A new commit and other links

Florida Offensive Line prospect Wyatt Knopfke verballed to Addazio Monday. Knopfke also had offers from Miami and Kentucky.

The Giants brought KPL in for a workout. As we know there is a long history of the Giants taking BC guys.

BC is also the first to offer Cincinnati-area WR Chase Pankey.

As expected Joe Rahon will complete his college career back on the West Coast.

I wish Rahon well. Unless he met Christian and somehow concluded he could never play for him - I just don't understand why this is a smart decision for him. Will his degree now be from St. Mary's?

Yes his degree will be from St. Mary's. St. Mary's Middle 50% SAT scores on math are 510-610 -- BC's are 650-740. St. Mary's graduation rate is 60%, BC's is 92%. So clearly he isn't doing this to get a better degree. St. Mary's is ~500 miles from San Diego, so he's closer to home but still not all that close. Tough to see what is rationale is unless he simply, for whatever reason, didn't like it at BC.

Seriously? You're citing SAT scores? I live on the Left Coast and St. Mary's is a well-respected school. Probably equivalent to BC in terms of recognition and opportunity. I doubt that Rahon's degree from St. Mary's versus BC will have any impact on his future earnings. To think otherwise is nothing but east coast arrogance.

St. Mary's SAT scores are ~60 points below UMass-Amherst and you're saying its academically equivalent to BC? St. Mary's SAT scores are below every ACC member (including ~20 points below FSU and NC State, the two lowest in the ACC). I'm not saying there is anything wrong with St. Mary's -- its nice that its a Catholic school -- but clearly it is a step below BC academically (unless you also want to argue that FSU, NC State and UMass are on par with BC as well).

Folks,

It's a tempest in a teapot. These guys could care less about the degree. It's all about ballin for them. Look at Anderson, only 1 year to go and he's leaving, like Sanders before him. As I've said before they're just here to play ball, and no one knows that better than the players themselves.

I know I'm older than most of you but I don't understand this obsession w/ the schools academic ranking when it comes to the teams. It just leads to what are IMO those infantile cheers of safety and so on made famous by Duke. When I heard our fans doing it at a game it made me want to barf. How childish the whole thing is.

Proof of your point Hoib, is Anderson's foolish decision to transfer now, when he could have stayed at BC next year to graduate, but opted to redshirt his senior year to fix his shoulder. Then he would have had his BC degree, been healthy, had more to figure out whether he trusts Christian .... And still have the transfer as a 5th year graduate without having to sit out.

Right Scott

And why will a school pay 2 years to get 1 year of play from an average guy like that. It's a head scratcher.
