All BC needs to do is have all students who want to attend sign a waiver. Make them waive any litigation rights they would have if something happens. Let them sign something that says BC is not liable for anything that happens. That's always done for riskier things such as bungee jumping or sky diving.Bravesbillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18132085833230451082noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9512562.post-81397442546722252222007-11-27T17:43:00.000-05:002007-11-27T17:43:00.000-05:00Great story ORD Eagle. The now famous Bruce Pearl put the trip together and we got 50 guys and two kegs. The bus driver sang R&B songs along with the tape player at the top of his lungs and wondered where he could find a massage parlor in Indiana. Left Boston on Thursday and got to Bloomingon 20 hours later or so - packed 6 or 8 guys to a Holiday Inn room, played full contact nerf basketball using upside down lampshades as baskets.

You want memorable -- put 50 BC guys who have been on the road and drinking into a Bob Evans and have them hit the buffet - THAT made an impression on the locals.

Painted Eagles on our face and screamed our lungs out from the first rows of Assembly Hall. The guys from the team were over high fiving during warm ups. We lost to St. Joes (a long and sad story)and ended up heading home early (the next game would have been against eventual champion Inidiana at IU!) But not before some guys made the bus driver pull over so they could try and steal an I-69 road sign (Hey, it was college, you are supposed to act like an idiot.)

It's 26 1/2 years later and I remember most of it like it was yesterday. I graduated in the spring of this year and I'm even more broke now than I was as a student. Sob Sob- I know... just like everyone else. Might be going the "christmas present" route too. Airfare from here (chicago) is also the issue for me as opposed to the game tickets ($350+). Hotel is a non issue because I'm likely flying in Saturday morning and out Sunday night.

Hotel should really be a non issue for anyone under 25 because, from experience, you can cram about 15 of us youngsters into a single hotel room (dibs on bathtub).

The athletic department needs this kind of think tank.

I guarantee that there are hundreds of current BC students that would go for the chartered bus. This works like a charm for the Badgers. I'm sure it's a liability thing that BC is worried about, typical.

Go EaglesCHI_Eaglehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11395449367812556659noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9512562.post-61655525591137039342007-11-27T15:29:00.000-05:002007-11-27T15:29:00.000-05:00Hey I have some feedback.1) Charter Busses: The s...Hey I have some feedback.

1) Charter Busses: The school did look into this. I'm just imagining even buses or something that can get a bunch of students down there at a realistic price. I know a bunch of other schools (In particular Wisconsin) offers student packages to all its away games at a small loss so that they can have a big traveling group. If BC really wants its students to go, make it reasonable and realistic.M&Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09394421298041931137noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9512562.post-39452884523957266822007-11-27T14:23:00.000-05:002007-11-27T14:23:00.000-05:00I'm going, as are a number of people in my tailgat...I'm going, as are a number of people in my tailgating group. But we bought plane tickets, etc, the day after the Clemson game so the prices weren't that bad. For people looking now, they're horrible.

I'm afraid some of the blame for the slow sales needs to rest with the Athletic Department. Sure, there are the Dodd Travel official trips down to Jax but they are a total rip off. Nothing that students or recent grads could afford. Could the school charter a few planes to get people down there? You'd think so, but they're not doing it. They could even charter a few busses...it's a 20 hour ride, but I know that over 1,000 kids at BC go that far every spring for Applachia trips and would likely be willing to do so for the game. But, the school has done nothing to that end. Let's face it, if you have to sell 10,000tickets, to a relatively small fan base, you need to take some action--to do SOMETHING--to help fans get down there. There will always be people who have an excuse not to go who wouldn't go anyway; but I really think that a bunch of the people who are currently saying "I'd go, but I can't afford the airfare" mean it. In my opinion, it's up to the school to provide an alternative.

Asking 10,000 people to pony up close to a grand for a weekend--the same people who pay $3,500 for parking passes, and $x for donor-based seating--well, that's asking a lot.flutie22phelan20https://www.blogger.com/profile/01303414751362562676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9512562.post-51442199503615698702007-11-27T13:52:00.000-05:002007-11-27T13:52:00.000-05:00As I get older, I would like the opportunity to go...As I get older, I would like the opportunity to go to more bowls.
