In my mind that doesn't simply mean loving BC or being a big Eagles fan. It means fundamentally honoring Boston College and what it stands for. It means appreciating how far BC has come in the past 150 years and recognizing the place it is today. It means embodying "Ever to Excel," committing to take BC to greater heights, and understanding the measured role athletics plays in getting there. It means representing BC with integrity and sacrificing one's own ego when appropriate. GDF deserves credit for many of his achievements over the past 15 years, but I think he lost his way later in his tenure.

Old Heightsonianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00902743388243889329noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9512562.post-64774956795106820962012-09-20T16:19:41.038-04:002012-09-20T16:19:41.038-04:00also mod, one last bit of housekeeping -- why are ...also mod, one last bit of housekeeping -- why are you so against this guy? what "BC guy" is out there? maybe john mara will sell the giants and be the AD?

i like how you downplay his experience, as if this guy was selling a beer-man at Wisconsin b/c he was in charge of in-game concessions. he also has spent the last few years learning from barry alvarez, as respected a guy as there is in college football, and he actually PLAYED college football so he knows his ass from his elbow.

like i said i know nothing about good ADs vs. bad ones (nor has this guy even been hired), but if there was a thought out search and this guy is the best candidate, so be it. i'll be on board with whoever is hired.EL MIZhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12042895353703675136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9512562.post-3476841039376528862012-09-20T16:16:30.475-04:002012-09-20T16:16:30.475-04:00i don't think it is conclusive based on the ar...i don't think it is conclusive based on the articles posted that this guy was fired from Merrimack. the merrimack people in one of the article's says "He (frazier) decided to move on." if frazier decided it, then he wasn't fired.

i have absolutely no idea what makes a good AD and only hope that this Leo guy doing the search has a clue. i would imagine BC's due diligence would turn up if freaking merrimack fired him -- i doubt that is the case.

harrow -- switching jobs may be a red flag, but NOT in this profession. come on...athletics is an arena where people are constantly hopping around and trying to take on more responsibility and move up to a higher job title.

mod34b you point to USC hiring haden or ND hiring swarbrick, but what "BC guy" is sitting around hoping to be AD. its probably a pay cut for someone you envision and whereas USC and ND are both so sports crazy, i doubt any BC alum is saying "i'm gonna quit my job and enter a world i know little about for less money, start kissing ass to raise money and taking crap from media and random ppl 24/7 so that BC can get to an orange bowl!" i just don't think the list is that long -- some had mentioned former player Quentin Williams (now a lawyer) but i never heard anything more.EL MIZhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12042895353703675136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9512562.post-85189828578570663652012-09-20T16:07:56.029-04:002012-09-20T16:07:56.029-04:00Mod, please read the original post by ATL.
