As of right now, yes I do have Texas Tech beating BC. I might have a change of heart if I feel like Dudley can carry the team or if Al shows any inkling that he might change things up a little. But as it stands now, yes I do have Texas Tech.
An over-simplified compare/contrast for bravesbill's benefit.
Bobby Knight has run the same offense for thirty years, and doesn't change it regardless of the players he has or the defense he's playing against. He plays match-up man-to-man, almost exclusively and will on Thursday despite the fact that nobody on Tech can guard Dudley man to man. You have a better chance of seeing him smile and sit down the whole game than seeing Tech come out in a zone. And over the past ten years, he's had a disturbing penchant for losing control of games, and underperformance in the tournament. I regard him as one of the top three coaches ever.
So, many of your complaints about Skinner apply equally to The General, and I'd say Coach Handsome is significantly less abrasive.
Yet this penchant for underachieving in the tournament has led Knight further in the tournament than Al has ever been in his life. That 2005 team was not a good team and overachieved to get into the Elite 8.
bravesbill, are you going to pick BC to lose in the first round?
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this again, I look forward to defending my title from last year.
ReplyDeleteLex, are you Legend of Beerbohm? You never claimed your prize last season!
