Trying something that I used occasionally during basketball -- an in-game comments post. Since this game is on TV, I won't be online. For those who are, this post is open to leave your thoughts, vent or celebrate. To comment, you have to register with blogger/google. It is free and easy. We'll see how it goes.
As for the game, I think we'll be fine without Raji. This
post in the Globe did the best job explaining the situation.
Today marks the beginning of a new era. Go Jags and GO BC!!
crap. I missed the first two minutes, and Wake is up 7 with the ball. What happened?
ReplyDeleteAt least this loss won't be as embarrassing as the Michigan loss.
ReplyDeleteAlright Matty. 7pts up. Only 7 down now with 3 quarters still to go. Hopefully no more brainfarts and hopefully our defense shows up.
ReplyDeleteWhere is our defense? Skinner's 8-8 56yds
ReplyDeleteSomeone send Nick Larkin a case of beer.
ReplyDeleteAJ Brooks absolutely stinks. Never want to see him in again.
ReplyDeleteWow, talk about composure. After AJ Brooks loses it for a TD, Matt Ryan brings it down the field to tie it up.
ReplyDeleteHow many different receivers has he thrown it to?
20 seconds into the season and TOB's down by a score.
ReplyDeleteHaha, well that's better than Jags' 13 seconds. Great response from the team though (sans AJ "Butterfingers" Brooks).
ReplyDeleteAdd a second case of beer for Tribble.
Matt Ryan is an animal. 26-42-355yds-5TDs and it's not even the 4th
ReplyDeleteTribble playing great so far...3 int's, and solid coverage, the only thing that worries me is how were getting picked apart over the middle, the linebackers have to step up a bit, but our front four needs to be more consistent in the pressure they apply. You can tell that the loss of Raji is hurting them a bit today
ReplyDeleteI wish Spaz left with TOB. He refuses to make any defensive adjustments. Those crappy 5 yard passes are killing them.
ReplyDeleteBravesbill is my least favorite person ever right behind Scrush. If Bravesbill is Scrush (which is quite likely) I hate him to an exponential degree. The D gave up 14 points today given terrible field position pretty much every possession. I'm happy with their performance.
ReplyDeleteAmen Medeiros, amen. Why complain so much when we're winning? And congrats to Coach Jags on his first career win. And, personally, I'd give the game balls to Matty, DeJuan, and Brandon Robinson. Sick games for our three team leaders.
ReplyDeleteWell, the Jags era starts off with a W.
ReplyDelete1st pick for TD, Brooks fumble, & Megwa's roughing the kicker stand out as mistakes.
Unbelievable performance by Matt Ryan, putting up some Loganesque performance under center.
Hope the defense can get it together in time for facing TOB next week (who btw is down 22-3 to UCF at the half)
Wake passed all day on BC. Wake should have won the game if Skinner didn't make some awful decisions in the red zone. BC couldn't stop the short passing game last year and couldn't do it today. There's no way Hodges, who hadn't thrown a pass in his life, should have gone 17-23 for 129 and a TD. Brings back awful memories of the NCST quarterback last year who had never played and beat BC. On a happier note, the offense looks good. Takes many more risks than TOB ever took in his career. Logan and Jags realized that BC has 0 running game and threw it up most of the time. Glad to see someone make an adjustment. On another happy note, looks like NCST fans get to see their "messiah" go down in flames at home to Central Florida. I wonder what they'll be saying about TOB after the game.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way, who the hell is Scrush?
ReplyDeleteAn Open Letter:
ReplyDeleteDear Bravesbill:
You are the worst person ever. Take your negativity and shove it. Of course things weren't perfect today. It was the first game and we should have been playing a shitty team like Central Florida, but we played the defending ACC champs, instituted an entirely new offense, and more or less dominated. Please crawl back under the rock from whence you came.
Attack me all you want. You still have no response to the horrible pass defense. If this was the first time, then sure, it would be excusable. But the pass defense was terrible last year, esp. against the short passes. Wake utilized the short passes again today and Spaz still can't adjust and find a way to stop it. That's not negativity, it's called reality.
ReplyDeleteI advise everyone just to ignore Bravesbill. If he won the lottery friday he'd be pissed that there were three other winners.
ReplyDelete3 ints = HORRIBLE pass defense? yikes.
ReplyDeleteI would say 365 yards of passing offense for the infamous "gun-slinging" Wake is terrible. Thank God for Dejuan. Although someone tell me why Spaz didn't try playing Tribble on the other side against Moore, who tied the receptions record in one game for Wake. And by no means am I being negative. It was a nice win, the offense looked good, the run defense was amazing. Yet there are glaring areas that need significant improvement if BC wants to be successful this year. One of them being pass defense. BC can't give up 365 yards against weak passing teams and be successful this year. Further, the kick offs need big improvement. Put Ayers out there. He's got a good leg.
ReplyDeleteWhile Bravesbill's initial negativity was a little too much for me when he mentioned the Michigan game, I have to admit that after 2 touchdowns in a few minutes I was pretty bummed as well. I attended BC during the early part of the TOB era where being down so early was the kiss of death and meant a sure loss.
ReplyDeleteCall it the TOB outlook if you will.
But you have to admit when you look at the numbers, WF was passing it successfully all day. Tribble''s not gonna make 3 picks in every game, nor will Matt Ryan pass 400yds and make 5TDs in every game (although with this Offensive regime one can hope).
Did the Defense put up a good effort all in all? Yes. Am I happy like Medeiros says he is? No I'm not. No more saying things are good as they are ala TOB. Things could always be better. This is more or less the same group of guys we had last year on the offense, did you ever think they could pull something off like this?
Always shoot for something better. Get this "8 or 9 wins a year is the best we could manage" poison out of our collective psyche.
You always need a bravesbill or two in an organization to keep things honest and prevent mediocrity from creeping in.
