Flutie still a fan and other links

ESPNBoston posted a Q&A with Doug Flutie on his latest news. He mentions Billy and BC sports throughout. Since this is Billy's last year, I fear we might not see Doug as much in the coming years.

Andy Katz thinks Reggie could skip his senior season and enter the NBA draft in 2011.

BC grad Kofi Sarkodie-Mensah aka Kofi Kingston will be wrestling at the DCU when WWE hits New England.

Most of you probably read this but it looks like the Hockey team's T crash may have been the fault of the T Driver.

  1. WWE is not a sport

Frankly, it is embarrassing to see a BC grad doing this crap.

    Not worth covering here, IMHO

  2. Well aren't you just the elitist. Pro wrestling takes a ton of physical conditioning and stamina, not to mention talent.

It's just entertainment, so I don't really see why you hold it to such a low standard. Is Amy Poehler embarrassing too?

  3. Off topic a bit - and a little old - but apparently BC and GT are perhaps in the Big ten/12 mix still, from a Michigan chat board:

Apologies to those who, unlike me, don't find this chatter mildly interesting.

  4. Blist fascinating little item. B10 actually has some interest in BC

Ryan: hello, it's all fake fake fake

  5. sure fake storylines, but it's still notable. by all accounts kofi is a genuinely awesome guy and everyone around the university seems to be really happy for and proud of him. his dad is the manager of instructional services at o'neill and is equally esteemed...came over from ghana a while back and takes a crew of undergrads over for a service trip every other year.

i have no problem with giving some pub to a bc guy who has found success and is in "sports entertainment." mod, whatever happened to the "if you don't have something nice to say..." mantra? or is it that you need to take every opportunity to make sure everyone realizes how cranky you are?

  6. My neighbor's son was a pro wrestler and I know he trained and worked very hard, with lots of injuries. He has retired now; but still has medical issues, so this type of entertainment can be physically demanding.

I'm sorry but I don't get the BC connection with the wrestler mentioned? There is nothing in the story about BC. Did he play any sport at BC?

Oh, wait a moment, I see his father works at BC...never mind...

  8. Ry and Ryan -- WWE is fake and fraudulent not to mention an industry that obviously promotes heavy steroid use.

Clap all u want. Yay for everybody. Who cares if it's a fraud and is hurting people. It entertainment. Yay for entertainment

  9. wwe has acknowledged that its storylines and action are pre-determined for years...i can see calling it a fraud if they were claiming otherwise.

and the organization obviously has a terrible steroid problem, but absent any proof that this guy has anything to do with that stuff, i think it's unfair to make that generalization. we still have bill romanowski if you need a former eagle, and "real sport" athlete, to attack for steroid use.

i count myself among those who appreciate the effort Bill puts into tracking down far flung BC-related info...and i'm certainly not going to pipe up just because i think one link is irrelevant.
