In-game comments post: Clemson

A rare live game for me. If you are a BC fan at Clemson and stuck in the nosebleed seats like me (section TDT), be sure to say hello. I am bringing the whole crew to their first BC Football game. Pray that they don't leave the Stadium Clemson fans.

This is also a big day for Jeff Smith. Is this the start of BC's turnaround or just more of the same? Leave your thoughts and comments below.

  1. One way or the other, this will be an eye opener. Stabilization of a floundering program needs to be the number one priority. A thirteen million dollar future investment makes this way more than just a necessity.

  2. You should have a good view of Clemson crowding the box with 9 defenders.

Why won't Todd Fitch see the same thing?

Go BC - beat Clemson in spite of our offensive coaches - yes indeed, they are offensive.

  3. A touchdown! I'm stunned.

  4. On a pass too....from Smith!

  5. Really really dumb penalty.

  6. Stupid play call by coaches to go after it. Why did they do that?

  7. Good news. The historic manner in which Michigan just gagged away a potential playoff spot makes BC's debacle last week seem like a win in comparison.

  8. Two tidbits from ESPN announcer. BC is 5th in the nation in time of possession with over 33 minutes per game. Michael Walker, the kick returner, has an uncle who is the pitching coach for the Toronto Blue Jays.

  9. T.O.P. stat greatly scewed by Maine and No. Illinois games (37 and 36 minutes respectively).

  10. Two BC penalties keep alive two Clemson scoring drives.

  11. Well the defense clearly isn't as good as the stats say.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Didn't think it was, but still good.

Hopefully we can defend these great play calls somehow, without penalties.

    We really stink on offense.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Definitely need to stop them here, or the rout is on.

I don't know, but Clemson doesn't score 30 on us very often. With no offense, it's a possibility tonight for sure.

  14. I'm not watching the game and I just saw the score. Is our defense having an off night?

  15. Addazio has that look in his eye, like he's about to mismanage the clock again.

    ReplyDelete
  16. LOL 2 timeouts in a row. addazio is utterly clueless with less than 2 minutes

    ReplyDelete
  17. On the field a ton. This offense just has no shot in passing downs.

Two picks, though. 260 yds given up.

    ReplyDelete
  18. laughable execution in this 2 minute drill. Addazio is completely clueless

    ReplyDelete
  19. I just don't get that. 2nd and goal from the 3 with a timeout and 17 seconds. And we run it down to 7 then call a TO. Dude needs help.

    ReplyDelete
  20. BC has miraculously scored a TD and kicked a FG but the defense is not doing very well. Didn't see that happening.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wish our defense played both ways.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Burned 2 time outs with no plays run? This ineptitude in clock management is embarrassing.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Great red zone management by the Daz. If you could guarantee him the game will end with BC losing 17-10 he'd be thrilled. He Plays to lose close whenever he is a big underdog. The Daz lacks any semblance of testicular matter.

  24. Clemson is fast on offense, they throe the quick pass, and they have speed.

I said earlier in the week if our D held them to 24 points, they will have done their job. We have to defend the whole field, and it's tough with crappy penalty calls.

    Go BC.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Daz's horrific clock management sure is predictable though. Play to win the damn game.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't understand letting 10 seconds off the clock. Either call time out immediately and take another shot into the end zone, or run it all the way down. Stopping the clock with 8 seconds is like the worst possible option.

Can we out Al Washington in charge of clock management, please? The guy just oozes competence.

  27. I know we can't run Willis all the time, but we really should. I'm happy to have the kid healthy.

  29. DBs having a rough game.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Two bad Ref calls by sane Ref on pass interference led to 14 points. Bad call by Dazzle on rushing kicker when up by 7 led to 7 points. Score should be BC 10 to Clemson 6.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 10-6? Huh? Yikes. I must be watching a different game.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Run
    Run
Throw incomplete on 3rd and long
    Punt
Repeat process until HC is fired and new coach with no imagination is hired then given way too early extension

    ReplyDelete
  33. Dazzle is playing to have gained more running yards than Clemson. Running out the clock to keep the loss to a respectable number is his goal. When your down in fourth quarter with qb who can't pass the game is pretty much over.

    ReplyDelete
  34. and taking a timeout on 3rd and 19th too. It doesn't make sense. It doesn't make sense at all.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Defense a bit exposed tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  36. ouch, just got back from dinner with the in-laws. I never expected us to win, but I thought our D would hold them to fewer than 24 points. What happened?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Wow. I know the game is over but why not practice an onside kick there? Daz leaving early. Try!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Watson is good. They have talent. We played two FCS teams. They're #5 at home.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Watson throws for 420. Lost a lot of one-on-ones downfield.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yeah I noticed in the Duke game the D was very vulnerable to the pass.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Jeff Smith doesn't have "it".

    ReplyDelete
  42. Clemson has talent and it's tough to cover their receivers. The refs were horrible homeowners.

Our guys never quit and I am proud of our players and their effort.

Go BC - beat Louisville because this young team can.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I meant home owners. These auto corrections are maddening.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Time management and play calling at key intervals is just a product of hard work during extra time by the coaching staff which, apparently, is lacking.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Sorry I didn't post during the game. I was with the family and in person, I hate pulling out the phone over and over.
