Like most of you I am stunned and without much to say. I don't know what the future holds. Sports are funny. Windows and opportunities close unexpectedly or last longer than anyone could have planned. I hope Matt has many more chances in the coming years.
While I feel for him, I am not offering up my pity. I doubt he wants it...or cares, frankly. What I do want to offer is my thanks. I think I have watched every snap of football he has taken in college and the NFL. During that time, he has put 100% effort and determination into every play. He has also been a class act on and off the field. Football is a team sport, so one player can't do it all. However, Matt is one of those people who make everyone around him better. Thank you, Matt.
Note 1 to Daz. Call bellicheck about half time adjustments.
ReplyDeleteNote 2 ,to Daz. Notice how coach Quinn started running ball. Even with best QB. At start of 4th he stopped playing to win. He lost
I'm in stunned disbelief. A collapse and loss of epic proportions. Hey. I'm getting used to this losing thingy.
ReplyDeleteI am so used to this sort of thing. I know I shouldn't get my hopes up, but I am a glutton for punishment.
ReplyDeleteI am psyched! A great win. Fabulous. Winning never gets old. And luv' Bob Kraft giving Goddell the biz too. Fabulous. Really.
ReplyDeleteQuinn choked. Why pass when in FG range? A FG would have iced it. Why having Ryan drop back??
I admire Matt Ryan. I did when he was QBing BC and I do now. I have to ask. Does his sideline demeanor remind anyone else of TOB?
ReplyDelete"mod34b" said it right and asked the right questions. Quinn choked and life must go on. Thank you Matt. Just remember that you are not Humpty Dumpty and you can put all the pieces back together again.
ReplyDeleteAll the pro teams in Boston do is win, win, win. All that Boston College does is lose, lose, lose.
ReplyDeleteThere were two killer holding penalties by the Falcons which cost them 2 FGs at least, including their last drive. Matt Ryan just couldn't escape the BC losing stench.
ReplyDeleteJust like in college, Matt Ryan can't win the big one! Go Pats!
ReplyDeleteMatt Ryan will never win a Super Bowl. His legacy was cemented last night. He will forever be remembered as the QB that was on the losing end of the biggest choke in the history of sports. That is what he will be known for long after he retires.
ReplyDeleteYeast. You're a turd. But I have to agree with you on that one.
ReplyDeleteLook at QB rating from game. Ryan was great. Quinn and the refs choked. On the last holding call the Falcon wr had his face mask grabbed. It should have been off setting keeping the ball at the 24.
ReplyDeleteTwice as many penalties on Falcons as Pats. One sided officiating.
ReplyDeleteNED, Ryan and the rest of the team choked. He wasn't good down the stretch, he had the deer in the headlights look the entire second half. he's a loser.
ReplyDeleteAll the Falcons had to do was run the ball and kick a field goal. Game over. So much for Shannahan being an offensive genius.
ReplyDeleteMod, I was ok with the Falcons running the ball in the second half. They picked up good yardage on first down runs usually. It was the playcalling in the second and third and short situations that was baffling. Why do a 5 step drop back when you only needed a yard?
ReplyDeleteAt least there is the meaningless Bean Pot tonight.
ReplyDeleteFor real sports fans , the Beanpot has incredible significance. Young hockey talents often accept a scholarship from BC, BU etc. because of the opportunity to play in this annual event. Do you ever post a comment that shows any intelligence or knowledge of sports ?? Frankly, you must have little or no self esteem to anonymously post moronic comments. I actually feel pity for you !!!! I am sure that you have a meaningless social life !!!!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with Tony. The Beanpot is meaningless. It's a 4 team tournament that only 2 teams ever win. The teams play each other all the time in the regular season. It's a crap tournament that nobody cares about outside of a 10 mile radius. Guido, you are anonymously posting moronic comments, I guess that makes you a pitiful person.
ReplyDeleteGuido, if it has such "incredible significance" as you say, then how come there is no coverage for it nationally?
ReplyDeleteAlso, players don't take scholarships at BC or BU to play in the beanpot. They go to those schools to try to win things that matter, like titles.
If you lose the beanpot but win the national title who cares if you lost in the beanpot?
Also, the beanpot might be one of the easiest tournaments to win. Seriously, how hard is it to win the beanpot if you are BC or BU?
ReplyDeletetony = yeast. double douches
ReplyDeleteMore dumb questions.
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty legit questions.
ReplyDeleteTony Abardo- for an event to have any significance , does it have to be televised nationally ??? I think not !! It is a regional event that draws the interest of many hockey fans . You twin brothers (Yeaster and Tony)) are so knowledgeable !!! Interest in only a 10 mile radius - where did you come up with that statistic Yeaster ??? Did you call Tony ?? - no wait - you are roommates in a one bedroom flat - nice arrangement !! My friends and I drive 30 miles to attend the event - does that mean we are outliers ???
ReplyDelete"Pretty legit," stupid.
ReplyDeleteMatt Ryan was MVP and offensive player of the year. Two years ago Keuchley was defensive player of the year. Has any other college ever produced the best offensive and defensive players in the NFL within such a truncated period? Syracuse, UConn and UNC haven't.
ReplyDeleteyes. Michigan. TB12 and Charles Woodson.
ReplyDeletePsyched for the Beanpot tonight.
ReplyDeleteSyracuse, UCONN, UNC and Michigan haven't (also) won 4 National Championships in hockey over the last 17 years and put 20+ top flight players into the NHL.
8,500 undergrads.
Mod, Do a ratio of professional athletes to student body. BC is the best. I bet.
Ned, how many ACC championship games has BC won? How many BCS bowl games have they ever made? They can put up the numbers, but just like last night, they always choke in the big games.
ReplyDeleteNobody cares about college hockey. The Frozen Four is on a weekday afternoon.
ReplyDeleteI care about hockey. You are wrong. Stupid idiot.
ReplyDeleteMore questions though. Do you know the answer? Trying to make friends?
ReplyDeleteThe championship game got 540,000 average viewers last year. That is beyond pathetic. Like I said, nobody cares about college hockey outside of a very tiny region. The only reason it's popular at all in Boston area is because they suck so bad at the sports people care about.
ReplyDeleteHahah. You suck at being a foil. Bitch.
ReplyDeleteThe college hockey championship game is on ESPN2. Enough said.
ReplyDeleteBarstool pussy.
ReplyDeleteKnucklehead you are so easy to prove wrong. It's kind of sad actually.
ReplyDeleteYou know all about it though. Friendless clown.
ReplyDeleteNot even good enough for ESPN. that says something.
ReplyDeleteYou spend a lot more time here than I do. Looks like you are the friendless one kid. Loser.
ReplyDelete"actually sad," like I said "fiendless clown."
ReplyDeleteYeah. I can multitask. Not tough for a BC grad.
ReplyDeleteYou have been obliterated. Done.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteYou're finished knucklehead. You are such a moron and make it so, so easy.
ReplyDeleteoh boy. Knucklehead. why engage with this guy? ATL should ban him
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts:
ReplyDelete1) If you play the Patriots in end-of-game situations, run the ball! Seattle made the mistake of passing when they had the best running back in football 2 years ago. Last night, Ryan drops back to pass after the Julio Jones catch put them in field goal range and takes a sack. Dumb!! Run the ball 3 times, burn some clock, then kick the chip shot field goal.
2) Quinn burned 2 timeouts in the 3rd and 1 early in the 4th. Zero timeouts preserved for a final drive. Very Dazzastic!
3)Belichick is a horrible recruiter. He just won the Super Bowl with a bunch of 2 star and 3 star players coming out of high school (granted, Brady was a 4-star)
4) All football coaches should pay attention to this stat: both national champion Clemson and the Patriots ran over 90 offensive plays. If you want to win at football, get as many offensive plays as possible to gas the defense. Another lesson for Addazio who routinely gets 70 plays or fewer.
5) Put a fork in Atlanta. No way they recover from this. I don't think they will get back in the Matt Ryan era (similar to the talented '03 Cubs not getting back until 2016). They will always have in the back of their minds that no lead is safe and they will mentally tighten-up. Plus the Packers and Seahawks are not going anywhere and the Cowboys are just as talented and just as young. And Shanahan is gone.
6) Brady is the best quarterback in NFL history. There is not even a debate anymore. Unbelievable performance in the latter 20 minutes.
7) Playing zone and rushing only 4 against Brady is a huge mistake. You have to bring pressure.
8) If Gronk and Brady both stay healthy, the Patriots will win Super Bowl 52. Actually, maybe all they need is a healthy Brady.
For the BC-Harvard NCAA hockey tournament game last year why were they only able to pull 51,000 viewers? Think of that number. Only 51,000 bothered to tune in for an NCAA tournament game. And you are trying to tell me that there are lots of people that actually care about BC hockey? Or college hockey in general?
ReplyDelete51,000 out of 324,000,000 people isn't a good ratio. What kind of math are they teaching at BC these days.
Tony/YEast was no doubt rejected from BC. What a dumb shit.
ReplyDeleteThe dumb shits go to BC. Mediocre academics. If Knucklehead/Mod is any indication then they will let in anyone.
ReplyDeleteInteresting now that actual facts are being thrown into the mix that mod has to resort to name calling. That 51,000 number really hurts huh Mod. Guess the Superfans aren't as super as you thought.
ReplyDeleteMediocre academics? Huh? What alternative facts are you reading? BC is a highly respected academic institution. Just look at the college rankings. BC is always in the top 40 and some of the rankings have them in the top 30.
ReplyDeleteYou have an argument that we are lousy in sports at the current time. But, you sound imbecilic when you claim the academics are "mediocre."
Mod, do you have an explanation as to why only 51,000 people in the entire country decided to watch BC play in an NCAA tournament game? Any excuses you can come up with? I seriously would like to hear your thoughts on that appalling number.
ReplyDeleteLike I said, top 40 is mediocre for me.
ReplyDeleteEB, Atlanta played man coverage for most of the game. Their pass rush became ineffective though after the first 3 quarters because they were gassed. Being on the field that long killed them. Ironically, the second quarter did the Falcons in even with their Pick 6. The defense was on the field for like the last 10 minutes of that quarter.
ReplyDeleteMod, Knucklehead, and other loyal BC bloggers - Tony and Yeast simply get their cookies off by provoking us. If we ignore them they will slowly fade away for lack of red meat.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see ATL ban them but that will only establish a dangerous precedent. Just let these two bottom feeders rant-away until they burn themselves out.
GE - i think it likely some kind of mental illness with Tony/Yeast. BC rejects who are not only bitter, but mentally unsound... a pity.
ReplyDeleteInteresting how mod is completely ignoring the legitimate question about the lack of viewers for the BC hockey tourney game last year.
ReplyDeleteMod, don't take the bait. Ignore the dweebs.
ReplyDeleteATL - ban those guys and screen them good when they reregister under different names.
ReplyDeleteThey're definitely the same person.
ReplyDeleteThere is no doubt. I called that on day 1. Back to back messages and nobody puts their real name as an ID.
ReplyDeleteWho cares. He is an irelevent annoyance.
ReplyDeleteWow, BC couldn't even advance in a four team hockey tournament. They really are irrelevant. By the way Georgia Eagle, that is the correct way to spell it.
ReplyDeleteIf you had one letter incorrect, that is a mistake. Two incorrect, you are an idiot.
Ya got me, genius. I was typing in the car. Hard to see the screen. Now's if ie had gon to a realsss schools I could a Ben a reali smert guyy likes yous
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteATL - please take some action. Yeast/Tony's sole intent is too annoy. Can't you do something about that?
ReplyDeleteMod, the problem with that option is you're opening a can of worms. ATL could banish you and I for our conservative views - just like they do on college campuses. See my point?
ReplyDeleteI have to admit it, Yeaster and Abardo beat me down pretty good yesterday. They are clearly my intellectual superiors. I apologize to them for anything I said. I am a total and complete idiot.
ReplyDeleteI am really happy I was able to get this off my chest. I have a good feeling Georgia Eagle will be the next one to come clean.
ReplyDelete
