Football Outsiders has moved BC up to 33... I was like "whaa...", but I gues when you break down how the team has performed on both sides of the ball, it has been pretty solid. Situational play-calling, clock management, and special teams have diluted the results. I would link, but afraid of repercussions.
Both teams have a lot at stake tonight. BC to confirm progress and FSU to avoid a disastrous season. Who wants it more? Who makes less mistakes? The answer to those two questions will likely determine the outcome of this game. I predict:
What does the attendance look like? Oh boy, empty at kickoff.
I'm going to sit back and hold my breath.
Only a few short weeks ago we had about a 5% chance to win this game.
Now we have a "good chance" if we can hold it together on defense and mix it up on offense.
I'm not going to be critical of coaching, hopefully - but just watch BC play tough with a chance to win against a high pedigree program - and hopefully show continued improvement.
After the td, I heard "For Boston". It wasn't too loud and off key but it still sounded good. They haven't been playing it too often. So, I guess that they are out of practice.
I really think three weeks ago the Daz punts there on 4th and 2. Jarmond must have given him an ultimatum, how else to explain the change in philosophy?
Last time we scored 40 in 3 consecutive games? 1993. Army, Tulane, Va Tech. We scored 33 the following wk against Pitt and then you know what happened in ND. 41-39.
FSU is imploding. BC needs to keep up the pressure. A penalty on the kickoff moves them further back.----It is interesting to note the blood lines of A.J. Dillon. His grandfather is Tom Gatewood who was a wide receiver for Ara Parseghian.
Oline is playing with agresssion And assignment football I have not seen since The beginning of Addazio’s tenure. I literally sat in the seat in the first half of this year and feel like I am watching a different OC and different line.
What a strong October for BC football. A lot of the fans have left but that's expected in a lopsided game late on a Friday night. We are going to a bowl game again and we have more ACC wins then we've had for a long time. Very happy for the players and coaching staff.
I sat under a speaker at Alumni for the vtech game. It’s not actually the band. They pipe in some crappy music that sounds like a cross between a marching band and a nintendo soundtrack.
Does anyone else feel like the BC band playing the same tune between every. single. play. is making this game unwatchable(at least with volume)? I’m getting closer and closer to muting.
And yes I realize if that’s the worst thing I have to complain about we’re obviosuly playing pretty well.
I sat under a speaker at the vtech game. It’s not actually the band. They pipe in some crappy music that sounds like a cross between a marching band and a Nintendo soundtrack.
Defense has played amazing without its most talented player. Coaching to win makes a difference. What made the staff and daz change their approach? Jarmond? Whatever it is it worked. The aggressiveness really is paying off and we been talking about playing this style for years. Happy for the kids. Great streak we are on. Bc football is fun.
Tim, I think our receivers did Brown some disservice tonight.
Although he made up for it, #89 didn't bring 2 catchable balls in, including a great potential TD pass. #18 dropped one while wide open and #32 missed two.
I think there were some others also.
So it could easily have been 10 for 20 for 100 yards and 2 TDs, no INT.
As a Don Bosco Prep alum, I was flipping back and forth in the first quarter of the Boston College game to check on the Bosco/Bergen Catholic game, which was live on national TV.
The Bergen quarterback, Langan, engineered a last minute comeback to win the game. It was mentioned several times that he was a verbal commit to Boston College for next year. Langan was more of the tall, drop back, pocket passer type. Accurate, with a strong arm. Definite leadership. Thought he was going to go crowd surfing after the go-ahead TD.
I am very pleased for the kids to see BC win over FSU. Sorry, but I still haven't changed my assessment of DAZ.
Men's Hockey lost 3rd in a row. 2-1 to Providence.

ReplyDeleteIf bc wins tonight I become a believer. Lose, and pray for 6-6 and a crap bowl.
ReplyDeleteWho would have "thunk it" only two weeks ago? The eulogies were being prepared. Let's see if BC can grab destiny by the throat.
ReplyDeleteBoth teams have a lot at stake tonight. BC to confirm progress and FSU to avoid a disastrous season. Who wants it more? Who makes less mistakes? The answer to those two questions will likely determine the outcome of this game. I predict:
ReplyDeleteBC 27 FSU 23
Plenty of empty seats at kickoff.
ReplyDeleteWhat does the attendance look like? Oh boy, empty at kickoff.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to sit back and hold my breath.

Go BC - beat FSU.
That's terrible. Great throw by Brown.
ReplyDeleteWhat could have been.
ReplyDeleteMack Brown said it was a must score.
Didn't know Landry was out.
ReplyDeleteNice catch. Nice call.
ReplyDeleteOne reason why we were so frustrated with RRPP.
ReplyDeleteSomeone is deciding to fly. Love the play call on the Smith TD throw.
ReplyDeleteTwo trick plays already. Wow!
ReplyDeleteGo Eagles 🦅
ReplyDeleteNow let's see the D answer.
ReplyDeleteRazzle DAZzle!
ReplyDeleteO well
ReplyDeleteAfter the td, I heard "For Boston". It wasn't too loud and off key but it still sounded good. They haven't been playing it too often. So, I guess that they are out of practice.
ReplyDeleteLucky but I will take it.
ReplyDeleteWe need to find a way to put big pressure on the QB.
ReplyDeleteWow - fumble recoveries help.
Timely recovery. Let’s move it!🦅
ReplyDeleteFlying High. Will Harris is johnny on the spot.
ReplyDeleteBad field position. Need to run it out !
ReplyDeleteDillon!
ReplyDeleteOh! Fingertips
ReplyDeletetwo bad drops already.
ReplyDeleteGood time for an option.
ReplyDeleteThe drops are really too bad.
ReplyDeleteI would have expected both of those to be caught - especially the last one.
That’ll wory
ReplyDeleteMixing up well
ReplyDeleteStill gets shaken
ReplyDeleteGreat punt & coverage.
ReplyDeleteBC should be winning by more than they are but that was a good first quarter.
ReplyDeleteIt shows we can play with these guys.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope some of our passes connect.
Open it up for #2.
The pass sets up the run and vice versa. but not the predictable RRPP.
Nice stop.
ReplyDeleteGood stand
ReplyDeleteNow try to run it down their throats.
ReplyDeleteGood catch. Too bad not on down 1 or 2
ReplyDeleteBC needs to go for it.
ReplyDeleteGreat call and play by Brown.
ReplyDeleteRah!
ReplyDeleteFSU getting a little chippy. Maybe some penalties coming.
ReplyDeleteSweeney!🦅
ReplyDeleteGod damn BC football is fun again
ReplyDelete"For Boston" the second time sounded lots better. It's the practice. Just think what it will sound like when they score again.
ReplyDeleteI really think three weeks ago the Daz punts there on 4th and 2. Jarmond must have given him an ultimatum, how else to explain the change in philosophy?
ReplyDeleteGreat drive.
ReplyDeleteWe are not going to settle for this. Keep it up, guys. Keep the pressure up!!!!
ReplyDeleteGot to get to the QB somehow.
ReplyDeleteOK D - keep it together. Be disciplined.
ReplyDeleteOmg! 🦅
ReplyDeleteThat was great. Schwab read that the whole way.
ReplyDeleteYES!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes together it's going to be beautiful
ReplyDeleteAs Mac Brown has said a number of times, BC is "on fire". I hope that they remember that there are two halves. The Atlanta Falcons didn't.
ReplyDeleteWow!🦅
ReplyDeleteI hope our fans at the game don't leave at halftime.
ReplyDeleteWe can't let them get back into this game. FSU is checked out. Give them nothing now.
ReplyDeleteTD!
ReplyDeleteThat was the same play as last week only Brown kept it.
ReplyDeleteWe were at the USC game in 2014 (back in my Flynn Fund 50 yard line seats days).
ReplyDeleteThis is magic so far.
Go BC - beat FSU.
I'll renew my Flynn Fund Seats from 1000 miles away. :-)
Props to Daz and Loeffler. This has been a near flawless half of offense — play calls and execution.
ReplyDeleteI can’t believe I am thinking we could very possibly put 40 up again.
Last time we scored 40 in 3 consecutive games? 1993. Army, Tulane, Va Tech. We scored 33 the following wk against Pitt and then you know what happened in ND. 41-39.
DeleteHold
ReplyDelete4th down
ReplyDeletethis is getting scary----i'm dumbfounded at the ease of BC's scoring capability.
ReplyDeleteFSU is imploding. BC needs to keep up the pressure. A penalty on the kickoff moves them further back.----It is interesting to note the blood lines of A.J. Dillon. His grandfather is Tom Gatewood who was a wide receiver for Ara Parseghian.
ReplyDeleteBoston College - DO NOT LEAVE AT HALFTIME!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGrandfather Gatewood deserves our thanks for his guidance.
ReplyDeleteThink these commentators going for FSU?
ReplyDeleteThese FSU players are stupid.
ReplyDeleteThere is a stunned realization that we are dominating FSU after 3rd TD here in Section. R
ReplyDeleteThat's an interception. FSU 1st down at the 3 or 4.
ReplyDeleteWow - confirmed.
ReplyDeleteHow is that not a pick?
ReplyDeleteAghhhh pick that Harris
ReplyDeleteHold that line
ReplyDeleteYes - and pressure the QB somehow.
ReplyDeleteWow
ReplyDeleteBig FSU catch.
ReplyDeleteFG?
ReplyDeleteMack Brown is the worst.
ReplyDeleteThere goes the shut out.
ReplyDeleteClean play and I hope the QB is okay.
ReplyDeleteHope #1 is ok
ReplyDeleteWalker is amazing!
ReplyDeleteNow he can take a knee.
ReplyDeleteAddazio is coming back next year...this is the he best stretch of BC football in 10 years...enough negative chatter.
ReplyDeleteOline is playing with agresssion And assignment football I have not seen since The beginning of Addazio’s tenure. I literally sat in the seat in the first half of this year and feel like I am watching a different OC and different line.
ReplyDeleteThat was a good half.
ReplyDeleteTwo halves guys. A. Brown is showing some leadership skill now. It is his team. It looks like the FSU qb has a separated shoulder.
ReplyDeleteI had season tickets for about 42 years (will renew again) before they drove me out with s$It teams on the schedule and RRPP.
ReplyDeleteBut we always stayed until the end, no matter.
If our fans at the game don't come back after halftime, I am really going to be mad.
This is a special turnaround for our team, and I hope we can sustain the action in the 2nd half.
A wild stadium like at the USC game in 2014 will go a long way to helping our players (and coaches) win this game.
If our team faces adversity in the second half, how will they respond?
ReplyDeleteThis is the key for the team in week 9.
Go BC - get over any hurdles.
Can’t tell if all fans are back; but if team continues tough in 2half - great for recruiting.
ReplyDeleteKeep giving it to Dillon.
ReplyDeleteO my
ReplyDelete6 screwed that up
ReplyDeleteBrown has to be careful.
ReplyDeleteBC ball! 🦅
ReplyDeleteWow - can't expect FSU to make those mistakes.
ReplyDeleteLove Dillon moving the pile.
ReplyDeleteOne more now for #2
ReplyDelete#2 TD Yea. What I line blocking!🏈
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me?
ReplyDeleteLETS GO 28-3
ReplyDeleteAJD2 for Heisman
ReplyDeleteOn the wY to 49 again? Who woulda thunk it?!
ReplyDelete40
DeleteDon't let up, BC.
ReplyDeleteThese teams love to roll it up on us!!!
Stuff em, and score again.
28-3 on the 3rd Quarter. Better not count our chickens yet.
ReplyDeletePetal to the metal.
ReplyDeleteOops. Pedal. Autoshit.
ReplyDeleteThe fat lady hasn't sung yet. Keep the pedal to the metal.
ReplyDeleteGood Fair Catch.
ReplyDeleteAgree with CT and all - pedal to the metal.
Keep em with a heavy dose of Dillon. More points.
ReplyDeleteHilliman keeps making me nervous.
ReplyDeleteBrown is hitting these guys.
ReplyDeleteIf we catch more balls, it would be unbelievable.
Hilliman not getting to that ball on 3rd down just now. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteBC punt? Last time?
ReplyDeleteThe clock is really slow this period. Don't turtle up, BC.
ReplyDeleteWow, #32 missed two and that was a first down.
What a strong October for BC football. A lot of the fans have left but that's expected in a lopsided game late on a Friday night. We are going to a bowl game again and we have more ACC wins then we've had for a long time. Very happy for the players and coaching staff.
ReplyDeleteYes. And if ND roughs up NCState, we will have a good shot at wing out! (Am I nuts?)
DeleteLuck of the Irish!
ReplyDeleteThis game is a trainwreck for FSU.
ReplyDeleteEnjoying the game but... what’s up with the band?
ReplyDeleteWhatcha mean?
DeleteSounds like a Bon Jovi tribute band half the time instead of our beloved screaming eagles
DeleteI sat under a speaker at Alumni for the vtech game. It’s not actually the band. They pipe in some crappy music that sounds like a cross between a marching band and a nintendo soundtrack.
DeleteDaz has gone conservative. Shit!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone else feel like the BC band playing the same tune between every. single. play. is making this game unwatchable(at least with volume)? I’m getting closer and closer to muting.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes I realize if that’s the worst thing I have to complain about we’re obviosuly playing pretty well.
I sat under a speaker at the vtech game. It’s not actually the band. They pipe in some crappy music that sounds like a cross between a marching band and a Nintendo soundtrack.
DeleteHockey game tonight as well. Plus I heard it's the smallest BC Band in history.
ReplyDeleteHold em
ReplyDeleteGeorgia Eagle - hope you're wrong.
ReplyDeleteMakes sense. Less in this case should equal more.
ReplyDeleteHe's back to the old two runs up the middle followed by a short pass
ReplyDeleteMagnificent take down Zack!
ReplyDeleteLet's go for 35. No kidding!!!~
ReplyDeleteWe want 40 Jack!
DeleteMore points please
ReplyDeleteBrown hurt!
ReplyDeleteI don't think the turnaround is all about Brown. But I would hate to see him out.
ReplyDeleteRun it in
ReplyDelete4Th and goal. Go for it. End them.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like those 3 formations for hand offs up the middle.
ReplyDeleteNot being super critical.
Wade for MVP!
ReplyDeleteWow that was close - hopefully the KO punch.
ReplyDelete35-3 with 15 minutes to go. What is going on.
ReplyDeleteI feel like Flounder watching the Faber Parade... Oh boy! This is great!
ReplyDeleteCourt Quarter💪🏻
ReplyDeleteFourth Quarter 💪🏻
DeleteJust f...ing pinch me cause this is unreal
ReplyDeleteNeed another TD to ensure 49 & to score in each quarter!🦅
ReplyDeleteI mean 40. Typos
ReplyDeleteThis possession will be interesting.
ReplyDeleteIs Brown out for the night?
Probably a good idea with a bye week.
But I'd love to see us score another one.
Pay back for last year and other years.
This has not even been close in any aspect of the game: O, D or special teams. And no Landry. Unreal.
ReplyDeleteGet Dillon out... save some for next week.
ReplyDeleteRun clock, run.
ReplyDeleteLet's get this over with.
I don't want to see a couple of FSU TDs in garbage time.
Pedal to the metal.
Kind of a long shot but if NC state beats ND and then Clemson they could come in as a top 5 team in a trap game... exciting possibility
ReplyDeleteDefense has played amazing without its most talented player. Coaching to win makes a difference. What made the staff and daz change their approach? Jarmond? Whatever it is it worked. The aggressiveness really is paying off and we been talking about playing this style for years. Happy for the kids. Great streak we are on. Bc football is fun.
ReplyDeletePut in Hilliman or that other rb.
ReplyDeleteSave them for NCState. Bye coming.
Nice sack 20
ReplyDeleteFSU have raised the white flag
ReplyDeleteI am stunned at this teams turn around. Can we get another shot at Clemson and Notre Dame?
ReplyDeleteNo Quarter for them. Payback for many years. 🦅
ReplyDeleteDaz said it would be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMany fan bases are leaving games early.
ReplyDeleteWelles' parents being interviewed.
Really touching.
And what I meant to convey is the contrast from 2014 USC with 40,000 plus staying until the end and rushing the field.
ReplyDeleteAnd tonight, with this unbelievable turnaround, already gone to the bars, the library, wherever.
I just wish they stayed to salute this team tonight - and Welles Crowther's parents!!!
ReplyDeleteAmen.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Don't understand it at all.
ReplyDeleteGotta say these announcers have been gushing about anything and everything BC all night. Proud day to be an alum.
ReplyDeleteKudos.
ReplyDeleteTeam and coach deserve a pat on the back
Nice job
OK - those remaining are showing their spirit.
ReplyDeleteGo BC.
Book it! & they rushed the field. 🦅🦅🦅
ReplyDeleteBiggest damn smile on my face right now. These kids have earned it.
ReplyDeleteHere's the deal.
ReplyDeleteBye week - time to heal up.
Then we get NC State coming off Notre Dame and Clemson and then flying to little Boston College.
Coaches - let's put some more frosting in the cake. Get ready for the Wolf Pack and knock them off next!!!
No kidding.
Go BC - enjoy your dinner (Sunday?) and get ready to stick it to NC State.
Pedal to the metal!!! :-)
Weakest college football crowd in America. Cannot wait until the douchebags start showing up for NC State and UCONN.
ReplyDeleteWe just got the last three years of missed bounces tonight.
Go Eagles.
NC State is fucked.
Brown was 6/20 for 54 yards. Not good.
ReplyDeleteTim, I think our receivers did Brown some disservice tonight.
ReplyDeleteAlthough he made up for it, #89 didn't bring 2 catchable balls in, including a great potential TD pass. #18 dropped one while wide open and #32 missed two.
I think there were some others also.
So it could easily have been 10 for 20 for 100 yards and 2 TDs, no INT.
Brown played like a veteran and a winner tonight.
ReplyDeleteGo BC.
The crowd seemed weak for some reason...Friday night, good weather...I thought there would be more energy
ReplyDeleteAs a Don Bosco Prep alum, I was flipping back and forth in the first quarter of the Boston College game to check on the Bosco/Bergen Catholic game, which was live on national TV.
ReplyDeleteThe Bergen quarterback, Langan, engineered a last minute comeback to win the game. It was mentioned several times that he was a verbal commit to Boston College for next year. Men's Hockey lost 3rd in a row. 2-1 to Providence.
Very busy Friday evening....
I agree, dtrain. Hopefully, the energy will continue to grow.
ReplyDeleteWe've been down for a long time, but the turnaround should happen faster.
Can you imagine if NC State beats either ND or Clemson - or both, what November 11th will mean? Wow.
Go BC.
Daz please take the team to guesStimate. Sparse crowd; my voice is still hoarse; beer lines were long. Go BC
ReplyDeleteSTOCK YARD.... autocorrect
ReplyDelete
