Consider this the semi-final round of the unofficial ACC tournament. Win and it is on to Tampa. Davis makes his true debut today and hopefully the BC D caps off a dominant season with one more great performance.
I will not be online during the game. Leave your comments below.
Good Globe story today on the game: http://www.boston.com/sports/colleges/football/articles/2008/11/29/for_eagles_win_and_theyre_in/
ReplyDeleteNot thinking about matchups or anything, but I'd like Georgia Tech to win the Coastal if they play well in the second half against Georgia - heck maybe they could pull off a win. Looks like Virginia might have a chance to pull and upset over VaTech.
ReplyDeleteGo BC - beat Maryland. I'm getting nervous in a good way.
Maybe I don't want us to play Gorgia Tech :-) Let's go ACC - beat the SEC.
ReplyDeleteOkay - we can earn a rematch with Virginia Tech. I still want Georgia Tech to pull this off.
ReplyDeleteBoth early ACC/SEC games going well so far. :)
ReplyDeleteLet's go BC! Time to get revenge for last year!
ReplyDeleteSo we would go to the Orange Bowl right? They get the ACC winner right? I should start getting tickets.
ReplyDeleteThe ESPN color guy (missed his name) must read this blog since he just referred to BC being in the "ACC Semi-finals" now.
ReplyDeleteGAME TIME!
ReplyDeleteStadium looks pretty packed...
I would love to see some trickeration with Flutie in throwing the ball on a reverse at some point.
ReplyDeletePam Ward thinks the Miracle in Miami game was played at Alumni?
ReplyDeleteThat's why she's normally relegated to the #3 or 4 game on the various ESPN channels.
ReplyDeleteBeantown,
ReplyDeleteStart getting your tickets? Hold your horses there tiger. BC has to beat Maryland today which is not going to be easy. Then, we would have to face the vicious blitzing attack of Bud Foster's defense and beat a team that always seems to have our number when it counts. Let's take this one game at a time.
Cliche alert!
ReplyDeleteYou know you made the cornerback look real bad when you leap over him for a TD AND knock his helmet off. Woohoo!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Davis...A weeks worth of practice and plays geared towards his strengths...This kid can play
ReplyDeleteholy **** we look sharp! Let's keep it up! Our coaches have these boys ready!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a drive! Davis looked very good on that drive. Hell, everyone looked good on that drive. Great blocking, great running and a nice TD pass.
ReplyDeleteTime to burn the red shirt on Tuggle.
ReplyDelete/snark
Davis looks like a whole different player from last week. Those passes were the best he has thrown this season. Crisp and accurate and he's actually making quick decisions to boot.
ReplyDeleteYou're right about that, Bravesbill. He looked poised and in control.
ReplyDeleteLike a well-made clock, right and tight and movin' down the field. The Kid is alright...It's a pretty thing to see. Go Eagles!
ReplyDeleteWell I think it's smart to plan ahead.
ReplyDeleteDare I say Davis looked better on that drive than Crane has looked all season? Accuracy and quick decisions we haven't seen since Mr. Ryan was here.
ReplyDeleteNow if our secondary would show up we'd be all set.
Damn, the defense appears to be having an off day. Again, this drive was set-up by another big runback on the kick-off
ReplyDeleteSo the offense does good, and the defense plays like shit.
ReplyDeleteTime to sell the Tampa tickets...
Damn, can't stop them with 12.
ReplyDeleteNiems, I'd take that early on as opposed to the alternative. The D will step it up.
ReplyDeleteMmason, we got another tight one brewing here. Time to run to the nearest Ralph's and get some margarita mix.
ReplyDeleteBC hasn't touched Turner yet. Blitz the hell out of the guy. The o-line isn't nearly good enough to stop them.
ReplyDeletethe corners are playing really sloppy... Spaz will get them going again, I have faith...
ReplyDeleteWell, they're doing what they always do--Terps will test us deep 'cause they can't run. The 43 yard pass is their game plan. Our guys have to hang in there on those go routes. Now we need a score and hold'em and score again. Go Eagles!
ReplyDeleteThank God we're not a Nike school. They might force us to wear a black alternate or maybe a monochrome look.
ReplyDeleteCome on D - don't let us down today. Special Teams either.
ReplyDeleteSACK!
ReplyDeleteLook for McLaughlin on the Sportscenter Top Ten tonight...WOW
ReplyDeleteHey, that World War II DVD looks pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteLook what a blitz will do for ya.
ReplyDeleteI'll never understand why receivers run short of the first down marker.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping we would get on top early. What a stupid personal foul on #86 - no excuse.
ReplyDeleteWhy would you just not have Harris pound the ball on 3rd and 2, esp. considering that Maryland can't stop the run.
ReplyDeleteWhy did BC not do this on Maryland's first 2 possessions?
ReplyDeleteIt's like the O line just decided to let the D score for them...and now a roughing penalty-- NOT good...But welcome to Sack City! Twice!
ReplyDeleteC'mon O - show some life. Run it down their throats if you must.
ReplyDeleteBravesbill,
ReplyDeleteI would give the BC coaching staff some credit for adjusting. It's clear that this pressure is really dusruptive to Turner.
Now the offense needs to get its mojo back.
They deserve credit for adjusting but they should have been blitzing since the beginning of the game, considering how feeble Maryland looked last week against FSU's blitz package.
ReplyDeleteIt took until the 2nd quarter, but they finally showed the Flutie pass.
ReplyDeleteHarris for Heisman, 2010.
ReplyDeleteWhat awful play calling the past 2 plays. Not to mention that bad play call on 3rd and 2 the last drive.
ReplyDeleteWhat do we think Logan needs to call for this quarterback to get us moving? I thought we could run on Maryland, but they are keying on that pretty well. A few quick outs to Hayden and Harris?
ReplyDeletealright logan, lets run the ball.
ReplyDeleteThese long droughts of underachievement by our marvelously talented offense, especially our ground game, take the zest and freshness out of the margarita business. We're lean and mean and should be scoring as I write this.
ReplyDeleteWhat's with the dropped balls and no O line blocking? The Haden-Harris jugernaut needs some TNT in the MPG.
I think the refs are saying that was uncatchable.
ReplyDeleteEven Momah can't jump that high.
Time for a defensive score. I was hoping it wouldn't be all on the D today, but it looks that way.
ReplyDeleteWhat is going on?
ReplyDeleteHerzy!
ReplyDeleteIf Herzy doesn't win the Butkus, something is seriously wrong with the voters. That INT was NASTYYYYYYY
ReplyDeleteHERE WE GOOOOOOOOO BABY
ReplyDeleteHerzzzzzyyyyyyyy!
ReplyDeleteYou won't see a better back-to-back set of plays than that INT and TD Pass.
ReplyDeleteBeen waiting for a pass play like that a while ...
ReplyDeleteWhat a huge turn of events that can propel, BC to victory now.
ReplyDeleteThat announcer who just suggested herzy come out in the draft needs to be shot
ReplyDeleteAh, how sweet it is! Davis to Gunnell! What an arm on the Kid!Gunnell is Money! Baby, cut the limes, it's halftime!
ReplyDeleteGo Eagles!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rob,
ReplyDeleteHow about Ryan to Gunnell followed by the on-side kick?
That'd be a fun debate to have some night at MA's, eagleboston. Can't go wrong regardless.
ReplyDeleteMmason,
ReplyDeleteI like mine on the rocks wth salt. It's snowing here so I need a little sunshine.
Rob,
ReplyDeleteIf you want to go back aways, didn't Glen Foley complete a pass to tight end Pete Mitchell followed by Gordon's field goal right into touchdown Jesus?
Let's close this game out strong!
ReplyDeleteClose it out strong with no more injuries, please.
ReplyDeleteTOB's team finished strong - you've got to give it to the guy.
eagleboston--It's 76 here in sunny Santa Clarita...the last Eagle outpost near Magic Mountain. I'll throw some extra salt on this one in homage to your snowwy day...and always on the rocks, of course. As for rocks--is the Kid playing with cojones, or what? I've got this feeling that with these 3 freshmen we could be rockin' for a few years--if only we could pick up a Raji, Herzy and Brace.
ReplyDeleteNo we don't, Big Jack. No we don't.
ReplyDeleteMmason,
ReplyDeleteThe future looks bright with all of these young freshmen. We lose one O-lineman, Purvis and Robinson on offense. The big holes will be on defense where we have to replace Raji, Brace, Francois/Toal and most likely Herzy (plus Anderson). I wonder who will step up to be the next great BC linebacker?
You're right, Rob - I lost my senses there for a minute. :-) He frustrated us for sure.
ReplyDeleteMontel is mas Man!
ReplyDeleteeagleboston, McLaughlin is a beast and only a junior so we're in good hands for another year, if Herzy leaves.
ReplyDeleteAnother drive killed by a brutal penalty. We need at least one more score.
ReplyDeleteSweet place to back up these Terps. Herzy and the gang gotta be goin' for it now!
ReplyDeletehere is where our d needs to apply some pressure. make something positive happen with maryland on the goal line.
ReplyDeleteI know we have a lot of TOB haters here, but I will always be grateful to him for getting us out of the Dan Henning era and for beating up on Notre Dame.
ReplyDeleteAnd you cannot deny he has done an excellent coaching job at NC State. Thank God we play them at home next year.
I'm worried about Brace and Hayden.
ReplyDeleteWow, Florida State is getting walloped by Florida. But, we won two from the SEC earlier.
ReplyDeleteI'm praying for an ND upset tonight as I do not want the Irish to make a run on Jags.
Well, that was like a 30 yard pass play for Maryland.
ReplyDeleteI dunno, didn't look to me like it hit his foot. Pretty tough to tell.
ReplyDeleteJags would never go to ND.
ReplyDeleteFriggin' Terps always manage to get some bleeping blindluck call when they're about to totally suck! It must be a Turtle God thing...you know that a Terp touched that ball first!
ReplyDeleteWHAT??? A CALL THAT GOES OUR WAY???
ReplyDeleteI knew it didn't hit BC first.
ReplyDeleteMmason,
ReplyDeleteDon't lose faith in the power of the margaritas.
Overturned!
Ruh roh, snap the ball quickly!
ReplyDeleteWow, 2 calls that go BC's way in 2 consecutive plays. The football gods are smiling.
ReplyDeleteWho is Harris' back-up? Boeck? I think Mulroney is still hurt.
ReplyDeleteYes! There is a God...as I learned at BC many times!
ReplyDeleteYou're pretty pissed right now if you're a Maryland fan. We'd be screaming bloody murder if those calls went against us admittedly. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteOMG Jags i love you!!!
ReplyDeleteFlutie TD pass!
ReplyDeleteYes the trick play I have wanted all along! Doug is smiling in studio.
ReplyDeleteJags! He did it again!
ReplyDeleteYet another reason why I don't miss TOB.
ReplyDeleteState fan here. Looks like you guys will make it back to the ACC championship game. Congrats. I think both NC State and BC are happy with their new coaches. Good luck moving forward.
ReplyDeleteWolfpack, appreciate the sentiment but no thanks. Check back post-game. Too much jinx potential on that one.
ReplyDeleteRichie Guns, cmon now with the drops.
ReplyDeleteWe may be witnessing one of the great BC defenses in many decades, guys.
ReplyDeleteThe Kid is doin'great, and would be even better if everyone held onto the ball--but the D is killer good.
Davis looks much, much better this week. Very few poor passes.
ReplyDeleteThe D is unreal. They're reached the point where you expect them to make the big play every time we need one and are surprised when they don't.
ReplyDeleteC'mon defense. Don't let the Terps get back in this.
ReplyDelete-8 yards rushing for Maryland.
Haha I like the fan yelling "nice catch." Fans there have been great tonight as far as I can tell sitting here on my couch.
ReplyDeleteYou guys jinxed the defense.
ReplyDeleteRob,
ReplyDeleteMy brother is at the game. He says the stands are full and the crowd is into it even though most students are gone for the holiday.
Who in their right mind would have shot this archive footage?
ReplyDeleteThese are MEN, people! Raji and Herzy and Brace and all the Big D Eagles! They hit like Eagle Lightning...It's just BOOM! Down goes the QB. I love it.
ReplyDeleteFletcher looks real bad today. He's 10 yards off his man every time the ball is caught.
ReplyDeleteFletch is gettin' burned like a Cali suburb.
ReplyDeleteMmason,
ReplyDeleteAnother rally margarita please. I need to clam my nerves. That drive was way too easy for Maryland.
Uh oh, just when you thought it was safe enough to put back the defibrilator.
ReplyDeletefletcher is not playing well at all.
ReplyDeleteI'm not picking on Fletcher, but why is he playing so much? I thought he was the backup.
ReplyDeleteOh boy - we've got a tough game. The defensive secondary needs to man-up if the offensive dows a 3 and out.
I can't use the reverse karma this week because that is a once per season deal. Someone else needs to provide the mojo this week.
ReplyDeleteEagleboston--I'm on it. Make it a double and how about a pick 6 thrown in while I'm watching from their 48. It wouldn't be BC if it was a blow-out.
ReplyDeleteI think the whole nation just switched to the BC game as the other two games are blowouts.
ReplyDeleteThank god Friedgen continues to try to run the ball. If they threw every down we might be in more trouble than we already are.
ReplyDeleteThis short passing game is killing BC now.
ReplyDeleteTime to play some press coverage, please spaz
ReplyDeleteRalph is a damn good coach. Rather than drop back and pass deep, he is getting quicker releases and nickle and diming BC.
ReplyDeletesmart to NOT catch that pick. so much field position would be lost.
ReplyDeleteWell Ralph shoulda called for a made field goal instead of a miss
ReplyDeleteDodged a huge bullet - but another stupid penalty.
ReplyDeleteAnother stupid penalty!
ReplyDeleteWell, anyone up for an 8 minute drive?
That makes no sense Beantown. Another idiotic penalty. BC has been getting these unsportsmanlike penalties for the past 3 weeks now.
ReplyDeleteNow, we need a good drive.
ReplyDeleteHow does it not make sense? Would you rather have the ball at your 3 or your 40?
ReplyDeleteBaylor and Texas Tech are tied late in the 4th.
ReplyDeleteTime for the O line to take this game over. Lets go big uglies.
ReplyDeleteC'mon BC--let's take it on down, score and ice this cake! Go Eagles! (the Fridge has had enough fun at our expense--we need to clock his big caboose and cut this game loose)
ReplyDeleteI would rather have the ball at the 3 than giving Maryland a chance for the FG, which they thankfully missed.
ReplyDeleteIt was a third down play from inside the BC 20, so I have no clue where you get the 40 from.
ReplyDeleteLet's just get a couple first downs here and try to work the field position game.
ReplyDeleteAnother 100 yard game for Harris.
ReplyDeleteI think Harris has become BC's most prolific freshman runner ever. We should have 3 exciting years ahead of us with him back there(not to get ahead of myself).
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say we need a 1st down.
ReplyDeleteWhat are we doing? Leaving it up to the D?
ReplyDeleteNorm Duke! That guy is better than The Dude.
ReplyDeleteNice punt. Okay Defense we have faith in you.
ReplyDeleteSteve Bible Logan
ReplyDeleteDid you guys see the holding on that 2nd down play?
ReplyDeleteThe Defense will have to end this thing...which is cool with me. But I hope we've got a Fletch alert goin'--cuz this is crazy. They're gonna T.O. their way down the field, and nickel and dime us.
ReplyDeleteWow - Herzy. 2 more stops
ReplyDeleteI hate this zone stuff at times like this.
ReplyDeleteI knew a pick 6 was coming!!!!
ReplyDeleteSee you in tampa boys!!!
ReplyDeleteAm I dumb or what :-)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Bedford Falls!
ReplyDeleteFaith rewarded!! I love this defense!
ReplyDelete3rd and 20 conversion. Why the hell do you go into a zone coverage there? It never works!
ReplyDeleteWell a TD seals the deal.
See you in Tampa.
ReplyDeleteI am in tears,...truly. This was a great win.
ReplyDeleteI DO NOT WANT TO LET THEM SCORE - NO NO NO.
ReplyDeleteNOT GOOD- hold em
So much for the pre-season picks and all the BCS BS. The Fridge can't bear to lose this one...every pound of his angry little brain hates this game. He's made his living lately beating BC and taking our bowl games. Now he's going to on-side kick and throw Hail Mary's until the fat lady's choir sings "Goodbye!"
ReplyDeleteThat game was, for the most part, exceptionally coached. Great win BC. 2 more to go!
ReplyDeleteI liked 28 to 14 a lot better, but congratulations to BC and our players, coaches and staff.
ReplyDeleteWe could have prevented this bs by Maryland at the end of the game.
Let's stick it to VaTech next week. We can do it.
WE REALLY DID IT. IN A GOOD WAY.
ReplyDeleteWe goin to the ship! Hopefully Jags will leave the leather jacket in Boston.
ReplyDeleteI just heard the Choir...singing "Goodbye Terps" AND "Welcome to Boise".
ReplyDeleteAh, yes. Gotta go to Tampa. Do they know how to make a Margarita in Tampa?
Congrats BC and great job Dominique!
ReplyDeleteIn Ryan's first start, he threw 3 picks and BC was crushed by Syracuse. Davis went 12-24 with 2 TD's and no picks.
Well, I hope we can beat our nemesis next week. It would be brutal to lose 2 years in a row to these guys but they have th pedigree and the coaching.
I agree the Fonze jacket has to go. That aside, 2 ACC Championship berths in 2 years is pretty damn good. WE ARE BC!!
ReplyDeleteShove it Phil Steele,
ReplyDeleteI heard that jerk on ESPN radio this morning predicting BC would lose to the Twerps. This is the same Phil Steele who I believe picked BC to finish in 5th place in the Atlantic.
But, I guess we have to win the 'ship to get any national respect.
I disagree about the leather jacket. I think it is pretty col and we are not going to mess with the karma now.
ReplyDeleteBut, I guess we have to win the 'ship to get any national respect.
ReplyDeleteForget it. Even winning the Orange Bowl over the Big Least won't give us much national respect.
