In-game comments post: North Carolina

This game might not change the Atlantic landscape, but it will serve as a good measuring stick. Let's go get the win.

I will not be online during the game. Leave your comments below.

  1. Sweet jesus, these high snaps finally came back to hurt us. Only a matter of time.

  2. What the heck is up with the defense? And am I losing my eyesight or was the punter clobbered in the endzone? That's why Vegas spotted us three points, they know we have to beat the team in black and white as well as the one wearing baby blue.

    ReplyDelete
  3. The endzone was just him falling over trying to draw something, wasn't really roughing.

    ReplyDelete
  4. He was clobbered but it was by one of his blockers. I don't like the way the offense has looked thus far. In a game like this in the rain, field position is very important. We need to get a drive going to change the field position battle in this game. Defending a short field is very difficult.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Very true, I think the short punts have been a product of him just getting it away, but if their secondary is going to give our guys a 3-4 yd cushion, it's time to hit Robinson on the hitch 'N go.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Well, if the offense can't do it, at least Quigley did. Huge drive for the defense here. It was very nice to see Purvis actually used in the offense on that drive.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Gunnell, take your licks like a man and make that catch, all right punt team!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Defense gets a stop and we still end up deep in our own territory. BJ Raji is a man btw, it's so helpful to get pressure just rushing four guys on third and medium.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Raji looks like a man playing amongst boys out there!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Is it just me or did Megwa make a terrible effort to come back to that ball?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Whoever called the pump and go to Brandon Robinson was spot on.

    ReplyDelete
  12. That was a HUGE drive!!! Two weeks in a row they've overcome some adversity offensively right before the half. Nice work by Logan and great execution by Crane.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Looks like I should get a headset and a chair next to Logan.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Rascall Flatts, get into them

    ReplyDelete
  15. If you're going to squib kick that, it has to get further than the 30 yard line. That's like an automatic field goal in the soft 2 minute defense.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Cliche alert: last team with the ball wins

    ReplyDelete
  17. Our special teams has been horrible today. Nothing on kickoff returns, then the squib kick where they get the ball at the 50, not to mention poor punting and poor coverage on kickoff returns.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Is there anywhere to watch streaming video of this on justin.tv or anything?

    ReplyDelete
  19. BC Secondary: Tackling optional

    ReplyDelete
  20. Nicks is eviscerating them

    ReplyDelete
  21. why do we give them 5-7 yards every play b/c our corners play 10-15 yards off. Its not working this week spaz

    ReplyDelete
  22. Gause almost jumped that one out, if they keep throwing it, it's only a matter of time before one goes the other way

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jesus Christ. Sit Crane already. I've seen enough.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Damn. Let's run the ball

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ref was awfully quick to call that one out, way to stand in there Gunnell

    ReplyDelete
  26. Running it there shows how little confidence they have in Crane right now

    ReplyDelete
  27. These officials might be the shakiest group I've ever seen. The ref called the offensive offsides on Gunnell "encroachment."

    ReplyDelete
  28. Great another 36 yard punt. I can kick the ball 30 yards, give me a scholarship.

    ReplyDelete
  29. this game is not on the refs.

the UNC secondary must be salivating everytime they see crane drop back.

    ReplyDelete
  30. B.J. Raja of course named after the tiger from aladdin

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ugh this is brutal, we are going nowhere and the secondary is stopping nothing. If not for that Hicks drop, it would be even worse.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Also, these officials are some of the worst I've ever seen.

    ReplyDelete
  33. can't win the game if the replay officials are rooting for unc

    ReplyDelete
  34. cant win this game if we are tackling like they have baby oil all over their uniforms

    ReplyDelete
  35. Another call goes their way, I'm so surprised, and our secondary should be made to run sprints until they pass out this week, everyone from LB to CB.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Chris Crane sees the field about as well as Icabod Crane would

    ReplyDelete
  37. Wait, Icabod wasn't the one with no head. Either way...awful...Bench this jamoke please

    ReplyDelete
  38. Goodnight Chris Crane. That has to do it for him, right? CRane is staring down receivers like they owe him money

    ReplyDelete
  39. Dominique Davis please

    ReplyDelete
  40. i've been holding back, but that's the ball game. welcome back to earth chris crane, now go find a dark corner and don't come out the rest of the season

    ReplyDelete
  41. Time for Davis, we're back to classic BC football, we have a chance to put ourselves in a good position against a team that's reeling and we give the game away and make life hard on ourselves.

    ReplyDelete
  42. really? he's still playing? he has done nothing. he is so one dimensional (that one dimension might be throwing the ball to the opposition) that we can't run or throw deep this game.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Absolutely no reason for Crane to still be in this game

    ReplyDelete
  44. Game definitely not on the refs, but they aren't helping either. They're making bad calls for both teams.

I think we need to see some of the future... Crane has thrown 3 pick 6s in two weeks and another that was returned to the 1 yd line. We can't keep spotting teams 14,17, 21 points and expect to win.

Bring on Davis! or anyone who doesn't have Crane on the back of their jersey!

    ReplyDelete
  45. This game is such a lost cause at this point, what harm could be done by playing Davis?

    ReplyDelete
  46. how was that one not a personal foul on the roughing call?!?!?!?

    ReplyDelete
  47. 2nd most painful aspect of the game, besides the game itself, is that there isn't a single attractive unc girl for them to cut to...

    ReplyDelete
  48. I was thinking the same thing, he undercut him pretty badly.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Haha yeah I hear you eagle1331, that onw with the paint they kept showin' before? Brutal

    ReplyDelete
  50. Even with this loss, as horrific as it may be, we still control our own destiny towards the ACC title game. We have games in hand vs. FSU and Wake. This is all assuming Davis starts at least. Crane will not get us there.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Jeez, tackling for us has been pretty poor

    ReplyDelete
  52. Crane Pics

    ReplyDelete
  53. the bad thoughts keep coming... 2 of the big recruits we hosted last weekend are at this game checking out UNC... watching us get blown out and letting the UNC fans go crazy ain't helping our cause. What a terrible game.

    ReplyDelete
  54. really? chris crane again? what the hell is logan and jagz doing? did i miss a news alert that we brought TOB and Bible back?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Line up under the gun, and throw it to a guy who has to gain seven yards just to get to the line of scrimmage? Brilliant offense!

    ReplyDelete
  56. crane with the keeper, to try to redeem his own stats. terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  57. This game still sucks. But I gotta say I do like this Momah character

    ReplyDelete
  58. Momah is big and can muscle his way in, he should be good next year and on.

    ReplyDelete
  59. thanks for that highlight clip of salt in the wounds raycom. oh, and for sparing us the kickoff

    ReplyDelete
  60. Now we're done as far as top 25 rankings go. Today we were beaten by two QB's...ours and theirs. Our WR's weren't all that great, but they got hung out in the flat too many times--and Hicks ate us up. BC is not a complete football team--the INT's are doom for any team--we're going to have db's teeing off on us all the way to December because Crane throws a bad ball 50% of the time--late, slow and fat--he truly is Dr. Chris and Mr.Crane. Time for a new approach--bring on the kid. Maybe he'll be our new Peterson...maybe.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Man, I just got back from volunteering for Make A Difference Day. What the hell happened to BC? I can't comment on the game as I did not see it, but here are some thoughts:

    1) The good news is this November, we will not have to worry about being a game away from the BCS only to get disappointed yet again.

2)The Jags honeymoon is over. I personally don't think it is fair to judge him until Year 4, but you know the casual fans will start getting critical about the lack of recruits this year, hanging with Crane so long, and getting clearly out-classed in 2nd half adjustments recently. Again, I want to stress, he gets 2 more years to show what he can do, but the honeymoon is over.

    3) Crane needs to be benched in favor of Davis. I don't think Davis will do any better than Crane, but we need to get him ACC experience for next year.

4)I think the absolute best we do is 8-4 this season. I hate to say it, but 6-6 is a very real possibility given our schedule remaining.

Tough loss but UNC seems to be our nemesis.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Well that absoluutely sucked. SUCKED. A few comments about this miserable, mail-it-in game:

    1. Crane can't graduate fast enough in my view, he is an interception machine, Can't look off receivers, can't throw the deep ball, can't throw a screen. All he can do is run a misdirection and throw a timing pattern to open guys. That's it. Take those two things away and it's 3 and out every time.

    2. Jags continues to disappoint me with his total misapprehension of the game clock. A squib kick at the end of a half is reserved for situations involving less than 20 seconds left. NOT ONE MINUTE! Newsflash Jags: you are inviting the opponent to go for 3, and even 7, if you give them the ball on the 40 with that much time to work with. The significance of this absolutely boneheaded coaching decision cannot be overstated here. Giving UNC a touchdown sent them bouncing into the lockerroom, jacked up for a big second half, which of course is exactly what we saw. Get a friggin clue Jags.

    3. Justin Smith should not be returning kicks. He is waaaaaay too indecisive. He dances, pauses and waits for a hole. Kickoff returning is a quick hitting thing, see a seam and run through it. He is living off that Clemson game two years ago. Get him educated, or get him off special teams.

    4. Josh Haden is clearly not ready for primetime. Maybe next year, but this year Harris should get the ball and Haden should get a spot on the bench, maybe even the defensive backfield. I am not impressed at all with him after all the hype.

    5. Ohmigid is Toal going to be missed. Did not hear Francois' name even mentioned. I am almost certain he did not record a single tackle.

    6. This game had victory hangover written all over it, and the telltale symptoms were evident - poor tackling, dropped balls, turnovers. Nice cup o coffee in the Top 25, but it's back to the "others receiving votes" for the Eagles, probably where they belong.
