BC-Kent State Game Watches

Another 360 Game means fewer opportunities for Game Watches. But there were some successes last week and more chapters are hosting them this week. If I failed to include your local chapter, send me an email or leave a note in the comments.

  1. So what is the etiquette for Frank and Joe's place? Show up with a 30 rack and a super fan shirt? Does one need to phone ahead for reservations?

  2. Can someone inform me of the rules of putting together a BC Alumni event? I got, hm, "urged" by the chapter president for my area that any event I try to organize, namely a game watch, must be run by her and BC. The only reason I want to do anything is cuz she does 1 da** thing a year, doesn't attend, and doesn't publicize it..

  3. Haha - 30 racks are always welcome, but not necessary. If anyone is interested in the Denver watch, give us a call so we can make sure we have the proper amount of "supplies". All are welcome. Go Eagles!

  4. I will second Frank on that but am positive that additional 30 racks will make our game watch that much more enjoyable...

  5. Frank, believe me I'm interested, but I live in Boston so I'm just gonna go to the game instead of fly out. Otherwise Frank & Joe's sounds like a good ol' time.

eagle1331 - I say ignore her and do what you want since she seems lazy, however I'm sure she could also use the help if you wanted to attend some meetings and help out with the local club chapter. She'd probably let you be in charge of any event you thought was worth doing.

  6. If this can start a movement (and the 30 rack/Superfan shirt rule applies), I'm willing to post the open invite to the DCers as well. E-mail is levydr[at]gmail and I will provide info. (Bill, feel free to throw this in the post, too)

  7. If only I had 360, I'd add Miami to the home gamewatch list.

Erik - thanks for the words of encouragement. Unfortunately, there are no chapter meetings, other events, etc. Aside from when Leahy or GDF come to town, she might actively create and push 1 or 2 events a year... Though she has offered me a roll in making more events, I like the no guidelines approach..haha

  8. Shannan's

Don't know if it will be on small 40" or on the 200" projection screen.
As usual, Dan and his kitchen have mouth watering sandwiches and wings.

  9. Eagle1331, let me know if I can help re: alumni association stuff.

  10. 1331, don't go over that person's head. Send her an e-mail telling her you want to organize a gamewatch and saying that you'll take the lead on details, announcements, etc. If she continues to stonewall you, then I'd go above her. I have the names of contacts at BC who assist with publicity (they have a master list of alumni and can send e-mail "blasts" to every registered alumnus in your area, not to mention update your chapter's web site with the info). If your local people throw up a roadblock, shoot me an e-mail at jag53@georgetown.edu. (Sorry, GU was my grad school.)

  11. @downtown_resident:

You seem like a decent BC Guy (or Gal) . . . but the GU e-mail is a killer! Can't you at least sign up for a bc.edu e-mail address and forward it to your GU address?

Dual loyalty is twice as tough, but I'm sure you can manage.

    :-)

  12. The fact is that a chapter president that does not invite and encourage ideas for an event is not fulfilling their responsibilities.

Why does someone have to be an officer of a chapter to gather fellow alumni together?

A blog is an excellent forum to promote "informal" BC activities.

I say do whatever you want as long as it is in the best interests of the school.

  14. To be fair to the chapter president, this could be someone in the chapter's responsibilities to do game watches. It was mine for a couple years before I changed positions, and I'm just now in the process of handing it off.

But if the Pres isn't doing it, and has delegated it elsewhere and they are failing, obviously it's his/her responsibility to make that right.
