Gameday!!!

ESPN's traveling road show is coming to Chestnut Hill. A surprising choice given Florida State's record and some of the other games on the slate, but let's not look a gift horse in the mouth. Get there early and makes some noise! This is a shot in the arm for team and the program. Ever to excel!

  1. Football-wise it makes no sense. ZERO sense in fact. But it's gotta be the Herzlich goodwill & Gold out as a decent story that is putting Gameday "in our city". I'm fired up. Last time they let people park on campus, but the game was later. I'm curious how it will work this time. BEcause you can't park to watch this from 10-12, get off campus, then re-open campus at 12:30 for the tailgate.

So it could be bad with a no parking rule, or it could be great with a lenient get-there-early just this week situation.

Wooo, I'm excited! I hope we can hear better than last time.

  2. This makes no sense, but I love it. The last Gameday at BC was versus FSU back in 2005 right?

For that game, we did a sign saying "George Bush Doesn't Care about Florida State" after Kanye's foot-in-mouth moment at the Katrina Telethon and got on camera. I hope some undergrad does a "Imma let you finish..." sign this time. The times change but some things will always stay the same: football, the Mods, and Kanye acting like an jackass.

  3. Well, Gameday makes as much sense as this bit of "pretzel logic" ranking theory: Because Washington loses to Stanford, after beating USC, who lost to Washington, and BC beats Wake Forest, who defeated Stanford, then Boston College should be ranked at #25 or better because the Huskies were #24 in the AP poll this week, and that's why Gameday is at Chestnut Hill this weekend.
    Whaddya think?

  4. TML, that was my senior year as well. The "George Bush" sign was you guys?? Well done.

My favorite sign from Gameday/the FSU game in '05 was "Tear 'em a new one, Quinton".

  9. Luckily I am an Allston/Brighton resident so I can park on Lake St whether campus parking is allowed or not.

    Think Dustbowl again?

There was lots of great/funny signs last time. I was very proud of the BC students humor & creativity that day. The whiteboard on a pole was the best possible use of resources.

One sign idea, this is on short notice. Something about Big & Rich (Gameday theme song) with captains Tennant & Gunnell.

  10. It also helps that the no. 2 and no. 3 execs at ESPN have close BC ties! The no. 2 guy at ESPN, John Walsh, has two children who are recent BC grads and is himself a grad of our sister Jesuit institution, the University of Scranton. And the no. 3 guy, Len DeLuca (SVP of Programming) is a Double Eagle, BC undergrad and BC Law.

  11. ESPN is pushing its ESPNBoston.com service, launched last week. Probably a big reason for coming to town too.

  13. That's awesome, if not unexpected, news (where were they the past two years??).

Will be an absolute blast, and a late start.

We need the masses there loud and early.

  17. It's too long, but a loosely translated Kanye comment could be:

I'm happy for you FSU, but Jacksonville State played one of the BEST GAMES OF THE YEAR!

    (I'll keep thinking...)

  18. Won't be there but after this week's Gameday predictions, can someone please make a sign letting Desmond "Wake is gonna roll BC by three TDs" Howard and Kirk "BC can't score against air" Herbstreit know that they are a bunch of dumb dumbs.

  22. Re: "FSU Please wear black"
Good call. Someone should make that sign.

Someone on another board suggested, "Hey Lou, David Gordon says hello." I like that idea, too.

  23. Let's not forget the obvious trove of indian humor signs like:

    Tomahawk Down

Chief Osceola called. He want's his dignity back.

And the many Indian Chief names that can be attached to a Bowden picture like
Chief Forfeits Wins/ Loses to Bulls/ Trails Paterno/ Likes Alotta Cold Play

    Bobby,
    It's not me. It's you.
    Chief Osceola
