In-game comments post: Wake Forest
BC-Wake Forest games always come down to the last minute. Let's hope this year's ending is in our favor. Leave your thoughts and comments on the game below.

I have a weird feeling that montel is gonna have a 200+ yd rushing game and BC is gonna win this one much more easily than anyone could've imagined 2 weeks ago.
Terrible drive from the defense: poor coverage, poor tackling, totally blown off the line on running plays, even had a dumb penalty. They just got dink-and-dunked for a field goal on a drive that started from the one. Terrible.
Beautiful deep ball from Rettig to Amidon! Really liking what we're seeing from Chase. He keeps his feet moving, has a quick release and has tons of arm strength.
Donny Fletcher hauls in tipped ball for BC's 3rd int of game.
Rettig sacked for 11-yard loss...we need some separation from Wake...can't let them hang around. Delay of game against BC...blown opportunity after interception. Procedure penalty...terrible series.
Basketball: BC 85--Phil. 56. It looks like this season will be fun to watch with up tempo, three-point shooting, zone defense--in short, college basketball. Any of the players who stuck around--Raji, Paris, Elmore, Trapani, Jackson are going to be glad they did as they resurrect their careers.
Football: Fox comes down with BC's 4th interception of the 1st half and stops last minute score by Wake, who is moving up and down too easily. Our offense has bogged down as it self destructs.
BC takes a knee to end on our 40 with ~30 seconds to end the half. Northwestern just drove from their own 20 with ~30 seconds left and scored a touchdown to end the half.
God, I can't stand our prevent offense. Just left points on the board again. Draw on 3rd-and-6? Blocked field goals happen. Bad play-calling is inexcusable.
Pretty pass to Swigert, although it nearly got him killed. Too bad he didn't allow himself to go ahead and catch the ball -- he wouldn't have been hit any harder.
Too bad Spaz-bore does not have any razzle-dazzle in his playbook. Rettig has got to learn to not force things when you are up 20-6. Wake has all of the momentum now.
Aside from the BC game ... Clemson defeated NC State today (at Clemson), 14-13 ... apparently, NC State was on the Clemson 40 yard line with about 3:30 to play and had a 4th and 1 situation ... NC State opted to punt the football (and then couldn't score any more points). The NC State fans on StateFansNation.com are furious ... and for us, its pretty funny to look at. Once again, this coaching staff shows no killer instinct. A TD here would have ended the game. Instead they don't even try and just play for three. Unbelievable. So glad we have TOB back on our sidelines. I don't care that Rettig is a true frosh. He had zero passing attempts on that drive. Why even put him on the field?
Well, that'll do it. Good stand by the defense there. Never thought I'd see Holloway take over a defensive series like that. Very impressive effort from Max. Scafe has also had a very good game. And another win in spite of the offensive philosophy and coaching.
Wow, Atl's prediction was almost spot-on. BC should have put up 28points or more. BC's defense gave up a lot of yards but forced turnovers and allowed only 13 points. And don't look now but we have a 2-game winning streak!
The Ineptitude Bowl ends and BC beats a team of 67 WF Freshman and Sophomore players...and it's a close one. Clearly Montel gets the game ball because he blocked for himself again. How he managed to get nearly a thousand yards this season and at this point in time is absolutely incredible. The defense played well, but against a team that's lost 7 straight, with a "Newbie QB"...not very thrillin'. Thank God for Hoops. Go Eagles...

anyone streaming the game, for those of us that don't have espn3? anyone? anyone? bueller?
ReplyDeleteNice not to see Riley Skinner. He was good. A real gamer
ReplyDeleteOh yeah
ReplyDeleteTd.
ReplyDeleteWho are these guys???
No replay on espn3
ReplyDeleteGosh, the ESPN3 feed is terrible for me today. It looks literally like black and white. Would love to see us get a nice lead here
ReplyDeletecrap I need to shut up
ReplyDeleteMy feed is slightly blurry
ReplyDeleteJim Noel!
ReplyDeleteWhew. Int
ReplyDeletelove the i form
ReplyDeleteJim Noel is a playmaker. He's the first safety we've had since Silva who really understands what to so when the ball is in the air.
ReplyDeleteAlso, our offense is absolutely horrendous at clock management.
McCluskey crushed his guy
ReplyDeleteGo to Eagle Access...get free video from Basketball...open second tab, get free audio of football game.
ReplyDeleteBasketball looks great...raining threes, ball movement, hustling all over, playing zone defense.
Football--2 interceptions on defense. First sets up 25 yard TD run by Montel Harris. Second in end zone saves TD by Wake.
Wake moving ball with varied offensive play calling.
Defense is looking like absolute crap on this drive. Giving up too many big plays. What a waste of a great punt.
ReplyDeleteTerrible drive from the defense: poor coverage, poor tackling, totally blown off the line on running plays, even had a dumb penalty. They just got dink-and-dunked for a field goal on a drive that started from the one. Terrible.
ReplyDeleteDefense can't handle the spread. Bad omen
ReplyDeleteBasketball: Biko Paris is reborn in this offense. BC actually used a zone trap/press and forced a turnover!! Gonna love this BB team!!
ReplyDeleteFootball: Wake settles for field goal after moving ball against BC defense with reverses, misdirection, mobile passing qb...too easy.
BC may be taking Wake too lightly.
This announcer loves Momah. He obviously hasn't watched much of his stone hands.
ReplyDeleteSo glad Skinner is gone. Maybe we can beat Harvard this year.
ReplyDeleteRettig starting to look like Matty Ice!
Beautiful deep ball from Rettig to Amidon! Really liking what we're seeing from Chase. He keeps his feet moving, has a quick release and has tons of arm strength.
ReplyDeleteAwesome effort by Harris, he is a stud
ReplyDeleteAgreed with BCNorCal, Rettig has made some nice passes
ReplyDeleteBest drive of the yeat
ReplyDeleteLenny, is BC basketball streaming now? Where?
ReplyDeleteOoooogggggaaaaa

ReplyDeleteBC BB feed for video...
TE hold too many of those this year.
ReplyDeleteDonny Fletcher hauls in tipped ball for BC's 3rd int of game.
ReplyDeleteRettig sacked for 11-yard loss...we need some separation from Wake...can't let them hang around. Delay of game against BC...blown opportunity after interception. Procedure penalty...terrible series.
3-39 good god
ReplyDeleteWell, we're setting ourselves up with nice punting position here.
ReplyDeleteQB draw?..
ReplyDeleteThrow the ball and get the pass int. Geez. Run was pointless
Anyone else getting echo sound??
ReplyDeleteOur offense is horrific! If I was a defensive player on this team, I would be irate.
ReplyDeleteWow, the secondary is having a field day! Kuechley, Noel, Fletcher and now Fox! Let's see if Nyquil has the guts to try a deep ball.
ReplyDeletePredictably dour playcalling at the end of the half.

Over/under on combined second-half points: 0.5
ReplyDeleteBC takes a knee to end on our 40 with ~30 seconds to end the half. Northwestern just drove from their own 20 with ~30 seconds left and scored a touchdown to end the half.
ReplyDeleteDid we leave the O Line in Boston? Can't run block and can't pass block. Give Retting time, and he looks pretty good.
ReplyDeleteWhere would we be in this game if not for the turnovers? And wow was Coleman wide open on that big pass play.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see some play-action off that I formation.
ReplyDelete"prevent offense" already. Good grief
ReplyDeleteAnybody charting BC's first down play-calling?
ReplyDeleteGod, I can't stand our prevent offense. Just left points on the board again. Draw on 3rd-and-6? Blocked field goals happen. Bad play-calling is inexcusable.
ReplyDeleteFreese is having a bad day.
ReplyDeletePretty pass to Swigert, although it nearly got him killed. Too bad he didn't allow himself to go ahead and catch the ball -- he wouldn't have been hit any harder.
ReplyDeleteTerrible mistake by Rettig. Just throw the ball away and punt. Freshmen drive me nuts!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Spaziani now wishes he hadn't declined to go for points the past few possessions.
ReplyDeleteGood lord!
ReplyDeleteIf you're going to play prevent offense, shouldn't you also play prevent defense?
ReplyDeleteToo bad Spaz-bore does not have any razzle-dazzle in his playbook. Rettig has got to learn to not force things when you are up 20-6. Wake has all of the momentum now.

ReplyDeleteEagle in LA,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link. Hilarious! Bringing back memories from the '06 season.
Are we ever going to see another play-action pass in the second-half of any game?
ReplyDeleteOnce again, this coaching staff shows no killer instinct. A TD here would have ended the game. Instead they don't even try and just play for three. Unbelievable. So glad we have TOB back on our sidelines. I don't care that Rettig is a true frosh. He had zero passing attempts on that drive. Why even put him on the field?
ReplyDeleteAnd as much as I complain, 23 points is a relative offensive outburst for us. We're averaging 18.8/game on the season.
ReplyDeleteWell, that'll do it. Good stand by the defense there. Never thought I'd see Holloway take over a defensive series like that. Very impressive effort from Max. Scafe has also had a very good game. And another win in spite of the offensive philosophy and coaching.
