  1. The first day in 12 years that BC has absolutely nothing to play for......very sad.

  2. Very sad indeed!

  3. Was at the game last year in Raleigh.. That game was anything but interesting..

  4. Rettig is very sharp so far.

  5. And I immediately jinx him. I'll just shut up.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I think the announcers also jinxed him. Or he just has bad vision. Either one.

  7. Are these announcers confusing Bordner with Rettig on this broadcast?
    Just wonderin'...

On another note--watching this game on ACC Select without HD is about as sad an experience as watching our coaches engineer a gameplan. Better enjoy this one, though, because the next two won't merely be sad...

  8. These all maroon uniforms are absolutely f-ing hideous. Whoever instructed them to wear these should be fired immediately.

  9. Finch really has better vision that Williams. As big and fast as Williams is, he seems to run right into tacklers.

  10. People are way too obsessed about uniforms. They look fine to me. It's pretty hard to screw up maroon and gold.

  11. You're right...it is hard to screw up, but BC managed to do so. It's simple: always wear gold pants. Maroon jerseys at home. White jerseys on the road. This worked for 100 years. What was the need for the change?

Can you imagine Notre Dame wearing all blue? Texas wearing all orange? USC wearing all red? It would be nice if this team had some pride in its appearance if it can't put quality product on the field.

  12. Announcers just said we have a tremendous coaching staff.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Have you seen Notre Dame's helmets for tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I do prefer the gold pants. Flutie had the gold pants and white jersey when he tossed the Miracle in Miami.

  15. The "faux-back" helmets? Ridiculous. Harkening back to a "traditional" look it never used.

I stand corrected. ND sold out too.

  16. Touchdown BC! Maybe we should chuck these UnderArmor Uni's, go back to the all gold helmets (not the new ND three tone pimp cadillac helmets with the Jolly Green Giant Shamrock they're wearing today...that's right, I said it.) and bring back the angry chicken and the big gold/maroon side stripes, and start HITTING PEOPLE and BLOCKING TOUGH UPFRONT...that's Old School BC. And hire a guy with wisdom and wit from an academy to coach? And show up for games like it's Church and and let the fans tailgate without stress and make this bold and fun and tell the Head Coach to be Positive and not talk like a Doomsday Donkey on national TV. And score more than 20 points a game...
    And Beat ND!
    Go Eagles! Be BC!

  17. I can't believe I switched over to paid programming on CNBC and I'm watching the Genie Bra ads. Someone let me know when the 2nd half starts.

You can get 6 bras for just $59.99 if you act today.

  18. Right on! The gold helmets of Flutie with the gold pants were perfect. We want wit and wisdom and Church. Spaziani doesn't cut it. He is cold and calculating and not the well loved emotional defensive coordinator that he once was. In just such a situation, Ara Parseghian was hired away from the Irish killer of Northwestern. BC needs to make such a bold move instead of the obvious scenario of bringing him back out of future probabilities based on recent wins against mediocre opponents.

  19. JBQ,

Even though I think Spaz lacks leadership skills, it is looking more and more likely that Gene is going to use the injury excuse and the fact that BC is playing so many young players and will grant Super Mario Mustache 1 more year.

I believe Jags was a charlatan, but Gene handled that so poorly that future coaches may question whether they want the BC job. If Gene were smart, he would have negotiated a huge buyout with Jags so that an NFL team would have had to pony up so Gene could attract a new coach. Much better than the public threats that created a lose-lose situation.

  20. Rettig seems to be struggling. I hate the qb shuffle but this team isn't going anywhere anyway. Might as well give Bordner a couple drives to see what he can do.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Spaz yet again made excellent adjustments at halftime. He's a master!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Rettig IS struggling...throwing the ball AT the NCState backs with consummate accuracy...The QB shuffle sux. If Keuchly wasn't playing this would be a friggen debacle. The announcers are only missing Jesse Palmer to qualify as Most Painful in The Universe.

Bottom line, can we score more than 20 today? Can Bordner throw the ball some? Maybe run a few keepers?

  24. I really have to question Brock on that Amidon sweep. The Wolfpack proved they could stop it on the last series so why was he going back to the well again? We get an opportunity with great field position and then proceed to go backwards.

  25. Luke had more tackles in the 3rd quarter than the BC offense had yards. Phenomenal halftime adjustments Spaz!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. great 3rd quarter adjustments. 0 total yards of offense. we will lose this game, and we wont score more than 20 points.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Fletcher may have just bailed out Spaz! Boy, did we need that big play.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Adjustments?? Adjustments?? How about just blocking somebody on 3 & 1? What needs to be adjusted is Heart.

    Pathetic.

  29. this game has 17-14 written all over it.

  30. This game is eerily familiar. BC hanging tough all game and then blowing it on the final drive. I hate to lose to The Hen like this.

Come on defense. One more stop!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Watched Loyola High win in OT 35-34 over Crespi last night after being down 22-7. That's Heart. The Loyola kids are sending Div. 1 recruits to Stanford, Boise State, UCLA et al.,...and BC has been nowhere around us looking for hot recruits...

Finally, a 4th sack to stop the Pack.
Let's see what we can do now...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Holloway. That's heart, right there. What a play!

    ReplyDelete
  33. There's the stop we needed! Boy, The Hen has that familiar WTF look on his face.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Margaritas all the way around!

Wishin'and hopin' we could bring some offense to ND, cuz the D today was tenacious against an inconsistent club--next week won't offer the same opportunities and we'll have to make our own. BC Nation--the Kid at QB needs to spunk-up and use some smarts, and the O-Line, too. It's great to see Spaz get emotional, but he;'s not a motivator--he's like Angry Dad who always tags a negative on the rare compliment. These are kids and they need coaching that puts the players first. Spaz starts out talking about the coaches first--Dude, the kids made the plays despite the damn coaches. True, McGovern was good today, but Luke & Holloway were Lights Out! The D line hammered NCState...It was The Kids.
    Go Eagles! Shock the Dome!

  35. When did we add a Baldwin logo to the back of the helmets? It belongs with the "stained glass" look and the all maroon unis; i.e., in the trash bin.

Gold pants--not maroon--not white--GOLD! How hard is that to get right?

I'm reluctant to comment on the actual game. The futility of it all depresses me.
