This is our first road test and a chance to gain a little bit of national respect. Or it could be a long day against a tough Northwestern team. Since it is sort of BC's birthday, I think we are due for some good luck.
I know plenty of people will be at Fenway or in bars, but feel free to leave your thoughts and comments below.

Anyone know if this is definitely on the Big Ten Network? Verizon Fios guide in Boston shows Umass Michigan on at 3:30.
ReplyDeleteI have AT&T U-verse and I think I have the game as part of my HD Services. The ALT HD channels pick up all of the BTN games. I guess I won't know for sure until 3:30pm, but the game is listed.
ReplyDeleteBoy, Virginia Tech looks unmotivated and stupid today. If PITT can improve, so can we. Or is VT that bad?
BJK,
ReplyDeleteI think Pitt came out on fire and ready to play, and VT thought they could coast by. Pitt's beginning the typical ACC upset early.
It is definitely on the Big Ten Network. I also have Fios in the Boston area. Try channel 330. Apparently they're only showing the UMass/Michigan game in HD, but BC/NW in SD.
ReplyDeleteor it might be 331... I forget... anyway, it's on one of the Big Ten Network SD stations (the Big Ten Network consists of several channels, like how ESPN includes ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, etc.)
ReplyDeleteBig Ten Network (on Direct TV at least) adds channels as needed each week. Direct TV has BC game at 3:30pm on 611 and 611-HD.
ReplyDeleteIs there an illegal stream anywhere? Need to squeeze in between church & reception. Thanks
ReplyDeleteVT loss shows that this year's schedule is not as hard as some thought.
ReplyDeleteLenny: I am watching on Directv channel 612.
ReplyDeleteJay: for illegal streams, I would check the different BC message boards. Someone usually finds one.
Tuned in on Direct TV and game is set for Direct Tv 612. Big Ten Network is very confusing as they show other games on designated channel until kickoff. I'm watching Michigan band now. Just switched with black screen to our game.
ReplyDeleteI have it and here we go. BC kicked off - out of endzone.
ReplyDeleteNU gets a quick 1st down.
we had the QB for a loss but he picked up the 1st down.
ReplyDelete2 bad defensive penalties.
ReplyDeleteOh Boy!
3 - 0 NU
Spiffy to the 37.
ReplyDelete3rd and 2
Evans good catch
ReplyDeleteAmidon good catch.
Elliott good catch.
Finch good catch
1st and goal
The drops remain killers. Amidon should have pulled that TD in. But still a nice opening drive. If NU doesn't get to Rettig, he's going to pick them apart.
ReplyDeleteGroan. No TV. Only option: Meter on the radio. Awful. Considering listening to Meter with volume off
ReplyDelete3 - 3
ReplyDeleteRed-zone inefficiency again.
We can move the ball on this team.
We can win if we don't shoot ourselves in the foot.
I'll give this a break.
Chase is making some great throws.
ReplyDeleteHeres the internet feed

How is Colter killing us again? Did we not watch last year's film?
ReplyDeleteI can't answer why we're not getting more pressure on Kolter. Good stops at the goal line though.
ReplyDeleteBC 2nd and 1 foot managed into a 4th and 16.
ReplyDeleteDang, those snaps should not happen.
ReplyDeleteWe have had all 3 games feature complete bonehead plays.
ReplyDeleteThis other QB is a better passer - he might kill us.
ReplyDeleteThe offsides on 3rd down by the rudolph was dumb, dropped TD pass should have been caught according to St. Pierre and botched snap.
ReplyDeleteOnly down 3.
Already frustrated.
Yah he is going to exploit our nice cushion. Also good to see we still can't stop screen plays after getting killed by them the past 3 years.
ReplyDeleteOur defense is not what it used to be.
ReplyDeleteHow can we not catch these guys? We look really slow on D.
ReplyDeleteNow let's open it up for Chase. Our only run plays should be draws.
ReplyDeleteThe only reason we "stopped" them was the receiver dropped the screen.
ReplyDeleteNU 9 to 3
ATL,
ReplyDeleteAnd we don't even look gassed. Just slow.
Anyone know if Brian Miller is playing today?
ReplyDeleteDon't know if Miller is playing. Naples has played a lot though...which is good.
ReplyDeleteThis is the weirdest OL in BC history. Very good pass blocking, but struggle when asked to move. Still better than last year.
ReplyDeleteBTN Broadcast is painful.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I spoke to soon about the OLine.
ReplyDeleteBJK, to be fair, the only reason why we're not winning is because our receivers have quite literally dropped the ball.
ReplyDeleteThis is sad - the Offensive line is terrible.
ReplyDeleteThe first drive was encouraging - now back to the sam old crap.
If we can't run, get Kimble in there for the pass out of the backfield.
We are really missing Pantale, Swigert and Larmond.
More missed tackles.
ReplyDeleteThis is starting to feel like last year's UCF game.
ReplyDeleteDid someone just forget to teach that?
ReplyDeleteNU has 3rd and 3 and we are giving their receivers a 10 yard cushion. I wonder if they will get a first do-... oh yes of course, they will.
ReplyDeleteOur arm tackles are quite inadequate.
ReplyDeleteDefense is slow and not aggressive at all.
Stupid Clancy penalty.
They will score now.
Good penetration by KPL.
ReplyDeleteThink this NU QB's name is really pronounced "Si-mee-un" like the announcers are currently doing?
ReplyDeleteNice stop by BC. Good noise from the BC crowd at Ryan Field.
ReplyDeleteFumbled exchange for a BC "stop".
ReplyDeleteWe'll take it on 4th and inches.
We can't run - stop the Tranquill offense.
Lucky penalty for us.
Very good stop
ReplyDeleteLet's see how Spaz manages the clock. Spaz screwed it up against NU last year before halftime.
ReplyDeleteAmidon and Rettig play well together. Let's get a score.
ReplyDeleteGood use of the time out there.
ReplyDeleteBill, to your point, it's good to hear the BC crowd on D.
WRs looking good this drive.
ReplyDeleteStop rushing the ball.
Take what they give us.
Coleman TD
Yes! Wonderful throw. Nice catch too!
ReplyDeleteBC 10 to 9
ReplyDeleteI have to get ready to go to dinner.
TD COLEMAN.
ReplyDeleteBJK, hopefully dinner will go quickly through the half.
Coleman is coming along. He's finally putting it together.
ReplyDeleteBJK, have your phone under the table.
ReplyDeleteThe only bright spot about our D being terrible is that most of our ACC opponents are mediocre on offense.
ReplyDeleteWe are lucky to only be down two after that half. Looks like it is going to be on Rettig's back again.
ReplyDeleteFinally got a Big 10 Network password. Saw the Coleman touchdown. Other than that, it does not look like I missed much.
ReplyDeleteWe're not getting any pressure upfront with the D-line. It's like they're running in place.
ReplyDeleteAnother nail-biter finish coming up. BC in this era is not good in close games. They need to learn how to win. It starts today.
ReplyDeleteWe have the worst hands in college football.
ReplyDeleteThat was not a good way to start the second half.
ReplyDeleteThese receivers have got to hang on to the flippin' ball!
ReplyDeleteIs glue illegal in college football?
ReplyDeleteFumble!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad Spaz went for it. Need to show confidence.
ReplyDeleteNice run by Finch!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I still hate the white stripe helmet.
ReplyDeleteThat was the most predictable end to the drive possible.
ReplyDeleteWTF!!! Can the offensive coaches please teach the running backs how to carry the ball!! This can be taught.
ReplyDeleteHe should never see the damned field again.
ReplyDeleteGoddammit
ReplyDeleteATL, what don't you like about the white stripe?
ReplyDelete10 yard cushion burns us again!
ReplyDeleteThis defense is absolutely pathetic as well. 9 of 13 on third down conversions.
ReplyDeleteThey are converting every play.
ReplyDeleteBoy our front 4 stinks
ReplyDeleteThat was a lucky bounce but I like the idea of going after Colter on the pitch.
ReplyDeleteWe are so lucky to be in this game.
ReplyDeleteWe are going to win.
ReplyDeleteDitch the run. It's not working.
ReplyDeleteI've been listening to audio. No video. But this is a really really bad defense.
ReplyDeleteMcGovern is bad news.
As much as we want to blame the defense, the offense has been crap also. 13 points? That is not getting it done. BC is going to need 21-24 points to win this game.
ReplyDeleteNow the defense needs to get a 3 and out.
ReplyDeleteI was just telling my wife last week that someone is going to get hurt doing those chest jumps. Bring back the high 5.
ReplyDelete3 and outs are going to be rare this season ATL.
ReplyDelete4th and 4, just through to the flat and you have 10 yards
ReplyDeleteThat was a lucky flag. NU had the conversion without it.
ReplyDeleteI meant "throw"
ReplyDeleteStop trying to run the ball!!
ReplyDeleteRettig had Amidon open early on that 3rd down and missed it.
ReplyDeleteI know there is 9 minutes left, but I feel like we won't get the ball back again.
ReplyDeleteWin or lose this is the most Spaz game of all time.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very, very bad BC football team. I think the only games they have a shot at are Army, Maryland and Wake.
ReplyDeleteATL, you are right, they are not getting the ball back
We called a timeout even though they had a hurt guy down
ReplyDeleteYet another concussion. You have to be insane to play this game.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't we all just cut and paste in any and all comments from last year on any game in which we scored less than 20 points, and save that energy on today's post for the misery session that will inevitably follow...
ReplyDeleteOh thank you KPL
ReplyDeleteAnother drop.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Mmason, I can just see this. Rettig drives from the 2 to the NW 20. A BC lineman will move too soon and we will be penalized the yardage and the 10 seconds and lose the game.
ReplyDeleteOr, BC will be in field goal range, Spaz will have Kimble run all the way to the left, and Freese will miss the field goal.

MMason,
ReplyDeleteI might just do that. This looks like a Spaz offense.
When did we use our first timeout? I don't remember that.
ReplyDeleteThat ball was touched in the end zone by a northwestern player. Terrible non-review by spaz. He's the worst
ReplyDeleteFirst order of business for Interim AD on October 1......Fire Spaz!!!! Make Martin the interim coach and get this black cloud aka Spazoo far away from Chestnut Hill.
ReplyDeleteWhat are the chances that we score, get the onside kick, and score again?
ReplyDeleteCan we please talk about how awful it was not to review the touchback on that punt ? Go back and look if you can. Ball was clearly touched by Northwestern while in the end zone.
ReplyDeleteIts inexcusable. What a worthless coach.
ReplyDeleteFire Spaz.
ReplyDeleteYou know #firespaz on twitter is trending now!
ReplyDeleteSpaz should be let go because he is not a good head coach.
ReplyDeleteHOWEVER,THIS GAME WAS LOST BY THE PLAYERS.
The Miami game was also lost by the players.
Too many dropped passes today according to the radio broadcast. The Finch fumble was egregious in its incompetence.
Lets put it this way, if Spaz were losing games this way last season he would not be number one on coaching hot seat. The bad losses last season were his fault. These games are on the players.
These players ought to thank their lucky stars that the majority of people in the Boston media do not care about BC football because some of them would be run out of town for their mistakes in the big college football towns. Sorry but, Amidon and Finch are who I am referring to specifically. They need to learn to control the ball when it is in their hands.
Ridiculous.
Not even getting started on the Defense. Just frustrating.
We are completely irrelevant by the way.
ReplyDeleteLook at the Globe sports section today. One story, like five paragraphs, buried in the back around stories about UMASS and Harvard. The Big Ten Network showed the UMASS Michigan game. The game was not on the biggest cable provider in the Hometown market(Boston).
We are completely irrelevant and out shadowed in New England by UMASS. Who SUCKS.
I'm pissed.
