In-game comments post: Army

Despite all the potential for a trap game, I am not worried about our matchup with Army. Let's hope it is a nice solid victory. If the game doesn't go our way, readers venting their frustration in this post should be entertaining. Leave your thoughts and comments below.

  2. What is the BC crowd like at the game?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Classic white on white.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Not a great first series.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Well that was dumb

    ReplyDelete
  6. It'd be nice to see Noel have a good game. Hasn't really been effective yet this season.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Why are we playing bend don't break against a run team?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Glad to see that Spaziani and McGovern had the team ready.

    ReplyDelete
  9. If we don't score on this drive, I'll be surprised.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Dudeck getting it done.

    ReplyDelete
  11. How is Army pressuring Rettig?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Rettig trying to force it because it was free play???

    ReplyDelete
  13. BJK,
on the sack, we got in our own way. Williams pushed the guard away.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Georgia Tech is going to kill us with this O.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Our defense is emotionless.

TWO fumbles by Army and neither recovered.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I really hate our defensive "strategy". And the lack of execution.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Our defense can't stop army.

    Pathetic.

Just crazy that the defense sucks this bad

    ReplyDelete
  18. There was a blatant hold on that run. I'm not saying Army wasn't going to score, or that our D was going to stop them, but a hold there nonetheless.

Atl, you're right. GaTech running the option will be like a hot knife through butter. To be fair to butter, our defense will probably give more easily.

    ReplyDelete
  19. When I go to Atlanta in a couple of weeks, I am considering not wearing my school colors - just regular clothes.

    How pathetic is that?

    ReplyDelete
  20. This is the worst BC defense since the mid-90's.

    Horrible!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Rettig is not very accurate today

    ReplyDelete
  22. How many points do you think Stony Brook would put up against this D?

    ReplyDelete
  23. BJK,
I'd still wear the colors. Solidarity is even more important in trying times.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Eagleboston,
I agree. Looks all out of sorts today.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Where's Spiffy? Not that I really care if he's playing or not, just interesting that he's not our return man. *scratches chin*

PS: I know this has been addressed before, but why are the "I'm not a robot" characters so goddamn hard? I'm on attempt #3. I think I got this one though....

    ReplyDelete
  26. Of course you are right, Ben, but I am just expressing my total frustration and embarrassment.

    Meanwhile, kudos to Army.

As an Army veteran, I am proud of them and their traditions.

Go BC - wake up, for crying out loud.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hey are the weird colors of the computer generated first down, line of scrimmage, and seemingly arbitrary "every 20 yard" line giving anyone else fits?

    ReplyDelete
  28. What has happened to Noel this year?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Darn lucky on that play.

    ReplyDelete
  30. BJK... the Spaz funk is contagious.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Wow!!! That makes me feel better.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Williams doing his best to break the Spaz funk.

    ReplyDelete
  33. That's got to be a school record for longest TD run.

An SEC defender would have run him down.

    ReplyDelete
  34. What was our longest TD run in history? Troy Stradford 95 yards against Maryland in the mid-80"s?

That will help our rushing stats. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Rettig just comes out and throws a TD to Amidon. Make it happen

    ReplyDelete
  36. Absolute gift but good play by Edibali.

    ReplyDelete
  37. God, Amidon is good.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Big,
Army had two fumbles earlier that BC had and lost. It is evening out.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Nice timeout! Love how Spaz acts mad after his ridiculous timeout calls.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Jesus that play seemingly works every time. Love it.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I knew that Amidon would be good as he matured, but this is tremendous.

I thought originally that as teams concentrated on Larmond, Swigert and Pantale, etc., Amidon would sneak some long ones.

That he is our primary threat and go-to guy is a great story.

Alex is hard-working, smart - and very fast! He is a great story for Boston College and a credit to his school and family.

    ReplyDelete
  42. anyone know what radio station this is on in boston? checked 680, 850, and 98.5...no dice.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Most triple option teams really struggle coming from behind. Also, I think Rettig and company will at least score 2 more TD's.

I take back my comment about an SEC defender running down Williams. He ran an 11.88 100 with pads!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Our O-Line is having big trouble with guys 100 pounds lighter.

Is Bollman as bad as Devine?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Look at Army with the hurry up. Weird that we don't have that in our gameplan. We're up aren't we?

    ReplyDelete
  46. William set an ACCrecord

    Old record

    ACC all-time record. Longest run

98 yards Steve Adkins Maryland v Clemson, Nov 18, 1978

    ReplyDelete
  47. So THIS is why Spaz saves his timeouts... in case the other team out aggressives us and goes for the field goal at the end of the half....

    ReplyDelete
  48. Stupid giving up FG

    ReplyDelete
  49. I........Despise.........Spaz.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I am going to try to find out how many spaz teams have given up scores right before the half.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Someone needs to do an analysis of how many games a Spaz-coached team has given up a score right before half. I'm guessing it is at least 8.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I guess that someone will be ATL. The current guess is 8. Any others?

Rettig sacked 4 times in the 1st half.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Out of what, 43 coached games? I'm going to go with 18.

    ReplyDelete
  54. This defense really pisses me off

    ReplyDelete
  55. I.......Hate........Spaz!

    ReplyDelete
  56. We shouldn't have to be struggling against ARMY. Ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Allowing 6.2 yards per rush against winless ARmy.

    ReplyDelete
  58. McGovern needs to be relieved of his duties, if not fired now.

If we lose this game, Spaziani needs to be fired before arriving back in Boston.

Do it by phone, Fr. Leahy.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I can understand why Spaz's defenses would have trouble against the triple option. He was only on the staff at Navy and played the military academies with regularity at UVA and BC. Has faced Georgia Tech in conference and played Navy in a Bowl. This is practically brand new to him. He just needs more time.

    ReplyDelete
  60. ATL,
You have me laughing. I'm depressed about our D, but you got me laughing.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Army is an 0-4 team

Losing to Stony Brrok, Wake, North 'll, and SD St.

And today, so far, a better football team than BC

Nonetheless I feel momentum swinginging our way Rey soon

    ReplyDelete
  62. 20 yard punt, fuq you Spaz

    ReplyDelete
  63. I don't like punting there. Even if we pinned them. This looks like it will be a shoot out. Need points on every drive.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Net 20 yards on punt. dumb

    Poor special teams play.

    Blah blah blah

    ReplyDelete
  65. Terrible defense, but good hustle by Edebali to save the TD.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Jim Noel injured...the BC defense is hoping he can't return.

    ReplyDelete
  67. This team is post gambling scandal bad. They are just awful and I don't understand why most people thought we would crush Army, we have zero talent and always have trouble with the option. We will win zero ACC games.

    ReplyDelete
  68. We should just run out the 3rd quarter....free timeout!!

    ReplyDelete
  69. If Army is getting to Chase like this I can only imagine what FSU will do.

    ReplyDelete
  70. FSU could also put 70 pts on us if they really wanted too.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Chase Rettig is starting to look like...ehh...Chase Rettig.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Wow. There isn't much to say.

This is a worst case scenario at this point.

Boston College must wait and hope for Army to beat itself.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Peanut,

Rettig's been sacked five times today. I would say the o-line is looking like the o-line. I would pissed if I were Rettig.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Al Golden can't arrive soon enough.

    ReplyDelete
  75. We will give up over 500 yards Army, if not 600 yards

They have 423 now. With a quarter to go

    I am embarrassed for them

    ReplyDelete
  76. Ben, I'd be pissed too if I was playing like this. I see your point, but his passes/reads the last 2 quarters are looking like the old Rettig. Hopefully he turns it around in the 4th.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'm not looking forward to GaTech.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Here is why this coaching staff needs to be eliminated - in the past 2 games, the BC offense has scored a ton of points in the first half, but struggled mightily in the 2nd. The other teams have made adjustments against the BC offense, but Spaz and Company have failed to do so.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Army has 3 players with over 100 yds rushing.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I don't want to hear inexperience against the option. How much experience did Stony Brook, Wake, and Northern IL have?

    ReplyDelete
  81. Army wants the game. BC does not.

The announcer just mentioned BC's "inexperience" - (in Spaziani's 4th year.)

    ReplyDelete
  82. Shall we discuss the absence of second half adjustments?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Let's see if we have any guts at all from this point forward.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Army has 400 yds of rushing, lol

    ReplyDelete
  85. McGovern hasn't made a 2nd half adjustment all year, as far as I know.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Jack

McGovern hasn't made a 2nd half adjustment all CAREER as far as I know.

    ReplyDelete
  87. McGovern needs to be fired as I mentioned above.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Do Army guys tire?

Yeah, I didn't think so either

    ReplyDelete
  89. touche Mod, touche.

Is it bad to hope for a loss and mid-season firing? Yeah...right? Hm....right?

    ReplyDelete
  90. This is pathetic. If Army wins, I'm not going to be able to show my face for weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Amidon-don, Amidon-don, baby!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Now back to our D and the aristry of Mr. McGovern.

    Not

    ReplyDelete
  93. Now McGovern's D will save the game.

Great play to put us ahead.

Maybe would should have considered a funny kickoff with that 15 yard advantage - but no go. A squibbly ground ball, maybe force a fumble.

    ReplyDelete
  94. As of right now, BC's opponents have had 251 one offensive plays in the last 3 games. Truly, truly pathetic.

    ReplyDelete
  95. the way Rositano slumped was not good. He looked like he got knocked out.

    ReplyDelete
  96. How tired is our defense?

    Yup. Real tired.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Rositano is concussed. Worst thing about this sport and what will lead to its downfall as soon as the lawyers flood in with lawsuits.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Did you hear what Spaz told the announcers regarding Asprilla. I think he thinks he's being charming when he throws the players under the bus.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Even if BC wins, Army totally outplayed us. They should be up by 10 or more right now. We are one of the worst teams in FBS.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Let them score.

    ReplyDelete
  101. They will score with no time left.

    ReplyDelete
  102. radio announcers saying boo is the new AD

    ReplyDelete
  103. At least Spaz is using all his timeouts here. He did something right this game.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Way to let 5 seconds tick off the clock before taking the last timeout Spaz. You deadbeat.

    ReplyDelete
  105. As Montel Harris breaks off a 35 yard TD run to seal it for Temple. Over 100 yards on the day. Good for him. But please, someone kill me if we lose this game.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Good stop for the Defense. Sylvia is a mess and makes plenty of mistakes, but he's tough.

    ReplyDelete
  107. McGovern is one lucky guy.

    Game not over yet.

    ReplyDelete
  108. What did Meter say on air regarding Corrigan? I am watching the TV broadcast.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Watch Army get the ball back and score with no time left. Playing to lose again with this offensive series.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Taking the ball out of Rettigs hands?

    ReplyDelete
  111. Even the announcers are calling spaz a pussy.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I don't understand taking the delay penalty there at all. You take 1 more second off the clock and give up 4 more yards. Ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  113. We deserve to lose this game. Do you believe the play calling, penalty and lousy punt?

    ReplyDelete
  114. Spaz is more incompetent than the umpire who screwed the Braves yesterday. WTF is he doing?! Fuck you Spaz. Fuck you.

    ReplyDelete
  115. This is a classic shit bag game from Spaz

    ReplyDelete
  116. Not a surprise with how many snaps out D has been on the field...

    Still. Freaking. Speechless.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Good bye Spaziani.

    It cannot happen fast enough.

    Congratulations Army.

Your first job, Corrigan is to fire Spaziani. He is a disgrace.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Meter was just saying to expect a big announcement Tursday. He highlighted Corrigan's work at Duke and ND as well as his father's connection with the ACC.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I..........Loathe..........Spaz!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  120. "Loathe" isn't a strong enough word. This is disgusting.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I hope this cause Spaz and McGovern to be fired Monday morning

    ReplyDelete
  122. Congratulations Army.

Spaziani needs to be relieved of his job before he gets back to Boston.

The 2 year extension granted by GDF needs to be investigated as a crime against Boston College. Our lawyers should contest it, and BC should not give this guy a dime.

I'm serious. It is blatant fraud, and Napoleon is probably getting a kickback.

    ReplyDelete
  123. The only good thing to come of this debacle is that it just about guarantees Spaz will be gone.

    ReplyDelete
  124. For the love of God is there not a backup goalie on the soccer team who can punt.

But thinking why would he want to play for Spaz instead of Kelly on a winning team

    ReplyDelete
  125. BC did get on the front page of foxnews.com for good reasons.
