In-game comments post: Maryland

If you measure enthusiasm for BC football based on in-game comments, then people are really down on the team. I think people are beyond complaining and the team is not providing many highlights to cheer about. Today we are favored. Maybe our luck will finally turn. Leave your comments and thoughts below.

  2. Long-time fan here. Attended almost every home game (and some road games) for ten years. I don't even watch on TV these days. BC football is dead. Wake me when Spaz is gone and we're at least competitive again.

  3. What a shame, this BC Football under Frank Spaziani.

I would have been happy for the guy if he was even half decent.

Now I just want him gone like everyone else.

  4. I hate to be a cynic but that fumble seems like a game changer.

  5. Well I think it's too early in the game for it to be that. But obviously not ideal.

  6. I'm with Walter. Defense just stopped them from scoring. Still three quarters of football to play. Or in Spaz's case, a quarter.

  7. Ok. We lucked out on points off of thr fumble. But we need more pressure.

  8. Is that really a good fourth down to go for it. Spotting them the ball at the 40.

  9. For those at the game: any guesses on attendance?

  10. I hate bagging on an individual player, but Levano has been terrible this year.

  11. Rettig is not looking comfortable. We need to get something going.

  14. The oline has not been good so far.

  15. What a low energy first half.

  18. Bill, I agree with you about the o-line. Getting pushed around heavily by the MD line.

Rettig does not seem comfortable in the pocket.

    We should be blitzing more.

    Side note, attendance looks decent.

  19. Retigg is not comfortable because we can't block.

    I agree about blitzing more

  20. Rettig has not been good since FSU. He needs a big second half.

  21. How come Williams's fumble at the goal line didn't put him Spaziani's doghouse?

  22. That was a nice drive. Of course I don't know what led to the field goal since the ESPN3 feed died.

  23. 0 for the day on third down. FG better than nothing.

    Go BC!

  24. Good passes to Amidon and Coleman got us into position.

  25. rettig has definitely looked very shaky. his footwork seems rushed and he generally seems jittery.

although it is their 3rd string qb, we are up 13-0 and that's all that matters.

can finch seriously not get a carry?

  26. BC needs to answer with a TD score. Field goals aren't going to cut it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Defense reverting back to old form. Too bad Clancy didn't make that INT earlier.

    Brutal - Sylvia overmatched.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Rettig is now gunshy.

  29. 3 and out - the game has changed. Oh boy - here we go

  30. Secondary receiver wide open

    ReplyDelete
  31. 2 star true freshman picking us apart in his first game.

    MD has all the mo

  32. BC got lucky on that drive. They had the open TD on 3rd down.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Need a big stand from the D now.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I am surprised that we didn't pick up the 2 1/2 yards by running the belly series.

  35. The most exciting part of this game has been the measurements.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Another terrible drive. Rettig needs to tuck and run a few times just to keep Maryland honest.

  38. 0 for 10.

3 and out on all 4 possessions of 2nd half.

Pull out some trick plays martin

  39. And there goes the lead...

  40. What can you say that hasn't been said.

66 Yard td pass and run that was all too easy

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm done. This is ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  42. What a waste of a season.

    ReplyDelete
  43. This is four down territory.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Rettig is getting lucky on this drive. Some of these throws are high risk.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Huge TD. Nice drive. Finally we answer in the 4th.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Wow - shut me up

    Great drive

  47. Ok this is step1. Late 4th quarter drive for the win! When is the last time a BC team has done that?

Part of becoming a winning team is learning how to win. Great job by the Eagles!

  48. 11 months and 2 days since our last win (no, the Maine scrimmage doesn't count)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Really happy for the players. It wasn't fun to watch, but the results are all that matter.

  50. Tailgating for 2 hours

Rettig and receivers superb on last drive

UNC over TOB - WTF ending

Ours was just as good or better

  51. After putting up with a crappy ESPN3 feed, then switching to cringe-inducing Meter on Radio, and then seeing Rettig and OL failing and failing, the defense gone porous, Rettig shows what he's got and wins it.

    A shockingly pleasant win.

    Yay. Good feeling to win

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'd love to see that entire drive again, because the ESPN3 feed was lousy.

It looked as though Rettig was pressured on every play, and the receivers were pretty well covered until Coleman's TD.

We were able to catch MD with 2 defenders for 3 receivers on the TD pass.

Great job. The O-line is not what we need it to be. They play hard, but can't hold off a basic pass rush.

MD's front 4 is pretty good, and they will be tough going forward.

Hip hip hooray for BC. It was tough to score on MD for sure.

  53. I hope this does not mean that Spaz gets another year.
