Men's soccer loses and other links

The Men's soccer team lost to a ranked Brown team when they allowed a late goal in the 87th minute. This lowered their record to 7-4-3.

BCI suggests that we pair up with Minnesota to fill our 2013 schedule holes. I like the idea of playing Minnesota but doubt we will make any decision until the new coach is hired.

HD posted her midseason report on all the teams including our own. She pointed out all the issues but was not particularly critical of how Spaz has managed the team.

Here is a good preview of the Georgia Tech matchup from Soaring to Glory.

This is from last week, but our Associate AD Eric Ziady got promoted to the head job at Delaware.

  2. From Ivan Maisel on ESPN:

Arizona fired Mike Stoops a year ago last week. By acting quickly, athletic director Greg Byrne got a jump on the rest of the field and secured Rich Rodriguez to replace Stoops before the season ended. No coach has been fired yet this season, but there are a few who are limping and quacking.

Any day now, firing season will commence. Hiring season will follow. Unlike for games, the scheduling is uncertain. But the second half of the season surely will bring that as well.

  3. Hey Atleagle - we still appreciate your daily efforts to keep us abreast of what's going on at the Heights.

But Spaziani has pretty much killed off everyone's enthusiasm.

Please don't misread the apathy - it has nothing to do with you.

Other schools would have fired this guy 2 years ago.

Spaz is making progress - backwards! These stats are gleaned from other posters.

BC has now allowed more yards on the ground in the 5 games against D1 opponents this year than it did in 14 games in 2008.

And the pass D is almost as bad.

This regression is enough to kill off someone's lifelong love affair with college football.

  5. Anyone know where Gabe Moton ended up? Said he was transferring last year, haven't seen him resurface anywhere.

I see this site says Moton transferred to that basketball powerhouse on Route 128: Brandeis

  9. speaking of hoops, HS recruit Garland Owens is supposed to make a commitment on Sunday; he's between BC and Seton Hall.

he's a 6'6 swingman with big time athleticism. he'd be a huge get and would give us a REALLY nice roster a year from now -- 5 juniors all of whom have gotten big minutes since their freshman year (anderson, clifford, heckmann, daniels, jackson), plus the 2 frosh this year as sophomores, both of whom should play a lot (hanlan and rahon) PLUS the ND transfer who's a great shooter, and then this kid (if we are lucky). i am hoping for a scintilla of good luck, BC hasn't had any in like 4 years.
