In-game comments post: NC State

This is the final home game for Rettig, Amidon, Williams and their fellow seniors. More importantly, it is the team's chance to become bowl eligible. NC State has some issues, but I am sure they will come out fighting. Let's hope our guys are ready to answer. Leave your thoughts and comments below.

  1. And most of all I would like to see these guys win this game for each other!

Go BC - beat NC State today.

  2. Just doodling and thinking that the weather has been very cooperative for games this year.

The Eagles will have no advantage weather-wise today - a great mid-November day for college football in Boston.

Their advantage will be in their can-do attitude.

  3. How was the crowd during the Senior Day presentations?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Don't know why we are using gimmicks on the kick off.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I was unable to make the game today, but the crowd looked pretty light as usual. It makes me sad that the fans can file in early for Senior Day.

Looks like a marvelous weather day on TV.

I transferred my tickets to the father of a player.

Looks like Freese was nervous on the firsy kick.

  6. Good opening defensive drive.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Great stop on the first drive there. The first missed opportunity on 3rd down had me worried.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Let's go, guys - stuff it to 'em early.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Anonymous12:41 PM

    Sparse crowd for presentations

    ReplyDelete
  10. If the defesensive start was solid, the offensive start was not.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Happy with the D so far.

    ReplyDelete
  12. O-line has been a huge improvement this year.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Amidon has got to catch that.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Benjamin: agree on the oline. Shows how important position coaching is.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I can't believe Amidon didn't get that. As much flak as Rettig receives, poor receiver play doesn't help him.

    ReplyDelete
  16. D's coverage looking more disciplined.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Amidon is doing a great job setting up blocks for Williams downfield. He may not be catching much, but he's still proving instrumental.

    ReplyDelete
  18. This team deserves a bigger crowd, for crying out loud.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Totally agree with John. This team may finish with five, six, seven wins, but they're getting back to their roots. Would be nice if a few northeasterners recognized that.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Have we used #43 Freshman CB John Jones before today?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Is that Marshawn Lynch? Beast. Mode.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Let's go Defense. Hold them and let's see if we can go 17 to 0 by halftime.

Let's hit a TE or Sinkovek on the next drive. Open them up for the Williams TD run up the middle. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Just what we didn't want.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Lots of missed tackles the last couple plays.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I can't believe this is going to turn into another nail-biter. The offense stalled and does not adjust to NC State playing the run and then the defense plays flat and slow to bring NC State right back into this game. Frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  26. You realize how close our margin for error really is.

    ReplyDelete
  27. We got this. Our seniors will feel it in the second half. Go BC

    ReplyDelete
  28. And then Myles Willis comes along and makes us all feel better.

    ReplyDelete
  29. That was a good response. It also shows that we can run this style of offense without Williams. I want power running next year.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Great hurry-up snap... Most teams will forego the huddle to prevent the defense from subbing... Few teams snap the ball within 4 seconds of breaking the huddle, preventing the defense from matching up.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Do not give up another end of half TD.

    Do not!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Great. Let's get some more now.

    ReplyDelete
  33. BC needs to play for a score here. Another Spaz-like end to the half will not cut it.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Well BC went all Spazzy and now have killed any chance of a score. And now NCST has the ball. Genius!

    ReplyDelete
  35. It's hard to get on Williams after his amazing performance today, but that turnover could be a killer.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Nice defensive stand at at least. BC should be up 3 scores, instead of 1 at the half.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Dodged a bullet there!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I may have jinxed Andre when I said to my wife earlier I didn't think he had fumbled all year.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Pretty good first half. I feel like we should be up by more, yet because of the turnover, I guess it is okay we are still up by 10.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Well let's kill their will in the 2nd half. If we can get up another 7 or 10, we might be able to really open it up in the 4th quarter.

This could also be a dog-fight, of course.

Go BC - take the suspense out of it in the 3rd quarter.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Let's put up 7 pretty quick here.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Let's start the second half with a long scoring drive.

    ReplyDelete
  43. three and out. Ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Pathetic opening drive. Rettig still is scared to throw the damn ball.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Wow - I thought we'd come out better.

    ReplyDelete
  46. That was a good sack from Edabali.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Based on the update, UNC is not going away. That's not good for our ACC bowl placement.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Throw the freaking ball!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Well, UNC proved on the field they are the better team.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Lots of drops today. Don't like letting them hang around.

    ReplyDelete
  51. 22 passing yards is pretty sad.

    ReplyDelete
  52. It's too bad CJ couldn't pull that one in.

    I liked the call, but.............

    ReplyDelete
  53. ATL: Way too many drops. Including some drive killing ones. Rettig isn't playing lights out, but he doesn't have to today. The receivers need to step it up.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Why are re refusing to catch balls on punts. That causes us 10 yards every possession.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Come on, BC - let's go.

    ReplyDelete
  56. In fairness to Mike Cloud, he set the record in 11 games. Williams is going to break it. Let's hope he does it next week, so that it is apples to apples.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I guess we'll ride the horse regardless of the number of defenders in the box.

    That's better.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Any chance Willis gets more touches? Williams always seems to hit a wall in the third so why not use Willis as a change-up?

    ReplyDelete
  59. We are really overusing Williams. This isn't NM State.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I like the idea of running with Chase (obviously).

    ReplyDelete
  61. Our D on third and short has been solid today.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Dudek is a punt return observer.

    ReplyDelete
  63. They were playing into the sun for a while, which is why the punts were bouncing... No excuses now.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Was that the fastest quarter of the year?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Williams is amazing!!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Let's get Willis to 100 yards.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Not liking that keeper there. Didn't work last time, didn't work there either.

    ReplyDelete
  68. This is not a good half for the offense. 3 points? C'mon Eagles! Don't let these guys hang in there.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Tech getting beat by Maryland? That's scary.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Anyone else getting nervous here?

    ReplyDelete
  71. I hope this doesn't turn into a sweat.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I'm pissed. The way too conservative offensive play calling is killing us. This has happened all season. When we have opened it up in the past, good things have resulted. The run game has dried up. It is time to do just what the Wolfpack did. Throw the ball and stretch this defense and THEN run.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Give me a break.

This is why I am always suspect of the eat up the clock mentality.

    We have a game, everyone.

That was a high school sand lot play they just ran with ease.

    But we'll grind it out.

    ReplyDelete
  74. BC playing not to lose yet again. They have basically been trying to run out the clock the entire second half. It is going to come back to bite them in the ass at this point. I predict next series will be another run, run, pass, punt.

    ReplyDelete
  75. ALso, can we teach the safeties to keep the receivers in front of them?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Jesus Andre..Just Jesus. You better be thanking him tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Williams is getting really lazy with the ball. I think he is exhausted. Willis has been excellent. Are they worried he will make a freshman mistake?

    ReplyDelete
  78. What a stupid fucking play call. Put those QB keepers into the dustbin. Just asking for trouble every time.

    ReplyDelete
  79. How about Rettig for laying it all out for a Senior Day play!

And screw what I said about opening things up. What the hell do I know? Williams now has the best 2-game performance by any rusher in BC history. I wonder what the NCAA record over 2 games is?

    ReplyDelete
  80. Keep pounding the ball... Just stop dropping it on the ground.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Is NC State trying to kill the clock?

    ReplyDelete
  82. Lots of missed tackles today by the defense. That needs to be corrected.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Yeah, prevent defense is fugly.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Would be nice to get Williams to 300. 2 records in 2 weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Doesn't look like it will happen today. So close yet so far.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Bowl eligible with two to play... Good work.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Plus Pitt and VT have rallied back, improving BCs chances in ACC.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Boy, our defense is very, very bad. Let's hope some freshmen can get on the field next year.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Well on the bright side, Williams has a chance at 300.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Glad I stayed to watch that run.

Re defense - ALJ seems to fall down a lot.

Great effort, BC - way to go.

    Beat Maryland!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Andre needs to be considered for the Heisman now! He is legit!

    ReplyDelete
  92. That was a great moment at the end of the game when Addazio addressed the crowd and students, and that the students could join the players at the field. Great, great moment.

    ReplyDelete
  93. 339 yards today, 634 in the last 2 games. About 1924 in 10 games so far. Unbelievable.

    ReplyDelete
  94. And let's credit Bates for the great hire. A lot of people criticized Bates but it has proven to be a great move. I never would have guessed after last season that this team could be turned around so fast. Although, we lose a lot of seniors that have been great contributors, so be prepared that next year could be a drop off until Daz's young recruits get their sea legs.
