In-game comments post: Independence Bowl

Before the season most felt that a bowl game would be a bonus. Now the game is actually here and it is an interesting matchup. Let's hope we get one more exciting game out of this team and one more big day out of Andre Williams. Leave your thoughts and comments below.

  1. Decent offensive start -- not including the INT. They are crowding the line, so it made sense to pass.

  2. That was a horrific pass by Rettig. Plus he had a wide open Andre. If we had a decent QB, we could have won at least 2 more games this season.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I am liking all the passing so far. If they're gonna give it to you, you might as well take it.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Not good that everyone outside Amidon can't catch the ball though.

  6. That last drop was not Rettig's fault. He threw it a little hard, but the receiver still should have caught it. It was perfectly placed.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Defensive woes.
    Very worrisome.

    ReplyDelete
  8. The defense is a major reason I am pessimistic about next year. I just don't see how they are going to improve that much next year and they were flat-out awful this season. However, if we get a better QB that can put some points on the board, my outlook will improve.

    ReplyDelete
  9. That was not a good defensive stand. We need to bring more pressure.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Rettig is looking pretty sharp today. Where was this quality of play all year?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Chase is playing well. That's good because I still think this is going to be a shoot out.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Nice drive. It's a little frustrating that we can score TD's, but I think over time, we can wear this defense down.

    ReplyDelete
  13. FGs are going to kill BC.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 55 yd 6 min drives for 3 won't cut it.

Horrible safety play on their td drive. Always the little things.

    ReplyDelete
  15. So far, Carey is winning the running back battle, but that may be more a function of him running against a much weaker defense than Andre.

    ReplyDelete
  16. The holes are now starting to open for Andre. They were there on that pass.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Rettig is working his way back on to NFL Draft boards.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I have been critical of Rettig's passing but I will never question his heart.

    ReplyDelete
  19. #77 is responsible for that sack.

    ReplyDelete
  20. We are going to miss Nate.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I like what the offense is doing. Now we just need the D to step up.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Questionable play calling in the red zones on both possessions. Got way too cute on that sack.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Like the gameplan so far.

They are keying on 44 on every play. At least we're trying to take advantage. The variety is good to see, right?

Big blown play by LT cost us.

    ReplyDelete
  24. If Rettig is out, I fear for our chances.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Roh-roh, Rettig is not going to be 100% the rest of the game.

    ReplyDelete
  26. That was uncatchable.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Who is the D-back coach? He needs to talk to these guys about not slamming into receivers while also not even looking back to the ball.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I wish our offense was this wide open late in the season. I think we might have beaten Syracuse.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Rettig limping. Dre limping. Ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ha. What a dumb play by punt dude. Thank u.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Let's give Andre a rest and let Willis work his magic.

    ReplyDelete
  32. That was telegraphed. Tough.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Rettig strikes again.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Good night. That's a shame because the BC defense had clamped down on Arizona after its TD too.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Well, Rettig needs to brush that off and try to get it back here. We can't fall too far behind as our offense is not designed for the comeback.

ATL, you really think Rettig is NFL material? I'm not seeing it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Back foot throw.

Listen, Rettig has had to play under tough circumstances for four yrs, but he's also had good rbs, and he's played for FOUR yrs.

I hope the nfl comment earlier was in jest.

Not because of that int, but because that's typical one step up, one step back Rettig. No consistency.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Frustrating. Only 6 points in the first half? Not good enough. They better figure something out for the 2nd half or this game is going to be a blow-out.

    ReplyDelete
  38. No spy on QB? Dude can barely throw. He wants to run.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Darn, that might be the game right there.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm shutting this sh*t off.
    See you next year.

    ReplyDelete
  41. This game is over. I'm done watching. Happy new year everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  42. The half was much closer than the score. We need to make some adjustments at half.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Double move. Nice route against below avg DBS.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I will watch to the bitter end even if it is a blow-out. I don't know why, but I have never stopped watching BC football. I should just turn it off and finish working but I'll keep watching.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I will say, we have major, major problems for next year. We lose too much and the younger players are not ready. We may be looking at a 5-win season next year. Long-term, Addazio will have us as a consistent winner, but please don't turn on him next year if we don't go to a bowl.

    ReplyDelete
  46. When we start recruiting skill guys from the south, we'll get better.

    ReplyDelete
  47. That Rettig Pick 6 just killed us. Completely destroyed all momentum. We need to get better QB's into the system to truly be successful. I trust Addazio will do so.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Rettig is in some very small sense like Tony Romo. You just know something really bad is going to happen eventually. You just hope it's when you're ahead.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Looking forward to that nedfromsavinhill post about the wonderful ACC.

Wonder if he watched Miami. And Ga Tech. This game maybe? Can't wait for him to extol the virtue of that fg win by Pitt over Bowling Green.

    ReplyDelete
  50. There is hope. If we can score before Arizona does, we will only be down 8. If Arizona scores first in the 2nd half, turn out the lights, the game will be over.

    ReplyDelete
  51. There's always the Sun Bowl and another PAC 12 drubbing of the ACC.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Obviously, this team is not built to rally.

    But stranger things have happened.

    Let's go Daz halftime speech.

    ReplyDelete
  53. A better dline would chew this QB up. Too bad.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Phillips catch was awesome. That wasn't a coverage issue.

    ReplyDelete
  55. This defense is so, so bad.

    Game over. Blow-out is official.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Disgrace. Not ready for prime time.

    ReplyDelete
  57. If BC comes out running, I'm going to hit the roof. The running game is done. They have stopped it all day. Open things up, go to the air and try to get some points back so the end result will not be too embarrassing. Running kills clock. We need every second we can get right now.

    ReplyDelete
  58. This is all on Spaz and his shitty, horrific recruiting. I can't believe we had to pay that clown this year.

    ReplyDelete
  59. We have Rettig. Fear not.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I just hit the roof.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I like this pace. Keeps Zona off the field.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Need the D to stop them now.

    ReplyDelete
  63. BC has to go for it. Seems like Daz has pretty much given up all hope now.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I fear these blow-outs will be the norm next year. We lose too many horses and other than Willis, none of the youngsters have impressed me.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Really needed to go for it there. Our guys need to be able get 3 yards with very little to lose.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Might want to cover Phillips.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I just found out that Advocare is one of those creepy multi-level marketing companies.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Did this team all get drunk down on Bourbon street and roll back to Shreveport at 4:00 AM?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Whatever you are doing at home for good luck...change it. Change seats. Change clothes. Do something.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Let's stick with the running game. Andre is due to pop one anytime now.

    ReplyDelete
  71. This game is gravy. However, to be blown out is unacceptable.

    God, our conference sucks.

Let's hear more of how much we're losing next yr.

That could be a good thing.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I thought Advocare was one of those nutritional supplement companies? Only reason I could think of for Jason Witten to be starring in one of their commercials.

    ReplyDelete
  73. And this is precisely why I cancelled my plans to travel to Shreveport, LA - good move on my part.

Boston College was not prepared for this game and showed much disinterest and aloofness - not a good combination.

Completely thrashed on national TV. Please don't quit, boys.

It's too bad, but Syracuse exposed our defensive ineptitude at crunch time in that game.

Let's get some yards for Andre so he can pass more guys in the 2000 club.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Doubt it CT, there is nothing in the pipeline outside of Willis. Addazio is the right hire, but we will take a big step back next year before being very competitive again in '15.

It's all about the Jim's and Joe's and we just don't have any right now thanks to Spazoo.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Az runs about 5 plays.

    ReplyDelete
  76. The D-back coach needs to be fired. How hard is it to tell the D-backs to look back at the ball?

    ReplyDelete
  77. I have not even mentioned this game prior to today and yet everyone in my office is giving me shit right now.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I am not expecting a comeback, but I do want the team to play better this half.

    ReplyDelete
  79. It's easy to say, very hard to do. People consistently oversimplify and over-rate the difficulty of doing that in game speed.

    ReplyDelete
  80. If it's just Jim's and joes, why the same roster and 5 game improvement?

In the nfl, the QB gets you fired.

See min, cle, det, wash, etc.

Ryan made even jags look good.

Rettig inspires little confidence, though I cut him a little slack with all the program turbulence. But he is still very avg. at best.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I agree with CT - except for a couple of teams, the ACC stinks. Against teams from major conferences, Miami was pathetic, Georgia Tech is pathetic (how did they beat Syracuse so badly - they suck) Boston College is pathetic and others will get killed as well.

Let's get this game into the 4th quarter..............

But that strategy was for a close game. :-)

Let's hope Coach Addazio can continue to bring in talent - and maybe in a couple or 3 years we'll have a chance, or we'll see the beginnings of that.

Thanks much to this Senior Class and this team - they did their best with what they had.

I dislike Rich Rodriguez and was hoping for a better showing

    ReplyDelete
  82. Anonymous2:59 PM

    7-6 beats 2-10

    ReplyDelete
  83. It's tough as a fan to not live in the moment.

I think BC fans need to do just that.

However, to be blown out is indeed a step back after two or three steps forward.

I also hate the fact that there are essentially five of us posting today and that also inspires little faith in the fan base.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Better balance next yr will serve us well.

We're the pro style version of Ga Tech's high school offense.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Well, it looks as though we quit in the 2nd quarter.

I knew that Arizona was a better team, but this is tough to watch.

This loss is now much worse than the USC loss.

I hope Rich Rod calls off the dogs.

What happened to Coach Brown's defense anyway?

    ReplyDelete
  86. Ct, I completely agree, the QB position is vital. Which concerns me. Who is going to be the QB next year? Bordner? Nice kid but not a great quarterback. Suntrup? I heard his career is over due to injuries. That leaves Lowrie and Walsh. Don't know anything about those guys. Wade the true freshman? I guess Flacco came from Delaware so maybe that is the hope.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Rettig got hammered!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Glad to see we are moving the ball on Arizona's scrubs

    ReplyDelete
  89. That was a travesty of a block on the 2-pt conversion. Glad to see the Oline is letting Rettig take a few more shots to remember them by.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Wow. What a bad play call for the 2 ptr.

Ha. Awful. Especially bad when LT missed another block.

    ReplyDelete
  91. We need Tyler Murphy to transfer

    ReplyDelete
  92. Danny Boy, ha, you're right.

Hey, we've got 12 mins to build more memories.

    ReplyDelete
  93. We need Tyler Murphy to transfer

    ReplyDelete
  94. Fear not - Colorado put up 62 against us in 1999, and then we went on a very nice run of 8 straight bowl wins, I think.

We got 28, but I seem to remember that a lot of that was well into garbage time.

Go BC - hold Arizona under 50.

    ReplyDelete
  95. We have seen our last play from Rettig - best of luck, Chase.

I think Williams is done as well. Thanks for all the great moments, Andre - you were really something this year.

Thank you all seniors - you did us proud.

    Empty the bench completely, Coach.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Dang coach should have let Andre at least pass Marcus allen

    ReplyDelete
  97. Now onto the soft a@@ basketball team

    ReplyDelete
  98. This senior class has endured.

For that, they certainly deserve our appreciation.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I know Rettig and Andre and the Oline get a lot of scrutiny, but this defense needs to be rebuilt.

    Sad ending, but good season.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Agree, CT - Defense needs to re-evaluate.

BTW - it's halftime of the UCLA - VT game.

I saw the highlight of the shot Logan Thomas took after a dump off pass.

The defender should have been ejected.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Daz knows he is tied to the next QB.

This one was on the house.

    The rebuilding can begin.

Too bad the easiest way to prominence, basketball, is overmatched.

    No excuses for that program.
