Back to normal

I didn't get to watch the game today. (Real life comes before blogging.) I did get to listen to most of it on satellite radio. It happened to be the Miami feed, which proved interesting. The announcers obviously focused on the 'Canes, but were very respectful of BC and yet sort of matter of fact in our ineptitude. This was our eighth straight loss to Miami and our 42nd double-digit loss under Donahue.

Steve Donahue is a great ambassador for the school. He's not a great basketball coach for the school. As much as I enjoyed the Syracuse win and hope he lines up other elite recruits to join Miller, he's not the guy. I may try to watch the game Sunday, but I don't know if it is even worth it. Syracuse was an anomaly. This is who were are and who this team is. I expect more of the same as the season plays out.

  1. I'd love to have someone simply ask Coach Donahue why his team has regressed hugely from last year, why his team cannot play basic defense and why he thinks he has done a good job this year and has earned his $6MM + comp package from BC? For a guy making $1MM a year - these are pretty fair questions. I'd really like to hear what he has to say about the season in some depth.

  2. How in the name of God can a team who pulled it together enough to beat the #1 team in the country lose to a very mediocre Miami by 27 points??? Did they forget everything they did to beat Syracuse in 2 days? I am completely baffled.

  3. And that huge margin basically came in the second half. I wouldn't even bother watching Atl. Not worth it.

  4. any chance Kellogg would leave UMASS? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derek_Kellogg

he has done a great job there and is from the region

cannot wait until the leaf is turned over with the coaching. i can't take any more of this; last 4 years have been such a waste of time.

The reason is because Miami has a coach who has forgotten more about hoops than Onahue will ever know.

  6. The only thing worse than BC's team defense is its individual defense. Just watch their footwork on the dribble penetration. It is uniformly atrocious. And watch how Jackson provides "help" by waving his arm at the passing driver. It's not obvious what aspects of the game these guys do work on, but it certainly isn't one-on-one defense.

    Stop the trash talking.

    Donahue has a signature win

    Donahue has a signature recruit

    Donahue has a long-term contract

Donahue will be the BC coach next year.

    Haters gonna hate

  8. Stop sniffing the glue

    And open a window

Donahue has two years left on his contract.

If Donahue is the coach next year
then Bates should no longer be AD the following year.

Haters always gonna hate pathetic incompetence and feeble excuses.

Relatives, Donahue's staffers, people who are high and his dog always gonna love.

  9. Unfortunately, "eagle" is right. Donohue has a big win and a big recruit. I don't think that he can do the job. However with 2 years left on his contract, I don't believe that anything can be done unless there is a buyout clause.

  11. trolls will troll.

JBQ, 2 years or 10 years, contracts can be terminated. his "signature recruit" averages 9 pts and 6 rebounds (if we are talking about the kid for 2015). its a testament to how low the bar currently is that we celebrate a guy with other D1 offers as a "signature recruit."

we are 7-20 this year with 4 games to go. we finished 9-22 2 years ago with 7 freshman and a grad student. completely inexcusable to not only not improve at all but actually regress over the course of 2 seasons.

ATL, when is the next coaching profile on potential new hires? thats the only thing to look forward to with this abysmal team.

  12. @El Miz: I happen to agree with you, troll or no. However if you remember with Spaz, the university refused to abrogate a valid contract. It wasn't Flip then nor the "Bates Motel" now who will make that decision. It is the red headed "Fireman in Chief" who wears the "pointed hat".

  13. If they don't can this bum we might as well go into the Patriot league.

  14. JBQ - Spaz got fired with years remaining on his contract. same will happen to Donahue.

BC is not eating another contract. Private universities are getting squeezed lately. Fire Donahue and pay big money for a dream coach? I can't see the Jessys going for that

Plus, Bates has balls as big as dried green wasabi peas. He was afraid to can Spaziani.

And they should hold onto Mr. Donahue. Over his first 4 seasons, Donahue and Skinner will have almost identical records. And Skinner did not have to deal with the loss of 7 footer. Don't hate, put things in context.
