In-game comments post: UMass
A new season starts against an old foe. However, now UMass is FBS we can call it the "Battle of the Bay State." If the season is going to be special, it starts today. Leave your comments and thoughts below.
I was just saying the same. I've spent a lot of the past couple years watching BC on my laptop. It's improved drastically. Maybe we will too and move off the Ocho and onto TV haha.
It's a good rule so you can't cheat in that situation. You can't just take a penalty to stop the clock and get a free TO. BC is just really stupid to commit those penalties with under a minute left.
would Spaz have ever started a drive from his own 30 w 1:18 remaining? Then gone for it on 4 & 2 on same? Or have a QB of his QB rush for 92 yrds? Let's keep some perspective, good brother. There was plenty of good and plenty of bad in that half. Not sure it reveals a whole lot about the remainder of the season. But one things for sure: Daz ain't Spaz.
The game is not on TV. And to make matters worse, the Notre Dame Alumni Association is watching the ND/Rice game at a bar right below my office. Every time ND scores, they blast that stupid fight song.
Mod, I believe a linebacker was blitzing on the UMass TD. I could be wrong, but at any rate, you subtract that play and the defense has played well. I'm a little concerned about the pass defense, especially when we go against ACC talent, but I'm hoping they can get better as the season progresses.
I think you have to give the offense a lot of credit. When Williams, the right guard, went down, that could have been tragic but they plugged in Kramer and did not miss a beat.
Let's go, Eagles!
ReplyDeleteVery happy with the Super Fan turnout.
ReplyDeleteFYI, ESPN3 has come a long way. The feed looks great.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Much better picture. Thank God we live in the 20 teens!
ReplyDeleteGood first defensive drive. I would like to see more pressure though.

ReplyDeleteDamn penalties. Absolute drive killer.
ReplyDeleteNot a bad first drive. It shows that there are plenty of big holes for Murphy to run through.
ReplyDeletePenalties kill as always but Murphy has looked pretty decent so far.
ReplyDeleteI see the defense has made zero progress since last year.
ReplyDeleteThere is the first sack we need.
ReplyDeleteMurphy really does change the whole offense.
ReplyDeleteAside from the penalties, the offense looked good.
ReplyDeletenice moves by Willis
ReplyDeleteAnd Rouse!
ReplyDeleteKiller penalties, but moving the ball well. Need a few more wrinkles in the red zone too.
ReplyDeletePlaying with fire. Can't put the ball in the end zone year after year.
ReplyDeleteBentancourt is killing us!
ReplyDeleteUmass is one play away from giving us all heartbreak. We have been inside the 30 3 times and have just 6 points to show for it.
ReplyDeleteCome on guys
ReplyDeleteDefense has been really shaky too
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell has happened to the discipline of this team? They have more penalties in the first half than they had in several games last season.
ReplyDeleteDon't we need to go to the air here? Time is ticking.
ReplyDeleteMurphy forced that pass.
ReplyDeleteI guess that is why we don't go to the air. I like Murphy's running, but all of his throws have been shitty.
ReplyDeleteThe really bad feelings are starting to get stronger.
ReplyDeleteWe should just blitz every play. He can't handle it.
ReplyDeleteWe were lucky to get away without letting them score.
ReplyDeleteAnd even more penalties.
ReplyDeleteI f&^%$ hate that rule. It is a double penalty and that cost is the Northwestern game 2 years ago.

ReplyDeleteUgly, ugly, ugly first half. Even if we survive this one, I have grave concerns about the Pitt game
ReplyDeleteThere is a lot to like about the first half. The score is not one of them.
ReplyDeleteAre we back in the Spaz era again? Terrible, terrible half of football.
ReplyDeletePitt is good but they are like us.

ReplyDeleteWe need a good drive to start game. Letting them hang around.
ReplyDeleteI need to edit my earlier comments about the defense. They only allowed 84 yards in the first half. That's pretty darn good.
ReplyDeleteThat was obviously said in jest but thanks for your input
ReplyDeleteMemo to the OC named Ryan Day: your game plan is dull, predictable and ineffective. Please loosen it up.
ReplyDeleteIs this game on tv in Boston?
ReplyDeleteEven these crappy announcers have criticized the play calling for being too predictable. This Bama game is tempting to watch instead.
ReplyDeleteHappy my "Smart TV" picks up game nicely
ReplyDeleteThe game is not on TV. And to make matters worse, the Notre Dame Alumni Association is watching the ND/Rice game at a bar right below my office. Every time ND scores, they blast that stupid fight song.
ReplyDeleteIs the Ryan Day "grind it out" approach the plan for second half?
ReplyDeleteAlston!!! Get him the ball!
ReplyDeleteOK inside the 30 again....no penalties!
ReplyDeleteGo for it!
ReplyDeleteI love our running game, but we might want to toss in a pass on 1st or 2nd down just to keep them guessing.
ReplyDeleteWhy no play action??
ReplyDeleteTD !
ReplyDeleteThat was a good drive. We just need to throw a bit more.
ReplyDeleteAwesome, now we have some breathing room. Time of possession is 35 minutes to 9 minutes.
ReplyDeleteAndre may be gone but the running game has not missed a beat. We just have multiple backs instead of just one. We are up to 259 yards rushing.
ReplyDeleteNow I feel better. I think Murphy can carry an offense.
ReplyDeleteLet me add another difference: Halftime adjustments #DazNotSpaz
ReplyDeleteWhelp just when you thought BC had the game in the bag
ReplyDeleteWell, when you blitz, it's gonna burn you at times. Let's hope that is not a momentum changer and the offense can put together another long drive.
ReplyDeleteWas the TD the result of Brown gamble. Keyed was blitzing. DBS cheating forward. Seemed like it
ReplyDeletePlenty of guys are going to be wide open if we run like we do. Nice throw and catch.
ReplyDeleteYay Bordner! Good job. The TD at Turtle speed. Ha!
ReplyDeleteI am not worried about losing this game, but I really think a stop is important on this drive. Need to set a tone for the season.

ReplyDeleteYes Keyes blitzing
ReplyDeleteIn a game like this Murphy needs to be careful. Don't get hurt in a game that is already over.
ReplyDeleteThere goes Wade's redshirt.
