In-game comments post: USC
The oddsmakers don't like our chances and last year's game wasn't fun. But under the lights at Alumni could mean a whole different vibe. Let's make it a good one. Leave your thoughts and comments below.
OK, Thomas...let's see in the ACC: Miami's winning, NC State, too, also Duke, UVA a winner, GTech winning, Pitt & 'Cuse too...That's a joke? ... Who's left? Oh, yes. The Eagles of BC... Hope you have them losing, too, cuz then we got a winner coming! Always Believe in BC? Why not? Those other jokes are winning... ob la di, ob la da. Go Eagles!!! Beat those Trojans!
Yeah mmason is obviously 3 sheets to the wind already, but that statement was made when VA Tech was down 21, Pitt was down 16(to FIU), and GT was in a dog fight with Georgia Southern. And then Louisville lost.
I'm pretty surprised that USC hasn't started throwing the ball down the field. BC's secondary is pretty bad, and USC has the athletes to get open. It's like Sark never even scouted BC's first two games.
Although, why wouldn't BC go for 2 even after the penalty? No difference between a 12 and 13 point lead at this point. BC needed that 14 point lead. Really odd decisions by Daz today.
As I said at 5:39: ALWAYS BELIEVE IN BC... The Murph is legit, the line is a Force, the special teams are amazing and the defense grew up. These are kids who learned and coaches who prepared. BC finally has a team that doesn't back down or play soft. Go Eagles! Great Day for Boston College! (Oh, and ,Thomas -- better watch your mouth, boy. This is BC. Have some respect. Don't post on the ACC when you don't know what you're talking about. Who's a joke now, Tommy? Wait--You wouldn't be Tommy Trojan, would you?)
That was one of the biggest one week turn-arounds that I can remember.
That was coaching.
Any Daz disbelievers now? Tackling is about attitude. Day took advantage of what Murphy does best. Hilliman is the future.
At the risk of hyperbole, and knowing that Stanford game took its toll, this is a program builder. Recruit. Recruit. Recruit.
Imagine if this QB could throw. Imagine if we had any WRs who scared people.
Not especially talented defensively, but it's amazing what good tackling can do. And we got more pressure on the QB than my Falcons have gotten in two seasons!
We have the blueprint for the year. Stay ahead of down and distance.
Thank goodness USC cheated with Reggie Bush.
Didn't see Pat Haden on the field this week. Can he play defensive tackle?
Mmason, ignoring the fact that the ACC did get pushed around most of the day and then bashing me for commenting about it is silly at best, classless and ignorant at worst. As a BC alum, I'm as happy as you are we sent the Trojans on a 6 hour flight back home with a L.
ACC busy making a joke of itself this week already
ReplyDeleteOK, Thomas...let's see in the ACC: Miami's winning, NC State, too, also Duke, UVA a winner, GTech winning, Pitt & 'Cuse too...That's a joke? ... Who's left?

Mmason--I believe Thomas is referring to the ranked ACC teams so far: bad losses by Louisville and Va Tech.
ReplyDeleteAnd that doesn't include the pathetic Ga Tech performance either.
ReplyDeleteYeah mmason is obviously 3 sheets to the wind already, but that statement was made when VA Tech was down 21, Pitt was down 16(to FIU), and GT was in a dog fight with Georgia Southern. And then Louisville lost.
ReplyDeleteGO BC!
Rainy but seems like a good crowd - USC has a strong contingent here.
ReplyDelete7:50pm and 5K in the stands.
ReplyDeleteIn all seriousness - our fans suck with this late arriving s*%t.
ReplyDeletePaul Johnson needs to go.
ReplyDeleteUp 35-10 at half, down 38-35 with two min left, late TD to win.
Ga Southern's first year as FBS. They should've beaten NCSU.
High school offense not good for recruiting.
ACC is minor league football.
ReplyDeleteMore USC fans than Boston fans for the run out.
ReplyDeleteWhat's up with the end zone seats?
ReplyDeleteGreat play call on 3rd down. Or not so much.
ReplyDeleteBig Jack, if what you say is correct, that is very disappointing. I don't remember this lack of support back in the 80's but maybe my memory is hazy.
ReplyDeleteUSC gets the lucky bounce that BC never seems to get.
ReplyDeleteYou can't run outside on this USC defense.
ReplyDeleteNice drop.
ReplyDeleteMy God, we have recruited receivers that can't catch a pass right in their hands. The horror!
ReplyDeleteThat one miss is a game changer and may cost us 7 points. Frustrating!
Yeah, nice downfield block. Cheaters.
ReplyDeleteWould be nice to have WR who can catch.
This is all on Callinan. Unacceptable!
ReplyDeleteI think the defense has been playing very well but you can;t expect them to defend a short field.
Much better tackling, though.
ReplyDeleteNo skill outside.
Put in Flutie! He has the "it" factor.
ReplyDeleteWe're are in big trouble. Our ball control offense is not designed for the comeback. It does not help that the offense can't get one first down.
ReplyDeleteKeep running inside
ReplyDeleteHillman is a stud.
ReplyDeleteSmash mouth!!! I love it!
ReplyDeleteSC cheerleaders. They always win.
ReplyDeleteLeave it to us to miss the Xp.
ReplyDeleteClassic, every time I go negative, we score.
ReplyDeleteKeep pounding inside.
Darn, missed PAT. Boy do we miss Freese.
Always the best in college.
ReplyDeleteAnother short field. Killing BC!
ReplyDelete#89 really blew containment on the kick off
ReplyDeleteOut coached on the screen.
ReplyDeleteGreat call.
That was way too easy. BC looks like it's stuck in quicksand.
ReplyDeleteThat's a dagger. You think you are back in it, shitty kick-off coverage, then a quick TD. Ouch.
ReplyDeleteTheir 55 schollies are worth 155 of ours.
ReplyDeleteLike the up tempo.

ReplyDeleteJust let Murphy run all day. He's the only guy fast enough.
ReplyDeleteRunning right at them.
ReplyDeleteGotta get the def to make a play, huh?
The defense is so much better when they are not forced to defend a short field.
ReplyDeleteDon't like timeouts coming out of a timeout.
Would prefer to keep running right at them.
ReplyDeleteThey can't have depth with the sanctions. Can't hear the tube, sure they've mentioned that.
CT, they are talking about it every 2 minutes.
ReplyDeleteOk. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWe needed to get a first down on that drive. Got to wear these guys down, but now they get much-needed rest.
ReplyDeleteDropped passes are crushing us!
ReplyDeleteWow. Now that's bad.
ReplyDeleteMy kingdom for a decent WR.
ReplyDeleteMurphy is just not a passer. He really makes BC a one-dimensional team.
ReplyDeleteBut, this one is on Bordner. Another score before then half will be devestating
Call a timeout so we can get the ball back.
ReplyDeleteCan Josh Bordner just take a seat on the bench and never get into the game again?
ReplyDeleteBig stop. Nice. Def is a thousand times better.
ReplyDeleteGood tackling. Amazing what the other team's uniforms will do.
Speed is good.
ReplyDeleteThe Sherminator!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow Alston is fast. Where has he been so far?
ReplyDeleteWow, this is such a better feeling than last
ReplyDeleteyear.
ReplyDeleteThey do need to find more ways to get the ball to Sherm.
ReplyDeleteDamn, I wish we didn't waste that timeout coming out of a timeout.
ReplyDeleteVery impressed with play-calling and execution.
ReplyDeleteTackling, too.
Good coaching.
Go for it. WTF?
ReplyDeleteGet two yds and spike it.

ReplyDeleteKicking game is atrocious.
ReplyDeleteWow. Conservative.
ReplyDeleteWe're crushing them with the run.
Why is BC kicking a long field goal in the rain on third down with 19 seconds left?!? Anyone could see that coming, esp. after the freebie.

ReplyDeleteHate the call. Play to win.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, good half.
Get the ball to Sherm and Murphy.
What the hell is Daz talking about? It was 3rd and 2; a first down stops the clock! 19 seconds is enough for at least 2 plays with a FG attempt.
ReplyDeleteIdk what will happen but this is the most fun I have had at a game in Alumni since pre Spaziani for sure.
ReplyDeleteDon't like this no receiver nonsense at all. Have to keep USC honest somewhat.
ReplyDeleteNoi matter what the outcome, I can't believe I didm;t follow the old motto under cowboy Jack -- Always Believe in BC.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping USC starts to wear down. Defense playing awesome!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty surprised that USC hasn't started throwing the ball down the field. BC's secondary is pretty bad, and USC has the athletes to get open. It's like Sark never even scouted BC's first two games.
ReplyDeleteBC defense went away from what worked and only sent 4 that entire drive. Fun times. Typical BC though.
ReplyDeleteMore zone option please!
ReplyDeleteUSC gets a star defensive player back for the second half.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, why wouldn't BC go for 2 even after the penalty? No difference between a 12 and 13 point lead at this point. BC needed that 14 point lead. Really odd decisions by Daz today.
ReplyDeleteMan, I'm still nervous.
ReplyDeleteThis is killing me.....damned miss extra point.
ReplyDeleteWhich begs the question, why the hell did they not try for 2 again?
ReplyDeleteOffense needs to stay loose. Get just 1 first down and game is over.
ReplyDelete436 yards to 20. Wow!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIs this the same team that played Pitt?
I was at that '88 game. Brutal.
Red Bandana!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats ATL, for calling this game.
ReplyDeleteWhere does this fit in BC history? Certainly the biggest game since Ryan's comeback at Va Tech, but I think this might be even bigger than that.
Huge, huge win for the program.
Pitt is way better than people think.
I will gladly eat my earlier prediction. This zone option needs to be utilized prominently going forward.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate all the comments. I kept off of the blog and twitter in order not to jinx us.
ReplyDeleteAs I said at 5:39: ALWAYS BELIEVE IN BC...

One more thing before my last beer.
ReplyDeleteSpeed.
It kills.
Please. Recruit. More.
