In-game comments post: Virginia Tech

The weather forecast for Blacksburg looks terrible. I remember another bad weather day in Hokieland a few years back. That ended well. I don't need the same dramatics now...just another win. Leave your thoughts and comments on the game below.

  1. Here we go Eagles. Here we go.

  2. Looks like BC-VT on ESPN3 blacked out in Mass. and most of NY?!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Looks like Va Tech has been watching some film. Our pass defense is horrible.

    ReplyDelete
  4. just an atrocious first drive for the defense. embarrassing.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Our offense is going to have to score a lot of points today.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Well that defensive series was laughable. Expect more of the same.

    ReplyDelete
  7. wow that is bad defense

    ReplyDelete
  8. El Miz,

Great offensive scheme by Va Tech. Our defense has been vulnerable to the pass all season. The only reason USC lost to us is because they were stupid and went away from the pass.

I don't like the feel of November for this team. Bowl eligibility is going to come down to the Syracuse game and that makes me extremely uncomfortable given our history with them.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Boy, I know everyone loves Murphy but his stats on 3rd down are horrific. He just can't lead the offense to convert 3rd downs.

    ReplyDelete
  10. OK, if we don't at least get a field goal here, I'm going to be irate.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I am officially irate.

    ReplyDelete
  12. 1st and 20 and you are running the ball? Huh?

    ReplyDelete
  13. On a cold, rainy day, on the road, no one ever looks back and regrets blowing amazing field position with back to back false starts...

    ReplyDelete
  14. That drive was killed by the penalties. Should not be doing that this late in the season.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Howell saving the day.

This is sort of what I expected. We need to stick to the run and zone reads with Murphy. We cannot beat them through the air.

    ReplyDelete
  16. C'mon guys, enough with the penalties.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hilliman should have cut it inside on the 1st down and I think he could have netted a few yards instead of losing 1.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hilliman looks so tentative. He slows down going into the hole and loses all of his momentum. He's wasting one of his best tools.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Looks like BC was out to prove you wrong there Atl.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I feel a little better but we have had great field position and have only come up with 7 points. The defense is going to have to defend a shorter field which means Tech will be able to open it up more.

    ReplyDelete
  21. oh my, the pass defense is bad news so far... will don brown adjust??

    ReplyDelete
  22. Bad special teams followed by a big play over the middle. Ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  23. BC is making way too many mistakes to win today. The drive killing penalties, poor kickoff coverage and missed assignments in the passing game are fixable, but they better start executing.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hate the DB's leading with shoulder to hit instead of wrapping.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Wouldn't that have been an illegal pick and not the easy TD this announcer is saying?

    ReplyDelete
  26. WTF was Dudek thinking on that kickoff?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Another stupid mistake. A fair catch on a kickoff??

    ReplyDelete
  28. Get Hilliman out of there. Not his day.

    ReplyDelete
  29. We need a stop on this drive or the game could get away from us.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The whole season could get away from us. We are looking at 0 for November if we lose this game.

    ReplyDelete
  31. agree ATL. need defense to do something here

on O, need to throw more....to unpack the box...

    ReplyDelete
  32. We need to play much better the rest of the way.

    ReplyDelete
  33. nice.. a STOP!?????

    ReplyDelete
  34. That was a Dude drive by the defense. Now the offense needs to get going.

    ReplyDelete
  35. willis faster than i thought

    ReplyDelete
  36. I've said all year that willis needs more touches. Great run for that kid.

    ReplyDelete
  37. That is why you stick with the run when they stack the box.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thanks for getting Hilliman out there and replacing him with Willis!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Now the defense is pumped. Confounded why Tech is running so much.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I don't think Alston called a fair catch there, announcer man.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I thought he did. He refs clearly disagreed.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Boy, Murphy is elusive.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Do we go for it on 4th down?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Now, Tech is making the mistakes. I'll take that.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Mike Knoll looks terrified in his team picture. Not s good look for a kicker.

    And dammit hilliman, stop dancing.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Ridiculous play call. Way too long to develop.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Missed blocks on that 4th down and a really deep handoff.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Not sure why Tech keeps running.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Should have just sneaked it with Murphy like the last time.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Tech probably wishes they had their timeouts. With us pinned so deep, they could get the ball back with great field position and plenty of time.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Dammit, now Tech will get the ball back with a great chance to go up heading into the locker room. Not capitalizing on that last drive is haunting.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Still have great field position and most likely should get points.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Special teams kills again.

    ReplyDelete
  54. More kick coverage blues. You would think after almost 2 years this would get fixed.

    ReplyDelete
  55. And why is one of their best defensive players on special teams?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Lots of mistakes in this half. Not going to win on the road in the ACC playing like this.

And, shit, now Simmons is hurt. We have no one else that can play corner.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Daniels blew pass coverage again.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Lucky end to the half. Not a great half, but not terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  59. OK, we just played one of the worst 1st halves of the year and we are up by 4. Lots of correctable mistakes. Defense had one bad drive and then played lights out. Offense left a lot of points on the field. If they can step up their play, I think BC can get this critical road win.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I want to see less Hilliman and more Willis in the 3rd quarter.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I'd like to see BC start running a real option, even a triple option. Get both Hilliman and Willis/Alston out there. Maximize your weapons.

    ReplyDelete
  62. BC had 8 negative yardage plays in the first half.

    ReplyDelete
  63. 8 negative yardage plays on 1st down.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Awesome play by Alston!

    Crap, he's hurt.

    ReplyDelete
  65. That was one of the worst non-pass interference calls I've ever seen.

    ReplyDelete
  66. What is up with this terrible play calling on first down?! A jumbo set? Really?!

    ReplyDelete
  67. And more drops. Pathetic.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Wow, if we had a decent passing quarterback, he could obliterate this defense. They are putting 10 guys in the box. The one dimensional offense has cost us 2 games this year. Let's hope it is not a third.

    ReplyDelete
  69. terrible drop. Too many little things in this game.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Quick pass on first down should do the trick.

    ReplyDelete
  71. BC needs to hold an open tryout for kicker or poach a benchwarmer from the soccer team. This is absolutely ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Can we have open tryouts for a place kicker? Please!!!!!!!!!

That kept Tech within 2 scores of tying. Critical, critical mistake.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Nice drive. We should give up on the PAT and go for 2. We have a putrid kicker and a great goal line offense

    ReplyDelete
  74. Touchdown would've been nice, but I am glad we made the kick.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Let's fake the field goal

    ReplyDelete
  76. The big problem here is Va Tech is 2 scores from taking the lead. Our offense needed a TD on that drive.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Offense inside the 10 is way too predictable esp the first down runs up the middle.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I hate complaining about the refs, but they have been terrible today. Not calling it both ways.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Here's where the defense begins it's meltdown.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Dumb by Keyes too.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Keyes, stupid, stupid, stupid penalty!!

    ReplyDelete
  82. That was a clean hit by Kavalec

    ReplyDelete
  83. Stop that jumbo package crap! Hasn't worked once yet today.

    ReplyDelete
  84. So freaking predictable

    ReplyDelete
  85. We need at least 1 more score.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Who has the wind in the 4th?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Huge call by Beamer there. I am so surprised by our ST inconsistency.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Yet another brutal mistake. You know Beamer Ball is going to pull this crap.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Well we know which team is playing to win. Nice fake.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Offense and special teams are killing us today. Can't blame the defense.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Damn you Brown. Third and long and a three man rush. Converted every damn time.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Every game is the same. Send the pressure!

    ReplyDelete
  93. I have a really, really bad feeling about this game.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I can almost guarantee you Brown will trot out the defense he used against CSU and Wake in the 4th. Playing not to lose. Grow a pair and play to win.

    ReplyDelete
  95. The meltdown has started. Only a matter of time with Brown calling the 4th quarter plays.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I don't know why we do this to ourselves. Here we go again. Let's go offense. Time and points here.

    ReplyDelete
  97. One dimensional offense is going to cost us another game.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Look for Day to go even more conservative on offense.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Not scoring a TD on that fumble recovery inside the 10 was brutal. Then again, with all of the stupid mistakes in this game, I am not sure BC deserves to win.

    ReplyDelete
  100. The über conservatism is going BC another game. Can't fault te players for suck crappy 4th quarter play calling on both sides of the football.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Typing on a phone isn't very effective. Youch.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Another jumbo set. Another disaster.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Another negative play on first down.

    ReplyDelete
  104. The BC OLine has not been crisp today.

    ReplyDelete
  105. That was a bad series. Don't mind the play calls but the execution was not good.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Another jumbo set eagle. That's why. Turning this crap off now. They're toast.

    ReplyDelete
  107. First down was a disaster atl. Move away from the jumbo set!

    ReplyDelete
  108. Why don't they block anyone?

How about a screen play since they are being so aggressive?

I hate to say this because I love this staff but they are being out-coached today.

    ReplyDelete
  109. This season is such a shame since we have lost 2 and are on the verge of a 3rd because we present zero passing threat. I really feel if this goes down as a loss, we are looking at 0 for November. This team has to somehow find a way to win this game or the season is toast.

    ReplyDelete
  110. The coordinators esp Brown learn nothing game to game and make the same stupid moves in the 4th quarter.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Another team figures out Brown's blitz by the 4th quarter again.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Not even that eagle. It's 4th quarter meltdowns caused by way too conservative play calling.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Gotta tip your hat to Va Tech. They are being much more aggressive and will win as a result.

    ReplyDelete
  114. How was there no holding on that?

    ReplyDelete
  115. How do they not call holding on that play?

    ReplyDelete
  116. The refs have been blowing a quick whistle all day for VT. Until now.

    ReplyDelete
  117. This is brutal. Need something from somebody. The whole team didn't show up for the 4th quarter.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Thanks coaching staff for blowing another. Wife who knows a nothing about football just asked why that always happens. Even she has more of a damn clue than the coaches.

    ReplyDelete
  119. When you play not to lose you always lose.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Oh well, In August, I thought we would only win 4 this year, so 5 is a bonus.

    ReplyDelete
  121. The wind is with BC, not that it matters.

    ReplyDelete
  122. More jumbo package! Wtf?!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  123. If Bud Foster doesn't adjust to the jumbo something big is coming.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Of course I jinxed us.

    ReplyDelete
  125. That never fucking works. Stop the jumbo!

    ReplyDelete
  126. Wow. I didn't think that had a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Get a damn clue Day

    ReplyDelete
  128. Howell!!!!!

Now it is all on the defense. Tech has plenty of time and all they need is a field goal.

    ReplyDelete
  129. So aggravating. They don't want to win with this play calling.

    ReplyDelete
  130. That was just a matter of time the way they crowded the line all day.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Move away from the jumbo and you get a touchdown. Ha.

    ReplyDelete
  132. brad bates was there to congrat Murphy on the TD... catch that!

way to support the team !

    ReplyDelete
  133. Murphy is clearly hurt. He showed guts on that last run. If he can't run it, we can't just keep running into the line.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Touchdown!!!!!!

Might have just saved the season there.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Defense, make them work. Do not let them score in under a minute.

    ReplyDelete
  136. a sack is needed

    ReplyDelete
  137. The qb ran out of bounds. Why did the clock start? Not complaining, but that seemed strange.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Daniels is absolutely atrocious in pass coverage.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Not over yet, but at least the defense made them work off a lot of clock.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Thank you Tyler Murphy!

    ugly win.

    torture

    and wonderful

    bowl eligible!

    ReplyDelete
  141. That was an ugly onside kick.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Tough, tough road win. Extremely ugly, but now we are bowl eligible.

We are perfect on the road this year!

Every game is gravy from here on out. Absolutely no pressure on this team.

    ReplyDelete
  143. I can finally breath!

    ReplyDelete
  144. Can we beat Louisville? They really played well against Florida State and we barely beat the worst team in the Coastal Division.

I'm traveling to Alumni so I am hoping for a win.

    ReplyDelete
  145. "One dimensional offense is going to cost us another game."

"Thanks coaching staff for blowing another."

    Nice attitude guys.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Thank you Tyler Murphy.

Thank you, crappy on-side kick. (Agree with ATL)

    Go BC - beat Louisville.

    ReplyDelete
  147. You have to hold your nose at the end of the game over the kicking game. A 21 yd punt albeit against the wind is bad. Both d ends were completely undisciplined and did not hold their positions. Time and again, Brewer spun outside past the ends to "live another day". Florida State will absolutely eat the ends alive. The d played well. Bordner blocked well but he can't catch a lick without the gloves. Once again, Murphy saved the day. Contrats to the "surfer".

    ReplyDelete
  148. Let's hope Murphy can heal up this week. Big home test next week, but I think we can beat Louisville.

Any time you leave lane stadium with a win, it's a good win.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Joseph, we barely beat the worst team in the Coastal. That was not a good game by BC. Penalties, mistakes, inability to pass the ball. Failure to convert 3rd downs. The only reason we won is because Va Tech is horrible.

If we have a Crane or a Hasselbeck at qb today, they would have shredded that defense and made them pay for crowding the line.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Also, Joseph, we lost to a mediocre Pitt team and a mid-major in CO State.....at HOME. Why, because we could not pass the ball.

Murphy had to pull out a miracle with his legs to get the win today. Absolutely cannot play like that over the next two games or we will get blown out.

    ReplyDelete
  151. eagleboston - teams load the box against BC because we can't/don't pass. if we had a QB who could pass, and we did pass successfully, they would not stuff 10 in the box. So if Crane were our QB, VT would not have had 10 in the box. Capice.

Jospeh, just enjoy a win with out faulting others. ya know, that whole free to express emotional, temporary opinions on a blog.... Capice

VT is always tough. Bud Foster is always a force to be reckoned with. Happy to win on the road...

    ReplyDelete
  152. yes, good advice BB

    ReplyDelete
  153. " The only reason we won is because Va Tech is horrible."

"Also, Joseph, we lost to a mediocre Pitt team and a mid-major in CO State.....at HOME. Why, because we could not pass the ball."

"ospeh, just enjoy a win with out faulting others. ya know, that whole free to express emotional, temporary opinions on a blog.... Capice"

Yah, I certainly Capice. You folks can dump all over the players and the coaches, but don't want anyone to call you on it. Send your comments to the team with your names and contact info. They won. They were the underdog. They are bowl bound. Two years ago they couldn't buy a win, yet they are not good enough for you. What the hell do you want and expect? What is a 'temporary" opinion? You must be a politician. The team deserves better than the three blind mice you with your hypercritical negativity

    ReplyDelete
  154. Joseph don't worry about eagleboston. He has been saying bad things about murphy all year and how they can't win with him as quaterback. He was even stupid enough to suggest they move him to WR.LOL The funny things is...they keep winning with MURPHY at QB.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Jeremy, don't feed the Troll Joseph.

EagleBoston is an enthusiastic fan who is not necessarily the most consistent commenter....but maybe the most interested fan here. Consistency, of course, is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesman and divines, like Joseph.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Wow I am properly put down. I'll opt for silly negativity and always follow your leads. thanks for showing the true values of BC sports. Never to excel.

    ReplyDelete
  157. I would definitely agree that he is not consistent.
