In-game comments post: Notre Dame

Fenway Park. Notre Dame. This is supposed to be fun. Let's make it a good one and hope that something special happens.

  1. Just saw a Tweet indicating that there is not single BC item in Fenway's souvenir shop - all ND. Makes me even angrier about this stupid "away" game, if that is possible.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Outrageous! BC needs to stop giving money to Fenway Sports Group. My (real, not-cartoonish) Irish is up over that one.

    ReplyDelete
  3. They got us meatballs in the cafeteria.

Funny if it weren't so pitiful.

David Ortiz - this is our effing city!.

BC needs an AD who is from around here.

    ReplyDelete
  4. This isn't a neutral site game. We wouldn't expect the bookstore in south bend to sell any BC gear. Notes Dame was coming to Fenway whether we were there or not. I'd much rather the Eagles be on the field, than seeing UConn or UMASS playing in Boston.

Regardless of that, FSG hasn't done a thing for us and strikes me as one of the last poisonous actions of GDF that we need to exercised.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Fenway Sports Management is a joke. According to their own website, their biggest accomplishment is getting meatballs served at BC:
    http://www.fenwaysportsmanagement.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Meatball-Obsession_BC-Case-Study.pdf

Also note their description of BC:
"BC has won a record five NCAA College championships and sent more than 40 alumni into professional sports leagues."
    http://www.fenwaysportsmanagement.com/portfolio/#bc-athletics

What is this record that we hold? And I'm pretty sure we've sent a heck of a lot more than 40 players into the pros over the years.

  6. Anybody know how I can stream the game if I don't have cable?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Been having a couple before the game and ran into some Notre Dame folk. Ended up them giving me 28 points on a substantial wager. It's all Notre Dame here. It seems like South Bend. Go BC.

    ReplyDelete
  8. This whole scene is an insult. I am with Hoib, we need an AD from around here. Let UMass or Uconn be served up for this propaganda show.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Sorry, I meant BJK...

    ReplyDelete
  10. Oh Jesus. Off to a bad start already.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Not pretty but good result to the first drive. Let's hope the offense answers.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Did Dazzle say M.F. after call?

    ReplyDelete
  13. The game starts with a hand me down to the 35 yard line. ND moves downfield like a hot knife through butter. BC looks inept. Kizer then makes a mistake and Johnson makes a terrific interception. With the interference call which even Flutie says is a good call, you can see Addazio mouth out "m----r f----r)". What kind of coach is this? Even Brian Kelly keeps his cool and never uses m.f.

    ReplyDelete
  14. The breakdown there came from Louie Louie

    ReplyDelete
  15. Can we stop doing these idiotic, slow developing runs?

    ReplyDelete
  16. You know why we're in trouble when 26 is our leading receiver. He shouldn't even be a starter, or on the field at all. I know he plays hard, but that's about it.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The defense looks terrible right now. Can't get any pressure. Can't cover either.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Good for Matt Milano (28). He never quits. He has another special teams tackle. BJK is right about Dudeck. BC is running a junior high offense. Fadule is terrible. Last game, he was 14 yards rushing in 15 attempts. It was just announced that Addazio has been warned about coming on to the field.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Down 3 - 0. Let's start running.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Congratulations to the defense for holding for a field goal. The defense looks good. The double coverage on the third down play in the end zone was fantastic. Stephen Daniels almost created a big break with a fumble. The knee was down as agreed to by Dougie.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Why is 26 even on the field for a kickoff? Addazio is stupid in his loyalty.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It will be hard for them to take that away from us.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I didn't see a depth chart for this game. We need Willis on. This isn't the type of game for Rouse.

Glad to see Addazio used the extra time to expand the playbook.

    Defense!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I like the fake. Right idea.

    ReplyDelete
  25. This coaching staff is absolutely brainless !!!! Down 3pts - punt the ball !!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Down 3 - 0. Let's start running.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Good for Justin Simmons. Then, his great play is followed by four and out and then by an inept fake field goal. Justin Simmons is laying his heart on the field. He ran the fake punt. Can he get any help? Fire the offensive coordinator at half time. Give Don Brown a raise at half time.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Doug Flutie..."Boston College offensive line did not block a single guy on that play. Not one". It all starts with horrible line play.

    ReplyDelete
  29. So here is the deal - Fadule looking for Dudek for a critical third down.

But we tried a trick play.

Bring on Jeff Smith or Troy Flutie Brendan Nosovitch (why wasn't he given any consideration?) - we have no chance with Fadule and never did.

An observant HC would know that.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'll admit that I'm not exactly open casket material, but did BC cherry pick the ugliest students on campus for that commercial?

    ReplyDelete
  31. The defense is doing the right things.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I am really pissed about the mismanagement of our offensive players.

    ReplyDelete
  33. This team is so freaking stupid and undisciplined.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Freaking worthless. Great coaching Daz.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The defense has the heart of a lion. Milano almost makes a great interception. The Johnson roughs the kicker. The Irish then connect on a quick pass. The defense is already wearing down.

    ReplyDelete
  36. We do not have GREAT offensive talent , but please do not run Rouse on 1st and 2nd down again !!!! PLEASE .How about the big back - Richard Wilson if u intend to run up the middle on 1st down - 225 LBS!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. No problem. We can come back from 10 to 0 behind Fadule and Dudek.

    Willis
    Robinson
    Thadd Smith
    Wilson
    Callinan
    Alston
    Jackson
    Outlow

    ReplyDelete
  38. Earth to Daz. These Rouse runs up the middle have been stuffed every time.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Wow - kicking game. I can't take it.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Now let's open the offense. The run isn't working and we need points.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Belly right, belly left. belly middle, punt for 30 yards.

Let's see how close we are to this.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Another Rouse run on 1st down and I go to bed !!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Doug is laughing at the blocking scheme of this offensive line. Get a hat on a hat - simple. 75 needs 60 more pounds.

Will Don Brown stay with this insanity?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Another run, run, sack. Seriously stupid play calling. Notre Dame is going to send the house on 3rd and long every time. BC can't run twice up the middle to get put in these positions.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I want Fitch fired tonight in Kenmore Square.

    ReplyDelete
  46. At what point does Addazio try something different on O?

    ReplyDelete
  47. The answer is never because he is a complete moron.

    ReplyDelete
  48. With this injury break we can discuss this putrid effort on offense. The coaching is the worst I have ever seen in all of my years at BC - including the disgracefull Gary Tranquil.

This should lead to some firings. Immediately.

Bring in some coaches out of the grandstands - they'd do a better job.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Why? Why is Alston still fielding punts? Addazio just does not learn or adjust.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Well this game is over. Another dumb dumb mistake.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Sherman Alston has dropped six balls this year - "I can hear my nephew screaming in my ear."

Only Addazio would put a guy back there who has dropped 6 balls. now seven, four turnovers.

I think the guy is over his head.

Defense - Addazio you do not deserve this.

    ReplyDelete
  52. GeecDaz. Alston muffs

We all expected that for awhile

    ReplyDelete
  53. Missed face mask on that fumble return. Defense giving up a ton of yards but making big plays.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Congrats D for not quiting, and is anyone else concerned that the offense or O-line has not gotten any better all year. I think we would see some progress at this point but it looks like week 1. As for special teams I am thinking Addazio hasn't figured out it is actually a part of the game

    ReplyDelete
  55. Why can't anyone catch passes?!?!?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Thadd! Thadd! Thadd! ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I don't like punting there. We need points.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Another majestic punt by Howell. Is that his third terrible punt this game now?

    ReplyDelete
  59. They should be fired because 26 has never gotten to the first down marker.

Again - why is he on the field? Addazio and Fitch are idiots.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Dudek. Short of sticks!!! (lol BJK. How many times that happen)

    ReplyDelete
  61. We need to keep with the passing game. At some point, a receiver is going to hang on to the ball and we will have a big gain.

And we absolutely must put someone else fielding punts. I really like that Walker kid.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Howell must have some injury

    ReplyDelete
  63. Addazio's temper is ridiculous he can't control his emotions from play to play and it effects everything.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Addazio's temper is ridiculous he can't control his emotions from play to play and it effects everything.

    ReplyDelete
  65. ND QB saw the blitz on the left so he ran to the right for 12 yards. Kizer is smart.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Alston looked inept. Milano picked up the team with Strahan. Then, Smith drops a perfect 40 yard pass. Is this a junior high offense or what?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Offensive line should be Bowen, Cashman Taylor, Baker, Williams.

    Where is Cashman?

I have no idea why Lindstrom is in there at 260 lbs.

The scheme is too much for these guys - but the coaches haven't figured that out.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Fadule to 26 - no good. No shit!

    ReplyDelete
  69. You can't make this up.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Despite results. O seems improved

    ReplyDelete
  71. Nice pressure from Daniels which leads to an interception by Simmons. Then, the offense continues its ineptness. Is this a pattern or what?

    ReplyDelete
  72. Daz is playing to just cover the spread it looks like. Not playing to win at all. Bad third down play. Bad decision to punt. Bad clock management not using a TO there. Bad bad everything.

    ReplyDelete
  73. He talks about how young and injured his team is and how that is the problem this year but he sure doesn't coach like it is a young inexperienced team

    ReplyDelete
  74. He talks about how young and injured his team is and how that is the problem this year but he sure doesn't coach like it is a young inexperienced team

    ReplyDelete
  75. Big Jack Krack - ur comments are on the money - Dudeck should not be out there !!!! Callinan should be a major target. Your comment on Lindstrom is also appropriate - a True Freshman @ only 260 lbs playing over others.Don Brown is a very very good coach , but it is obvious that Fitch and Addazio are inept . They play action fake and throw to Sweeney over the middle - DAH - IT WORKED -and on 1st down.If BC had an OC , they may have won several games . FITCH NEEDS TO BE FIRED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last comment - will DON BROWN STAY AT BOSTON COLLEGE - I THINK HE WILL GET FRUSTRATED AND LEAVE even though he is 60 years old.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Hines Ward "don't run, run, pass"

    ReplyDelete
  77. Hines Ward "don't run, run, pass"

    ReplyDelete
  78. Another run, run for nothing after the huge return. Way to kill that momentum.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Another classic Addazio timeout in the 3rd quarter. If this is by some miracle close in the 4th,Addazio just put them in the hole to put together a game winning drive.

    ReplyDelete
  80. They can't catch

    ReplyDelete
  81. and there Addazio goes to avoid the shutout.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Who would want to play for this guy. His body language on the sideline is ridiculous and he's always blaming the kids. How about changing the play calling?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Maybe that's why Callinan isn't out there more. Brutal drop. Miraculous fg though.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I want Fitch fired yesterday. We gained 2 yards after the 60 yard return. Should have had a touchdown.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Let's give credit where credit is due. The snap on the fg was terrible. It was Howell who rescued it and set it down. A 67 yard return by Walker and the offense can then gain about one yard. Fitch has to go.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Defense bails them out again. However, if the offense can't move the ball, they will be forced to defend a very short field on the next possession. It's really too bad that we have wasted a great defense on such a horrific offense. Total shame.

    ReplyDelete
  87. A new way to win

Anyone think ND is. Still a playoff team

We are knocking them out !!

    ReplyDelete
  88. How many times can the defense take a bow? Hooray for Gutappel deflecting the ball to Simmons.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Hey defense awesome play hi five, hi five now don't go far because it is run, run, pass time

    ReplyDelete
  90. Don't want shankoponmus punting

    ReplyDelete
  91. JBQ, so true. When I saw that snap, I thought for sure the kick was done, but Howell did an absolutely amazing job getting it in position for a kick.

    ReplyDelete
  92. We have been calling for Wilson.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I don't mind the change to Smith but I am a Smith fan.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Terrible second down call to smith. Throw the ball downfield. Fitch is an idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Disaster. Complete disaster.

    ReplyDelete
  96. If ND scores here, the game is effectively over. BC has not scored more than 14 points since October 17th. PLus, Addazio already burned a critical timeout.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Thought Johnson had it. Too bad.

    ReplyDelete
  98. It's a game of inches. They were a split second late getting to Kizer and he burned them to Fuller. ND is just too quick and too strong for BC.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Hey defense awesome play hi five, hi five now don't go far because it is run, run, pass time

    ReplyDelete
  100. This is infuriating. Why is Smith still in the game?

    ReplyDelete
  101. You are down by 2 scores and you are doing dives up the middle?

    ReplyDelete
  102. Another reason to fire Fitch. 11th game of the season and you call an illegal formation. Fitch should know the rules by now.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Illegal Formation call? Wow!

26 finally caught one beyond the first down marker. Too bad.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Anyone still think the Daz was the right choice? How much do you need to see of this junior high offense and his sophomoric antics before you realize his contract extension has doomed BC for years.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Run up middle. Penalty. Run up middle. 3rd and long. This is my nightmare

    ReplyDelete
  106. Look for Irish to run it up in quarter 4. Watch the clown on the sideline and ask yourself would you send your child to play for him?

    ReplyDelete
  107. So many stupid penalties. All on the coaches.

    ReplyDelete
  108. One thing to be emotional another to cost your team. I am embarrassed for him.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Addazio is burning through all his goodwill tonight. I hate the unsportsman like penalty.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Nice going coach.

We need to hold them here, because the defensive effort has been so good. These guys are playing their hearts out.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Totally agree. Are the penalties on coaches due to their "youth"?

    ReplyDelete
  112. Defense has been on the field too long. They are tired.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I don't know why I torture myself by watching this. They have not scored more than 14 points since the Clemson game and they would need to score 20 to win this. The chance of that happening is about 5%. And yet I still watch. Why?

    ReplyDelete
  114. Might as well bring in Flutie - go for the hat trick!

    ReplyDelete
  115. That is what Jeff Smith does that the other QBs don't.

    ReplyDelete
  116. We watch because we are die hard fans.

And that's why Smith is in there.

    ReplyDelete
  117. And a delay of game penalty. What a joke.

    ReplyDelete
  118. No no no. Take the extra point! Good lord. Especially after the penalty.

    ReplyDelete
  119. You get a delay penalty because you don't know what play you are calling on a 2 point conversion? Every time I think I've seen it all in terms of offensive coaching ineptitude, the Daz proves me wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Delay of game on a2 pt conversion. Go yell at the refs

    ReplyDelete
  121. Another run up the middle!

    ReplyDelete
  122. Good time to kick the extra point.

But it didn't surprise me at all that there was a snafu on the 2 point conversion.

Show me the past performance - isn't that what they say at the race track?

    Sure applies here.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Down two scores 7 minutes left in the game, and you run on 1st and second down?

    ReplyDelete
  124. Hello....you are down by 10 with less than 7 minutes left. Why are you running?

    ReplyDelete
  125. 7 1/2 minutes left, Smith is still left in the game. And they run twice?! Are you freaking kidding me?

    ReplyDelete
  126. We need a fumble. Why not?

    ReplyDelete
  127. I don't get the play calling there.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Being bad is one thing, being bad and incredibly boring is an offensive football sin.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Down 10 points, 7 1/2 minutes - let's run a couple of belly series, eh Fitch.

You ought to be horrified when you look in the mirror, because you are a horror show.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Play action fake and then a pass over the middle to SWEENEY worked way back when - BUT NOW AGAIN TWO RUNS UP THE MIDDLE - Fire FITCH NOW PLEASE and give a warning to ADDAZIO !!!!

    ReplyDelete
  131. That's gotta be all Daz. No one outside of him can be that freaking stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Daz is fully satisfied already with a close game

    ReplyDelete
  133. Let's catch this punt and maybe run some.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Daz playing now just to cover. Spread 16.5 I think.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I would love to see a play fake and a deep pass to start the drive.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Not for nothing ND just not look like the #4 team in the country. Think Bama beats then by 30

    ReplyDelete
  137. If we can run out the clock for a couple of minutes - that's good. Maybe get a first down or two, and run some clock, eh?

    ReplyDelete
  138. I hope some Committee members vote them out of the Top Four, but their PR Machine is really something.

    ReplyDelete
  139. We've been called for a lot of chop blocks. They must be coaching that.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Burning some clock here.

    ReplyDelete
  141. We are wasting too much time.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Flutie was shocked they took out Fadule. He was clearly concussed. Good move by the coaches to get him out.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Great pass and catch on the TD to Callinan.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Could use that wasted timeout from before.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Not sure why BC does not always open up the offense. When they pass the ball, they score.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Could have used that 2 point conversion earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  147. That was so bad. Need to get a bounce not that dribble nonsense.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Why kick the ball directly at someone.

    ReplyDelete
  149. I hope Stanford just crushes these clowns next week.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Really, I have been saying all along, if you screw up the play early, take the 5 yard penalty. Do not burn the timeout.

    ReplyDelete
  151. What is this, the 5th game where not having 3 timeouts at the end has cost BC? When is Addazio going to learn you cannot blow timeouts in the 2nd half? When?

    ReplyDelete
  152. For Daz a moral victory. Ala the Soaz Error.

    Sucked

    ReplyDelete
  153. Hats off to the defense. They held Notre Dame to their lowest point total all season. Great, great effort by this unit.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Great effort by BC Defense - and offense, once they opened it up.

Fitch - there's nothing I can say, except you stink.

I thought if we held them under 24 points, we had a chance.

One roughing the kicker, one burned timeout, one missed 2 point opportunity.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda - sounds like my golf game! :-)

Hey BC players - I am very proud of you and thank you for playing so hard and not quitting.

And thatnk you for exposing the Notre Dame Ramblers.

    ReplyDelete
  155. At least it was a joy to see some real Boston College uniforms; i.e., with the real "block" BC interlocked logo--not that slanted abomination they came up with about 20 years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Lenny - I had forgotten how much I loved the helmets w/o the stripe, and the gold pants with the stripe.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Down two scores 7 minutes left in the game, and you run on 1st and second down?

    ReplyDelete
  158. The play selection has been a source of irritation for sure. Fitch needs to go, and Addazio needs to step away from the offense completely.

    ReplyDelete
  159. @Lenny: I add another voice on your comment about the great uniforms. If they were good enough for the Flute man, then they are good enough for BC.
