Let's go, BC - beat Maryland. You can do it, in spite of your head coach's ultra conservative offensive play philosophy.
We are 12 and 9 during my experience with Bowl games, losing the last 5 after winning 8 in a row. We are streaky, to say the least.
Since Spazadufus took over for the fired Jagodzinski for the Music City Bowl in 2008 (9 and 4 BC losing to 6 and 6 Vanderbilt, a team that hadn't been to a bowl in many years)we have averaged under 18 points a game in 5 loses. Our 30 points against Penn State was an anomaly.
We have reason to believe that nothing will change today. As Phil Steele said BC wants this game in a phone booth, keep it close and (try to)win it late.
We lost our first game in Dublin 17 to 14 and we won our last game in Winston Salem 17 to 14. That might well be the score today as well. That's our average in Bowl games since DeFildicko ruined the program. As Mod would say - DeFilippo - one L for Loser and two Ps for Piss Poor.
First play of the game for BC - #32 up the middle. How will Maryland possibly prepare for that? :-)
And so, Go BC Players - you are capable of beating Maryland and we know you are and we are rooting for you. Let's get the job done today. We'll take 17 to 14 and we'll be very happy with it. But we know you are capable of scoring 35 points today, excepting that you have one hand tied behind your backs.
MD missed a long TD already. On that missed crossing. They missed an INT. They missed another big gain on a similar crossing pattern. I do believe we finally found another P5 team with inferior talent.
Chronically under-used Myles Willis. Proud of the Marist kid! Coach Chadwick must be proud. Probably only got hit 800 times on Friday nights with that triple option.
What surprised me was the way the announcers praised our defense in the pregame analysis. Did they watch the blow-outs by every quality team we played?
Take announcer's comments with a grain of salt. They are mouth pieces for coaches in these games. Same goof ball said things are looking up at BC, that BC has a stud freshman QB waiting in wings, and that their recruiting is going great.
Well, we have all seen this story before. BC has momentum and then completely gives it away. Why do we put ourselves through this misery time and time again?
I could see that coming a mile away. First, they need to start running routes beyond the first down marker. 2nd, don't kick a field goal in that situation. It was barely in Knoll's range. 3rd, stop with these 2 yards and a cloud of dust runs to Hilliman. Run Willis.
Towles hasn't really had a chance this half. Conservative play calling will put you in a ton of third and longs. That's the reason Maryland has 4 sacks this half. BC has become hilariously bad at this point now.
Dumb Addazio. He just does not get game situations. You decline the holding and make them attempt a field goal. Now, they are going to score a TD. Such a flipping idiot.
I won't fault him for taking the second hold. Odds were pretty minuscule they'd get a td or convert a first down. Taking the penalty out then out of fg range for the most part. Still up 2 possessions. Yeah
BC will run it up the middle 3 times here. Maryland will get the ball back with around 2 mins left. BC will then go into a prevent defense and will lose.
If we recove the on side kick, we can take a knee; time out MD; take a knee: time out MD; take a knee, let the clock run down to 1:30 seconds; punt and hold on.
Hope they win but understand who they are playing. Maryland lost to both Ohio State and Michigan by more than 55 points. Much like BC getting crushed by all the good teams they played
Agree with 6:18 post. But if one maintains hope, gotta crawl first. This is an avg team. Good defense in spurts. Bad in others. Daz has one yr left. This changed nothing. Except why Willis didn't play more. The coaches suck.
I am anxious to see our offensive stats for the second half.
Congratulations players for winning - thank you.
I'm glad we won, of course - but I am very unhappy with sitting on the lead for the entire second half. That's what it seemed like. Especially the 4th quarter.
Let's go, BC - beat Maryland. You can do it, in spite of your head coach's ultra conservative offensive play philosophy.

In contrast, we averaged 30+ points in our 8 straight victories.
ReplyDeleteDuh!
Maryland's helmets are an embarrassment.
ReplyDeleteBC playing tempo and of course screw up the formation.
ReplyDeleteCallinan has to grab that.
ReplyDeleteHow do you drop that?
ReplyDelete83 - step it up or take a seat.
ReplyDeleteNever need an excuse for day drinking. But watching Callinan try to catch the oblong orb speeds the consumption rate.
ReplyDeleteNice defensive series for BC.
ReplyDeleteLet's try Borgersen, Glines, Thaddeus Smith, someone who might catch a pass from the WR position.
ReplyDeleteMultiple assistants are signaling plays and all wearing different neon shirts. New way to get plays in.
ReplyDeleteSubterfuge is critical with this dynamic offense.
ReplyDeleteThat was a really nice drive. Tempo and OLine really made the difference.
ReplyDeleteOL looks a lot better so far.
ReplyDeleteJUST IN: sources close to Daz say he is being considered for UCONN opening. Says it's his "dream job."
ReplyDeleteTC for AD & HC in 2017
#32 looks like his old self.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see the special teams unit clicking after a month of rest.
ReplyDeleteMissing the PAT is frustrating.
ReplyDeleteConsider that the missing 49th point later on. Mercy miss.
ReplyDeleteHopefully that block won't come back to haunt us. The guy was almost unblocked coming in.
ReplyDeleteWe look pretty good so far, with some breaks by MD miscues.
ReplyDeleteGo BC.
We look like Oregon without the talent or production.
ReplyDeleteThat was an ugly BC drive.
ReplyDeleteDidn't take advantage of field position there. We have to score.
ReplyDeleteMike Mamula time!
ReplyDeleteThe refs are quick with the whistle.
ReplyDeleteOK - let's pick up the defense, BC and use what they have given us.
ReplyDeleteSomebody played the 1994 Aloha Bowl game in bowl prep meetings.
ReplyDeleteCalled a T.O. for that?
ReplyDeleteJUST IN: Maryland appears to be as good at playing football as Daz is coaching it.
ReplyDeleteI bet Tommy Sweeney's favorite movie is The Departed.
ReplyDeleteTowles should run more. He's agile for a big fella.
ReplyDeleteLove to see a score here.
ReplyDeleteMD missed a long TD already. On that missed crossing. They missed an INT. They missed another big gain on a similar crossing pattern. I do believe we finally found another P5 team with inferior talent.
ReplyDeleteA TD not FG.
ReplyDeleteThat was another great drive.
ReplyDeleteMD didn't study film. :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat play, BC.
CT - I agree that MD has made some big mistakes so far. Let's hope they keep it up. :-)
ReplyDeleteLet's get another TD here and not settle for a FG.
ReplyDeleteMD is bound to wake up at some point, no?
2nd string TE would be a good option out of the TO.
ReplyDeleteI think that long snap was the highlight of our season.
ReplyDelete7 would have been nice there. Let's go Defense.
ReplyDeleteTheir Center MVP'd that play
ReplyDeleteDamn that Maryland RB smoked the BC defense.
ReplyDeleteEven when we play well, we give up big plays.
ReplyDeleteLet's get a first down here, punt, flip the field, put our best unit back out there to win this game. 16 is more than they have a right to ask for.
ReplyDeleteLet's answer here. Otherwise we lose all momentum.
ReplyDeleteI think we can score on these guys, as long as we don't shoot ourselves in the foot.
With out type of offense, we can't afford to make any mistakes.
Wow that was a nice play with good execution. Shocking!
ReplyDeleteCollege football - check it out.
ReplyDeleteThat was fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat answer. Now let's get back to shutting them down.
ReplyDeleteOK Defense, shut these guys down on this drive.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations BC, for deciding to play college football by mixing it up.
We have talent - let's keep using it!!!!
Go Scot Loeffler - break out of the phone booth mentality.
Chronically under-used Myles Willis. Proud of the Marist kid! Coach Chadwick must be proud. Probably only got hit 800 times on Friday nights with that triple option.
ReplyDeleteBC needs to get better on kick-off coverage.
ReplyDeleteLet's get a stop or turnover.
ReplyDeleteHarold Landry just got owned on that TD run.
ReplyDeleteSmoked the defense again. Yeesh.
ReplyDeleteWow. We will have to keep scoring.
ReplyDeleteJohnson may single-handedly win this game for Maryland. BC defense better wake up.
ReplyDeleteWhat surprised me was the way the announcers praised our defense in the pregame analysis. Did they watch the blow-outs by every quality team we played?
ReplyDeleteOh boy - here we go. Let's hope I'm wrong.
ReplyDeleteThese guys need to regroup.
ReplyDeleteMD is saying Landry won't beat us today. So far, so good.
ReplyDeleteTake announcer's comments with a grain of salt. They are mouth pieces for coaches in these games. Same goof ball said things are looking up at BC, that BC has a stud freshman QB waiting in wings, and that their recruiting is going great.
ReplyDeleteThat was holding.
ReplyDeleteHa. Their QB. Hilarious.
ReplyDeleteGreat interception.
ReplyDeleteCome on - take advantage.
ReplyDeletetoo long for a field goal and a punt does not gain you much.
ReplyDeleteNo WRs and no QB=bad combo.
ReplyDeleteTurned it over on downs and stopped the clock for MD. Wow.
ReplyDeleteI like playing to win, but let's not be stupid.
Kinda sad a 48ydr is out of range.
ReplyDeleteLooked like a catch
ReplyDeleteWhat idiot runs in front of the punt returner? Special teams needs to get things cleaned up.
ReplyDeleteIs Daz coaching ST too?
ReplyDeleteSome scary moments in the last five minutes.
ReplyDeleteHa, cool that McClarey's dad co-wrote Brick House.
ReplyDeleteNice toss
ReplyDeleteThat's too funny. Great play calling.
ReplyDeleteDaz decided to let his guys play.
See Addazio, when you attack, attack, attack, great things happen. Loved that he did not take a knee there.
ReplyDeleteNice pass and catch. Towles has been pretty sharp throwing today.
ReplyDeleteOh Jesus. We're back to this crap again.
ReplyDeleteI hope those 2 points don't come back to haunt us.
ReplyDeleteST sucks
ReplyDeleteFor the love of God, let's get a kicker for next year!
ReplyDeleteBlow it up!
ReplyDeleteRead option inside the 10? MD cheerleader coach!
ReplyDeleteFantastic defense and turnover and TD. Merritt has made some big plays today.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure who recovered that, but it looked like Finance Kavalec.
Go BC.
This has been a pretty fun game!
ReplyDeleteHarris looked like he pulled a muscle.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile #55 is holding Landry on the play - it was blatant.
ReplyDeleteLord. This pass def is less than good. Man to man up 23?
ReplyDeleteTheir qb is not good. Make him use a 2nd or 3rd option.
ReplyDeleteWe'll have to keep scoring for sure.
ReplyDeleteMaryland hasn't done much - except for 3 big plays.
We have to prevent these big plays somehow.
Here it comes.
ReplyDeleteI hope that's not an indication that Addazio has gone to the RRPP already.
ReplyDeleteNow momentum has swung to the Terps. Need to stop them now.
ReplyDeleteNow that was the Daz we know and dislike. Why ask an unathletic oline to block on roll-outs?
ReplyDeleteThis is un-fricken-believable. Turn around to the ball!!
ReplyDeleteThis pass defense is awful.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell is the secondary doing? Where's the pressure on the QB?
ReplyDeleteWow. Play some zone or something.
ReplyDeleteHow can our DBs be do embarrassingly inept. It's like they are paralyzed.
ReplyDeleteWell, we have all seen this story before. BC has momentum and then completely gives it away. Why do we put ourselves through this misery time and time again?
ReplyDeleteI think #55 is holding Landry. But we have to get some pressure on their QB for sure.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Landry is not quite ready to go pro if they can hold him off like that.
Hilliman finds holes like Geraldo Rivera finds treasure.
ReplyDeleteI know this is a meaningless game, but BC has not won a bowl game since 2007 and it would be nice to end the year with a win.
ReplyDeleteThis is a critical drive. Need to stop them.
ReplyDeleteThat penalty on Lowery killed momentum and the drive.
ReplyDeleteI am getting worried.
ReplyDeleteunreal - was that false start on Lowery again?
ReplyDeleteThat's 2 today, which is about his average.
ReplyDeleteblatant holding on Landry.
ReplyDeleteBC definitely playing not to lose on both sides this half. Great coaching Daz.
ReplyDeletebig stop needed here.
ReplyDeleteOkay, let's play to win.
ReplyDeleteDazoshit has gone conservative. Look familiar? What a horrible coach.
ReplyDeleteMaryland is lining up 10 in the box. Time for some play-action. Please, Daz, do not turtle-up yet again.
ReplyDeleteThat would be refreshing.
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't Willis get more carries?
ReplyDeleteThe kicker is going to blow this game for BC. Just like the kicker did 2 years ago. For shame.
ReplyDeletebad snap? how can we be so bad on place kicking?
ReplyDeleteMissed field goal. Deja-vu.
ReplyDeleteI could see that coming a mile away. First, they need to start running routes beyond the first down marker. 2nd, don't kick a field goal in that situation. It was barely in Knoll's range. 3rd, stop with these 2 yards and a cloud of dust runs to Hilliman. Run Willis.
ReplyDeleteI agree about Willis too. Get him the ball.
ReplyDeleteCome on, guys.
What the flying f was that? Nice tackling jokes.
ReplyDeleteLandry was completely held on that big run.
ReplyDeleteI was predicting a 44-29 loss at half. Might not be too far off.
ReplyDeleteOur defense looks like a Chinese fire drill.
ReplyDeleteThis is getting scary.
ReplyDeleteThey got so lucky.
ReplyDeletegood stop and good call and good luck on the bad snap.
ReplyDeleteLet's make good on this.
The O-line is getting a little lazy on the blocking. C'mon guys, you have all offseason to rest.
ReplyDeletePass it to Sweeney
ReplyDeleteTowles has looked bad in the second half.
ReplyDeleteWow.
ReplyDeleteThe o-lineman needs to hit that defender as he is going in the air. He just stood there looking at him. Lazy!
ReplyDeleteTowles hasn't really had a chance this half. Conservative play calling will put you in a ton of third and longs. That's the reason Maryland has 4 sacks this half. BC has become hilariously bad at this point now.
ReplyDeletePlease hold them to a FG here or a turnover.
ReplyDeleteInteresting call here. Taking the hold will back them up, but do you want to give them another shot?
ReplyDeleteFinally - they called a hold on Landry.
ReplyDeleteGreat job 2
ReplyDeleteWhat a freaking stupid penalty.
ReplyDeleteThat was almost a good play. Oh boy.
ReplyDeleteI think BC should have declined that holding penalty. Too many bad things can happen when you give a team another shot.
ReplyDeleteMore piss poor tackling.
ReplyDeleteWe've got our 2nd best unit on the field to win the game.
ReplyDeleteDumb Addazio. He just does not get game situations. You decline the holding and make them attempt a field goal. Now, they are going to score a TD. Such a flipping idiot.
ReplyDeleteMakes sense, Eagleboston.
ReplyDeleteOh boy - this is being set up for a 1 point loss due to missed XPs and FG.
Disagree. 3rd and forever. He didn't facemask.
ReplyDeleteI won't fault him for taking the second hold. Odds were pretty minuscule they'd get a td or convert a first down. Taking the penalty out then out of fg range for the most part. Still up 2 possessions. Yeah
ReplyDeleteScratch that, I'm glad they took the penalty :)
ReplyDeleteNow the BC offense must get a couple first downs.
Please don't do anything dumb here.
ReplyDeleteMD did it. Gotta believe in incompetence!
ReplyDeleteI revert to my 5:47 post. :-)
ReplyDeleteBravesbill, remember the Georgia Tech game? You can never go with odds with a BC football team. Tech converted a 4th and 18.
ReplyDeleteIt seems the best offense for BC is to leave the defense on the field to kill the clock.
ReplyDeleteGood call Big Jack.
ReplyDeleteOffense has been non-existent this half. The BC D has got to be getting tired. BC needs to get a first down to help them out.
This is going to be the longest 3:19 of the season.
ReplyDeleteRun it. Make them burn a TO. Kick it.
ReplyDeleteWe have been held in check the entire second half - thank goodness for that fumble recovery in the endzone.
ReplyDeleteHow many first downs do we have this half?
This is utterly laughable.
ReplyDeleteHis insistence to play Hilliman over Willis is insane.
ReplyDeleteYou can't make this sh^@ up.
ReplyDeleteHilliman just cost himself money. Ha!
ReplyDeleteAddazio is playing right into their hands.
ReplyDeleteLiterally the worst football ever.
ReplyDeleteHow this dipshit can keep his job after this second half disaster is beyond belief.
ReplyDeleteThis is what you get when you have a coach playing not to lose vs. playing to win.......
ReplyDeleteRun up the gut.
ReplyDeleteRun up the gut.
Run up the gut. Fumble.
Genius.
Maryland knew that it would be #32 up the middle 3 times. That's Addazio's history, especially in the 4th quarter with a slight lead.
ReplyDeleteThis is Div 2 ball
ReplyDelete3rd throw won't fail.
ReplyDeleteReally surprised Ty Johnson did not get a touch. That makes zero sense.
ReplyDeleteBC will run it up the middle 3 times here. Maryland will get the ball back with around 2 mins left. BC will then go into a prevent defense and will lose.
ReplyDeleteNow the extra points become huge.
ReplyDeleteOh the missed kicks are going to haunt us
ReplyDeleteStory of the Daz era.
DeleteOkay - bring on the "Hands" Team.
ReplyDeleteIf we recove the on side kick, we can take a knee; time out MD; take a knee: time out MD; take a knee, let the clock run down to 1:30 seconds; punt and hold on.
Daz-Ball. Catch the excitement.
Daz is Latin for imagination
ReplyDeleteOne first down ends it. Dazeroo?
ReplyDeleteThey need to pass for the first down. Can't let them get the ball back as a TD wins it for Maryland.
ReplyDeleteOne first down would win this game, but here comes #32 up the middle.
ReplyDeleteThere's the three runs up the middle. Maryland will get the ball with about 1:50 left.
ReplyDeleteHoly shit. A boot?
ReplyDeleteWhy does Addazio think this will work? It has not worked all season. I fricken hate tis clown head.
ReplyDeleteA run pass option would have worked better than another run up the middle.
ReplyDeleteWow. That is AMAZING! With those TOs and sacks...
ReplyDeleteAddazio really sucks. Excuse my language.
ReplyDeleteBravesbill was correct about the time. I was off by 30 seconds.
If Maryland scores to win the game, Addazio should be fired before he arrives back in Boston.
Take the CT job, Addazio. Go home.
Watch the deep ball down the seam. He's tried it 4 times
ReplyDeleteEven with talent, Daz wouldn't know what to do. He is Les Miles Light.
ReplyDeleteturtled georgia tech; turtled maryland. bookend season
ReplyDeleteHope they win but understand who they are playing. Maryland lost to both Ohio State and Michigan by more than 55 points. Much like BC getting crushed by all the good teams they played
ReplyDeleteAddazio is a genius.
ReplyDeleteLandry was held all night.
Defense bails BC out. Offense only scored 7 points all half. How many first downs did they get?
ReplyDeleteFirst bowl win in nearly a decade!
ReplyDeleteCorrection EB. The offense scored 0 points in the second half. That was a defensive td.
ReplyDeleteAgree with 6:18 post. But if one maintains hope, gotta crawl first. This is an avg team. Good defense in spurts. Bad in others. Daz has one yr left. This changed nothing. Except why Willis didn't play more. The coaches suck.
ReplyDeleteI am anxious to see our offensive stats for the second half.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations players for winning - thank you.
I'm glad we won, of course - but I am very unhappy with sitting on the lead for the entire second half. That's what it seemed like. Especially the 4th quarter.
Thank you, seniors.
Willis doesn't play more why?
ReplyDeleteThe coaches are not D1 ready.
Towles should've run more. Hilliman less. Smith more. Callinan is not good. It's scary that our wr position is so bad.
