In-game comments post: Pinstripe Bowl

It is the last game of the year and a chance for Addazio to get to eight wins. The weather is freezing. The opponent is old school and we are playing in Yankee Stadium. Let's do this!

  1. Next to BC, Iowa is the team I have viewed the most. I wish I were in a sports bar in Des Moines proudly wearing the BC colors, but I am visiting family in North Carolina.

Iowa is eerily similar to BC. They recruit 2 and 3 stars, coach them up and put more players than they should into the NFL.

BC’s Dillon gets all of the press, but Akrum Woolley is a very dangerous back. I’m a little concerned about BC’s depleted defense.

Stanley is a big, imposing QB. you cannot just rush 4 against him. You need to blitz.

The Iowa linebackers are exceptional. BC is going to have to be more balanced to keep them off balance.

Iowa, like BC, will slip tight ends put for passes. BC needs to be aware of this.

Will Yankee Stadium turn to the west and wave to the kids at Iowa Children’s Hospital at the end of the 1st quarter? That wold be a cool recognition of the best new tradition in college football.

Go Eagles! Eagles are tougher than hawks.

  2. Like I said earlier. Less than two picks and we win.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Good stop. Bad QB. But still. Good stop.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Holding them to a field goal was huge there.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Good return as consistently by Walker. He has been a bright spot all year. Let's see if Wade can overcome his mistake.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Nice pass. Need that to loosen up for Dillon

    ReplyDelete
  7. Why aren’t the Eagles wearing cleats?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Nice little drive. Good punt. Field sucks. Northern bowls are dumb.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I was just going to ask the same, it looks like our skill position players have no cleats or turf shoes. They are slipping all over the place

    ReplyDelete
  10. Kurt Frenez in a hoodie in 17 degrees is 2017 example of Bowie Kuhn in the World Series

    Look it up kids

    ReplyDelete
  11. Lady on tv saying BC is trying various shoes. Hope the find the right ones.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Did Daz just burn Lewis’ redshirt ? I don’t remember him playing earlier.... could be the best #11 receiver since Bucky Godbolt

    ReplyDelete
  13. Dillons unbelievable!

    ReplyDelete
  14. BC is winning the line of scrimmage. Great drive!!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Stop their run we'll be ok.

    ReplyDelete
  16. They got a back too!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Woodley is dangerous. You have to stop him or BC will lose.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Wadley. Damn spell check

    ReplyDelete
  19. Booger is right, keep that flag in your pocket

    Big 10 crew?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Referees are what we pay to see, right?

    Like watching the Falcons-Saints game.

    Absurd.

    ReplyDelete
  21. They’re 3 point favorites. Hmm!

    ReplyDelete
  22. They did the wave. Love it!

    ReplyDelete
  23. solid blocking on that smith run

    ReplyDelete
  24. Did Dillon get hurt?

    ReplyDelete
  25. The slipping just makes it dumb.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Wow! BC doesn’t do that! Go Eagles 🦅

    ReplyDelete
  27. Finally a bounce going our way.

We are definitely the better team on both sides of the ball. Let’s just hope the field conditions and refs do not become bigger factors in this game. Then it may require Daz to perform some strategery....and we know how that usually goes.....

    ReplyDelete
  28. contributions from lots of guys

    ReplyDelete
  29. These announcers are brilliant

    ReplyDelete
  30. Our B defense is better than their A offense.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Touched a Hawkeye and another guy touched it from end zone as I saw it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Looks good; keep your feet; great run

    ReplyDelete
  33. Just learned a good BC fried’s wife has Parkinson’s disease. Prayers

    ReplyDelete
  34. Their O-line is about as good as Booger McFarland is as a booth analyst.

    ReplyDelete
  35. God bless her ‘66

    ReplyDelete
  36. We usually miss into that endzone.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Why no time out pre kick. ?

Stupid - kid needs not rush

    ReplyDelete
  38. BC seems to be slipping more than Iowa.

    Wrong cleats/shoes??

    ReplyDelete
  39. Dominating but we are only up by 7. I said this would come down to a field goal. Hope it is not that miss by Lichtenberg that decides the game.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Answer: Daz is a natural meat head

    ReplyDelete
  41. Why the rush? Evens SA was confused.. Special team coach has to do better.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Their 10 points were a gift. Let that D continue to dominate their O line. Give Dillon the rock.

    ReplyDelete
  43. What are the linemen wearing?
Maybe they should put on the kinda cleats I wore in HS.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Should have used the TO. Thanks for not swearing coach

    ReplyDelete
  45. BC needs to put Iowa away early in the 3rd. The conditions are just begging for one team to break the other's spirit.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Right Bill we need a stop right off the bat

Please Daz this is a winnable game, don’t screw this up

    ReplyDelete
  47. It’s about 22 degrees now and forecast to get in the teens. So score first and often early.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Looks like a small crowd. Not surprising in this weather. I did not drive the 6 miles from Fort Lee.

    ReplyDelete
  49. For some reason my comments are being deleted. Perishtheeagle

    ReplyDelete
  50. I guess they have shoe problems too

    ReplyDelete
  51. This is way too tight. BC is letting Iowa hang close and Wadley or Fant will blow this game open. Really needed that field goal at the end of the half and the bs touchdown off the unsportsmanlike penalty may come back to haunt the Eagles.

Defense is playing great. But I worry about the depth.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oh, oh, Wadley getting hot.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Sadly is great too.

    ReplyDelete
  54. So much for domination. We did not capitalize at critical points and now they have all of the momentum. Offense needs to answer.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Our defense is too depleted. Is Beltzer out for the game?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Nice throw. We're ok.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I think Iowa has their game plan figured out and adjustments made? Can Addazio do the same?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Iowa is not good. But that 3rd down run is all u need to know.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Really poor play calling on that last drive.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Ferentz completely out-coached Addazio at half

    ReplyDelete
  61. That was a much needed stop by the D.

    ReplyDelete
  62. No. we're ok. This is our 2nd string defense. And they're still better.

    ReplyDelete
  63. The offense is just flat

    ReplyDelete
  64. The staff has no confidence throwing the ball downfield.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Even when he easily has the better talent, the Daz struggles. Only he could have a 6-1 lead in yards at the half and be in a close game.
Btw, Nice use of his last TO at end of half.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Daz will now make pre4th Q adjustments. Not.

    Garbage 3rd quarter

    ReplyDelete
  67. BC does not have the better talent. These teams are even.

Why would they throw a screen pass in front of the Outlaw Josey Jewel? That is just plain stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Disagree. We are playing frosh lbs.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Forget Dillon. Wadley is the beast now.

    ReplyDelete
  70. CT, they have 3 O-linemen out.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Surprised Iowa passed on 2nd down. We have not been able to stop the run

    ReplyDelete
  72. Ok. What does BC have defensively?

    Pretty impressed actually.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Great, this could be the game-winning field goal. Time to pray to my deceased son. He got us a win versus Louisville in football and Duke in basketball.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Watching this, I'm actually pretty optimistic for next yr. wow. The field stinks. Backup QB. Backup defense.

    Forest. Trees.

    ReplyDelete
  75. CT-I agree. The defense is playing well all things considered. The offense has stalled out. That is the issue here. Also kick off coverage has been uncharacteristicly horrible.

    ReplyDelete
  76. is that Bucky effen Dent over Jim Reid's shoulder in the booth? Not a good vibe

    ReplyDelete
  77. sweeney having a big game

    ReplyDelete
  78. What is with all of the false starts today?

    ReplyDelete
  79. This is going to OT again, isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  80. Pick 6. Coming.

    ReplyDelete
  81. This game could come down to Lichtenberg’s miss before half. Frustrating!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Problem with this game is if BC wins it will reinforce Dazzoloser to play not to lose instead of playing to win

    ReplyDelete
  83. Finally called a hold on Iowa.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Let’s kill that clock with 6

    ReplyDelete
  85. Yards are 378-158 and it's a tie game..

    ReplyDelete
  86. Fumble. Big gain

    Ugggghhh

    ReplyDelete
  87. Damn, I guess my son was an Iowa fan.

    ReplyDelete
  88. And quick TD.

    Oh my

    ReplyDelete
  89. Too bad our QB can’t throw like that

    ReplyDelete
  90. Wasn’t wade’s “fumble” a forward pass?

    ReplyDelete
  91. Yeah. Wade is simple. There is no reason for this game to be close. Except. QB.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Next yr should be pretty good. See ya then.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Problem with this game is if BC wins it will reinforce Dazzoloser to play not to lose instead of playing to win

    ReplyDelete
  94. Of all the bad play calling we’ve seen from the BC offense over the last few years I’ve never seen it as bad as it is tonight. It’s truly unbelievable. It’s a bowl game you have nothing to lose why not take some chances and actually try and win the game? Instead handoff 1st and 2nd down when it’s not working and put yourself in 3rd and long where the whole world knows you are going to pass. Truly unbelievable..and for the record Lindstrom is a piece of garbage. He has gotten continually beat over his career yet for whatever reason he continues to get hyped..what an absolute abortion this game has been...

    ReplyDelete
  95. Really pissed about that unsportsmanlike call in the first half. Credit Iowa for making adjustments and staying in the game. Credit Addazio for giving it away with stupid 2nd half play calls.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Outscored 17-3 in 2H. Par for the course for the worst coach in the country. He is what he is after five long years, but some stooges on this board still cling to the irrational hope he will somehow, at age 58, figure it all out.

    ReplyDelete
  97. The unsportsmanlike call was an embargo all those who call themselves a referree. If that was a penalty than the same penalty should have been called against the Iowa receiver who caught the long pass in the 3rd Qtr when he stood up and made the first down signal in close proximity to the defender. How always that any different?

    ReplyDelete
  98. 3 minutes to go and you are running right at Jewel? Stupid!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Hey Daz...note to self in case you haven’t noticed, the run isn’t working.

    ReplyDelete
  100. ABSOLUTELY unbelievable

    ReplyDelete
  101. Hey Daz..another note..there is only 1:42 left

    ReplyDelete
  102. game. see you next season

    ReplyDelete
  103. Ha. Horrible.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Possible to Fire Daz after this debacle?

    ReplyDelete
  105. The party’s over. 😌

    ReplyDelete
  106. Dillon has slipped on the logo at midfield all game. And he hands it to him there with less than two minutes to go so he can slip again

    ReplyDelete
  107. I was trying to give Daz the benefit of the doubt after this season but tonight has sealed it for me. What an absolute disgrace. This game shouldn’t have been close....

    ReplyDelete
  108. Not another team in football runs 3/5 plays down 7 with less than two minutes to go. Only fan base in America that equates going 7-6 with a bunch of wins over shitty teams with winning the Rose Bowl.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Addazio era at BC in a nutshell.

Outcoached. Clown show got to go.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Total yds..BC 386 and Iowa 198..great game Daz! Unfreakingbelivable

    ReplyDelete
  111. I don't even understand why I invest so much energy into watching sports.

I need to reevaluate my life.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Dillon saved Daz this year..he’s the only reason he will still have a job unfortunately

    ReplyDelete
  113. Imagine being one of the suckers who spent good money to go freeze their ass off to watch this idiot coach?

    ReplyDelete
  114. I feel bad for Wade. Not good. But loyal.

    ReplyDelete
  115. My brother, who is an Iowa State fan just said Addazio is the worst game day coach he’s ever seen.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I'm done. Gonna watch another team until Dazzoloser is gone

    ReplyDelete
  117. Will be interesting to see how many of those early commits back out after watching this debacle...

    ReplyDelete
  118. Unknown, it will be a long wait. He’ll retire from BC after another five to ten long years.

    ReplyDelete
  119. So, so painful....

    ReplyDelete
  120. Let’s see what happens with a HEALTHY Jon Baker, a HEALTHY Connor Strachan, a HEALTHY AB.

Remind me how many ACC games did bc win a few years back.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Dazoshit reverted to his old timid ways (two runs up the middle and a dropped pass) and we lost. Sound and look familiar?

    ReplyDelete
  122. That’s all great but with the same HC...you will still get what you got tonight..

    ReplyDelete
  123. Idiot like Speedie are why the administration laughs at real fans who demand BC at least try to live up to its motto, ever to excel.

    ReplyDelete
  124. That game was lost purely due to being out-coached. 100%

    ReplyDelete
  125. Blah blah blah. I’m an idiot. Big f’n deal.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Yeah. I'm a cynic. But if we stay healthy, we'll be good. Wade cost us. We'll be good next yr.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. As in, “It will be beautiful”, right?

One person cost us. It wasn’t Wade.

      Delete
  127. Winnable game that became a typical loss. Daz did not do much to help the cause but the game really turned on four factors:
    1. Two picks off deflections
    2. Fumble during late drive
    3. Dillon having issues with footing while Wadley having success
    4. Wade ok but clearly not difference maker

There is certainly a reason for more optimism next year. BC should win all of their non-conference games so an 8-4 season should be the minimum expectation.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Like I said. If Dillon survives his 40 carries and Wade throws less than 2 ints we win. Neither one happened.

    TGS is a dumb bitch.

    ReplyDelete
  129. The 9:57 comment is stupid. Just like the commenter.
