BC not making a big deal about Brown practicing

We've seem to hit the doldrums of summer training camp. Things are no longer new and there isn't much concrete reporting or updates. If you read between the lines, the biggest news to me is that BC is not making a bigger deal of Anthony Brown's play. The returning starter is clearly taking snaps with the first team but they don't mention any of his throws. That leaves me to overthink this whole thing. Are they not mentioning his throws or completions because he is not making any or because it is so routine it doesn't merit a mention?

Friday will bring more vague practice reporting. However, Saturday's scrimmage will be a big deal. If BC is still not mentioning Brown's play by then, it will be time for us to truly overthink this and worry.

  1. Atl,
Relax, Jesus. They have two back ups and the best running game in the conference, no team has one better.

    You sound like Mod.

  2. Brown is NOT that good.

  3. It was a serious injury and he's probably out of sync for the toughest position on the field. There's a lot left in training camp so he needs the benefit of that. Addazio said clearly he was the starter - no doubt for his confidence more than anything else. As long as his knee is up to snuff - he'll start to find his rhythm. Give him time. But we need a plan B and the two other kids need to be ready to roll.

  4. Georgia he was a freshman last year. Talk about a premature evaluation. He’s got a big arm and is a good athlete. Accuracy will improve with experience. There was a noticeable improvement in the span of about 7 games last year. Don’t rush to judgement

  5. That is all true.

It is more valuable to this team of McDonald can stand in the pocket, throw to spots and hit receivers in stride than giving Brown time to develop. This season is not about development. It is about winning games.

A rusty Brown at QB with Baker at center and not Petrula(Brown and Petrula were a good combo) is my concern. If the coach does not keep Petrula at center then you are going to have a problem with that let alone the QB's physical health.

  6. Brown is an average dual-threat qb. All dual-threat QBs can run, but the good ones can also throw. Brown is sorely lacking in accuracy. If his injury slowed his speed, BC is in trouble.

  7. Agree about Petrula - stay with what worked. He'll be even better this year. Probably easier for Baker to get back into it elsewhere on the line. And, of course, the best QB - on balance - towards the end of camp gets the job. No different than any other position.

  8. McDonald is a potentially interesting story. https://www.ocregister.com/2017/02/01/mission-viejos-mcdonald-pulls-off-incredible-ending-signs-with-boston-college/

If the kid had not missed his junior year in HS - he might have been much more highly recruited from a big time HS program in CA. So hoping we got a gem by taking a calculated risk. We'll see.

  10. I think McDonald shows a lot of potential. But we’ve yet to see him in an actual game scenario. A lot of people look good in practice when they can’t get hit

  11. That being said, I think Addazio knows what is at stake this year. Can’t risk a disappointing season due to poor QB play with the amount of talent all over the roster. The best player will play

  12. When Doug Flutie was a sophomore (same as today's Redshirt Freshman) his passing % was 46.6. And he had everyone's support and buy in.

Statistics don't tell the whole story.

I want the best players at the positions that suit the team the best.

I'm a McDonald advocate, but I am fine with AB as our starting QB.

As mentioned, there is a lot at stake this year. If changes are indicated, they MUST be made for the benefit of the team and program.

With that said, I think the starting Offensive Line should be Monteiro, Schmal, Petrula, C. Lindstrom and Phillips. Baker should be in a backup role at this point.

  15. That was a waste of internet space Mod.

Merely this is a pretty good indicator of that. Brown is half as good as Flutie who had a 9% difference in his completion percentage from Freshman to Sophomore year when Brown is Junior.

    Everything you say is stupid.

  16. Quantum Leap is the best ever though. There is dopey Mod.

  17. Quantum Leap from Sophomore to Junior year. Brown is a Junior.

    Thanks for the insight.

    Fucking funniest post ever.

  19. I think we're good! I like Browns play. He should take that extra step this year. I remember when everyone in this room wrote the team off after the loss to VT...

Then i asked a simple question which was "Who all has played football at a high level?"

    Knucklehead came at me..
Mod was interested in my view point..

And i told them both BC is on the right track just making young mistakes..

Then what happened?? We went on the becoming one of the hottest teams in the country..

So once again, trust the process. No big program will have there starting QB who just came off of an ACL injury participating in every drill especially when they've seen enough to deem him the starter.

  20. No I said the defense kept them in that game. The offense was terrible. That is a fact. Whatever happened after happened. The offense sucked in the VT game. The defense kept them from getting beaten badly.

  21. Brown is a redshirt sophomore, not a junior. He’s still young

  22. For u newbies on this blog who’ve not yet figured out what a loser K(dick) head is, we are coming up on the one year anniversary of him assuring us all based on his “inside information” that Darius Wade would be the BC QB in 2017 and Brown would be red shirted.
Guy is a complete ass who needs to be banned from the blog.

  23. Did you get challenged NASA because there is no proof you played football at a "high level"(which vaguely stated by you because you probably played at Don Bosco in the 1980's) or that I played lacrosse at a high level? This person said that and that person said this. Boohoo.

Crawl back from under your rock again in 9 months and you will get challenged again.

  24. No I said the opposite. Brown looked good in the Spring Game and Wade looked terrible. You have it reversed. Typical for a Providence College hack.

  26. BJK saying that he is a "McDonald advocate" is like saying that the moon is yellow. He is a California guy and wears his "Beach boys" image on his sleeve. I happen to agree with him. ----I just don't think that the Dazzler will turn over his future to a surfing "beach bunny". Actually, that is why the Dazzler will once again be 7-6 and BC will be looking for a charismatic coach who will start Paul McDonald's son in the same mode as a young Matt Ryan.

  27. Why must you resort to accusing everyone of graduating from UConn or Providence if they disagree with you Knuckle?

  29. Never accused anyone of going anywhere except Mod to Rutgers. Offbase comment by you Billy.

The barstool sports wannabe political fruitcake TGS(find his original comments) declared that his "kid" went to Providence College.

Again never accused anyone of going anywhere except Mod, to Rutgers. Which hasn't been refuted by the way.
