Atl, I know you rarely talk to us peasants, but could you please keep us posted on the Wake Forest game and the hurricane? Very likely it will be cancelled or postponed.
I imagine it will be postponed ... its a big hurricane and headed right at the carolinas. Hopefully it can be played on Saturday ... that would be easiest and best for all parties.
I think this game is at real risk for Thursday night. Very strong winds and rain will start to hit around the time of this game. Worst is on Friday, but squeezing a game in on Thursday night when there is a state of emergency seems unlikely.

Good point. The game might be in jeopardy for this weekend period. If its as nasty as it looks, aftermath will be bad meaning a game on Saturday will be very difficult. If hits thursday night/friday morning as projected, a game thursday night will be near impossible as well ... not for the game itself, but the fact that the BC team will be stranded there and the fans who want to attend will be in jeopardy. We might have to wait two weeks to see BC play again at Purdue.
LOL!!! It's fairly obvious some of the commenters here don't live in hurricane-prone areas. Winston-Salem will be lucky to have power by next Sunday(9/23) let alone this Saturday. Playing football with a major storm at the doorstep simply won't be a priority.
Since there’s no place else to stick this game in either teams’ schedule, what to do? Move it to atlanta on saturday indoors? Postpone it to Championship weekend and bank that neither team will be needed in charlotte? Cancel completely? What are the options?

This is a nationally televised game ($$$$). You’re crazy if you think Wake or BC wants this game cancelled. Would have to be the commissioners office stepping in to stop it
There are already choppy seas off the Carolina Coast. Norfolk Naval Base is being evacuated. All the big ships are moving out. You have to be nutty not to cancel this game.---bceagle93 has an interesting and common sense solution.
It's comically easy to pick out who has/hasn't lived through a major hurricane by the posts. Getting power restored can take weeks. Idk if/when the game might be played but it won't be this week unless they move it up.
The team charters planes to these games, normally to a regional airport in the vicinity of the school. They don't fly commercial, and they're often not at the big time airports. The team hotel is normally 20-30 minutes away from the stadium, and they get there a day before the game (Wednesday, in this case). They are on that plane home within 2 hours of the game ending. They'll have no trouble getting in and out of North Carolina on Wednesday/Thursday, unless the storm speeds up and hits early, but it is expected to stall out as soon as it hits shore. Given schedule complications, tv contracts, travel, operational considerations, it seems highly unlikely the ACC will cancel this game. Moving it to Boston or an alternative location further inland is likely the only options, but both would require such a large amount of infrastructure and operational resources this close in it would seem unlikely.
Mod might get a book written about him by Woodward. Getting weirder by the day. I hope that Mod doesn't have a job that requires good sense and judgement.
1331, you're right about the logistics of moving the game up here at this point. A whole lot of TV equipment would have to be re-routed and set up. We're only about 74 hours from kickoff. Realistically, this is a decision that probably needed to be made a day or two ago.
Winston-Salem is well inland, but the National Hurricane Center has the earliest arrival of tropical storm force winds arriving there by 8 am Thursday. 8 pm on Thursday would almost certainly see such winds. Getting home would be difficult since the game would probably be over after 11:00. It'd be tough to take off before midnight and things could be wild by then. The bye weeks don't match up. Tough to see when they could make it up.
Not arrogant just lived through way too many in south Florida and have seen a multitude of games canceled or rescheduled for far less. It’s obvious when people are talking about things they know little to nothing about. Quite humorous too.
