Baseball gets into ACC Tourney and other links

After their weekend series with Georgia Tech, the baseball team did hold on to the 8th and final qualifing spot in the ACC Tournament. They take on Virginia Wednesday. They are in a round robin with Miami and FSU too. Unlike last year, this team is probably not postseason bound and will probably need to win the ACC to advance to the NCAAs.

The audio is not great and it is a bit anticlimatic, but here is the video feed of Suntrup's announcement.

BC held a Q&A with Steve Donahue and he claims that my pet peeve (2010 recruiting) remains a priority.

  1. Thanks 韋于倫成 , I certainly agree more with your outrage over China's failure to revalue the Yuan.

On another note, I don't really understand why stressing recruiting is a bad thing. I would argue that you can't run successfull program unless you recruit well. That doesn't necesarrily mean players that are highly regarded by the media rather it means players that will fit the system. If a program can't get the right players, it probably wont succeed.

  2. Recruiting this year is a rock and a hard place. I don't want my University to waste $225,000 worth of scholarship on some scrubs just to have bodies, but at the same time we need bodies. So as long as we're doing our diligence and looking high and low for qualified players, I'm okay with being fairly selective.

The other thing is Donohue's remarks make it seem like it was the choice of Sanders and Heslip to leave, not them being "forced out" as all the message boarders have been saying.

No mention of Noreen in the list with Sanders, Heslip, and Ravenel.

  3. 韋于倫成 is full of it Andrew. He's Observer College speaking Madarin - it's so obvious!

  4. The better question is, can 而不學,無一處而不 play Power Forward or Center?

  5. Yes Mike, but for 2011, not 2010

  6. I liked what Coach Donahue had to say. Now let's get some more guys to help out our core and PLAY BASKETBALL!!! ACC, up-tempo, quick decision, anything but flex-lethargic basketball.

    Go BC.

  7. Any word on Dan Rubin out of Maryland? He was being mentioned as a possible 2010 recruit. He is an unsigned 6'5" shooting guard.

  8. I like his style of play answer...if he can get guys that succeed with his style, maybe there can be some excitement around BC Hoops in Conto. I also like his comment about energy givers instead of energy drainers. Wonder if that had explains any of the transfers....

Donahue needs to get these kids. 7'4 and 7'3 brothers out of India. Years left of growing to do. Already show a lot of skills and polish. Talk a lot about how important education is to them. Would be perfect fits and could make BC famous to the entire country of India

  11. Clifford, c'mon seriously, are you that big red dog?

and why would the Indian versions of Yao Ming (x2) come to BC?

  12. One brother is a Frosh and the other a Soph, so we've got a year or two to wait.

CityLeagueHoopsTV — April 20, 2010 — Sim Bhullar is a 7'4 sophomore in high school and his younger brother Tanveer is a 7'3 freshman. They both play at The Kiski School in Saltsburg, PA . They are originally from Ontario, Canada and play their AAU ball for Team Takeover Canada. Sim is very athletic for his size and Tanveer has made huge strides over the last year. Definitely two players to keep an eye on in the future. For more videos visit http://www.CityLeagueHoops.TV

  13. West Virginia has already offered the Soph and Duke is interested in both brothers. We may see these young men playing against us.

  15. "Sim is very athletic for his size..."

what the hell does that even mean for a 7'4 man?

He's amongst the top ten 7'4 men in the world as far as athleticism is concerned?

You're right. No players would ever want to play at BC. We should just meekly ask the pickup players in the plex if they'd be willing to do us all a favor and play for the basketball team.

Just because there's interest from other teams doesn't mean that BC shouldn't try to get them. Especially with two players who are so interested in their education.

  18. Clifford -- I am pleased to see that you understand that your alma mater has no business even thinking it can land 7'4" prospects that are being trained at an elite US basketball high school and are being groomed for Duke, UNC, Indiana or ND and the like.

Clifford, it takes far more than a BC blogger watching a Youtube video to make a credible recruiting pitch. The effort to recruit these prospects started long before they even came to the U.S. I am sure you must understand that.

But, Clifford, your naive enthusiasm for a midlding but falling basketball program is touching.

Take your condescending bullshit elsewhere. Obviously it's a long shot. But what is there to lose to try to go after people. Obviously, if the coaching staff had as big of an inferiority complex as you, they'd never get any recruits. You get people to come by believing that you can get everyone.

"Clifford, it takes far more than a BC blogger watching a Youtube video to make a credible recruiting pitch. The effort to recruit these prospects started long before they even came to the U.S. I am sure you must understand that."

I don't know what that even means. Did you seriously think me posting a link to inform people on this site of extremely unique basketball prospects constituted a recruiting pitch? No, I do not believe copy and pasting a youtube link will get kids to commit to BC. The stupidity of your statement is so mindboggling, I don't know how to respond.

Please tell me what I was supposed to say. Post a link to their youtube highlights, then go on a 500 word self loathing rant about how BC is not worthy of their talents and should disband their basketball program. What are you doing on this site?

  20. Clifford, hint for the future, pay no mind to OC's posts...and certainly do not give him the satisfaction of a response!!
