Second scrimmage and other links
While Chase Rettig only completed half of his passes in Saturday's scrimmage, the back ups all put on a good show. We probably won't know who will be the 2nd QB will be until September. Maybe the Spring Game will bolster someone's case.
I've been pleased with all of our tight ends the past 4-5 years but we don't throw to them a lot. Hopefully that changes with Rogers.
Look at Ryan Purvis' drop off: 2007 54 catches 5 TDs, 1st team All-ACC 2008 24 catches, 0 TDs, 2nd team All-ACC
Some of it is the obvious transition away from Matt Ryan. But with both Logan and Tranquil, we got away from Tight Ends even though we had some talent with Purvis, Anderson, Pantale, etc.
Hopefully Pantale is used more this year, and that Darmstatter and Brian Miller are big parts of our future.
The Rogers air show continues. It's been a while since we've seen passing numbers like these or terms like "perfectly thrown pass". I'm excited for Sept already.
Erik, the free review on rivals sounds like the TEs are getting used much more effectively and they even reference a designed TE play (yes like an on purpose play) that keeps fooling the defense. It seems we might finally see competent playcalling this year.
We have a new - and memorable - name for tight end depth chart: Jarrett Darmstatter! 5 catches. Nice.
ReplyDeleteWonder how Albert Louis Jean - the high profile Brockton recruit we snagged from the "U" - is doing? I think he was an early enrollee

Does anyone know if the spring game will be online anywhere?
ReplyDeleteDan, Thanks!
