Despite Chatman's record night, BC loses to VT

A role player made 10 3-pointers and BC still lost. It was that kind of night. We had heard that Chatman was a shooter, but until now, he had yet to show any game-breaking ability. I don't expect 30 a night from him, but I hope he can become a reliable threat from long range. It will open things up for everyone else.

As for why BC lost to Virginia Tech...it was a familiar story. They turned the ball over too much. They played confused D in the first half. That allowed Virginia Tech to establish a big lead, which BC then had to claw back from. Bowman was cold early. We also didn't get much from Turner. When they cut the lead to one point late, I tweeted that BC was in the middle of a great comeback. The final score does not indicate how tense it was late.

As for positives, Jeffers provided some solid minutes.

BC needs everything to be clicking to win an ACC game. It is a shame that Champan's effort did not result in a win. If he keeps up the sharpshooting, there will be plenty of wins to follow.

  2. Jeffers had a really good night on the boards. He needs to develop some post moves though.

  3. Looking at the BC web site you see the usual headlines for most every program other than hockey -
loss, loss, loss, falls short .....

But you can't beat a dead horse anymore. Maybe we should just change from the Boston College Eagles to the Boston College Dead Horses.

  4. Typical of the BC loser mentality, keeping track of moral victories. Losers.

  5. Yeast infection.

UNC blown out by miami. Pathetic.

  6. Whatever value these flashes of individual achievement in recent games means, BC still really sucks at hoops under Christian

Using Sagarin rankings (pick another if you don't like it), BC is horrible.

    ACC (Sagarin rank)

    4 Louisville
    6 North Carolina
    8 Virginia
    9 Duke
    22 Notre Dame
    23 Florida State
    31 Miami-Florida
    35 Clemson
    42 Wake Forest
    43 Syracuse
    49 Virginia Tech
    68 NC State
    73 Pittsburgh
    76 Georgia Tech
    141 Boston College

BC has 9 games left (WF; LVille; Pitt; GT; ND; FSU; VT; ND; Clem)... we are looking at only one possible win vs Pitt

some schools with higher ranks: Bucknell; Lehigh; Loyola-Chi; Boise State; Princeton; Yale; Harvard; iona; Middel Tenn; vermont

    Really???

    What about other leagues, IF

if in Big E, 9th place
if in Ivy - 4th place
    if in Big10 - last
if in Big 12 - last
    if in Pac-12 - #11
    if in SEC #14

Christian cannot field a competitive Basketball team.

  7. Off basketball for a second - I had stated in a recent post that BC REALLY needed a NT or DT very badly . Well , they must have heard me - Just got a commitment from a two star DT from NY - but his offer from BC WAS HIS ONLY OFFER. As we all know , that does not mean that he can not develop , but it would be SUPER NICE to be obtaining higher ranked recruits since statistically that means a higher chance of an outstanding performer. I do not know why I care since next season will be year two without getting the season tickets that I had for years. Only a few more days till signing day. BTW , I had also mentioned that Syracuse needed defensive line commits , but "THE CUSE" never offered this two star and he comes from New York. Enough said .

  8. Mod, does that include the pre-conference schedule. The loses to Hartford, Fairfield and Nichols st were bad.

  9. A Power Conference team talking about moral victories? Do the BC fans realize that the fans of other schools are concerned with winning championships, not moral victories.

Then again, BC is known to have pretty much the worst fans among any of the big conference teams.

  10. Is there any sport besides beer-pong that BC isn't dead last in?

  11. Boston fans have plenty to do in a great city if their college team is not doing well. I'm not happy about it, but that's the reality. Boston fans are the most knowledgeable and don't follow any team blindly. The team has to put its best foot forward, or the fans will spend their free time doing hundreds of other things.

Until we right the ship, we do, in fact, suck.

I don't know where Tony is from, nor do I care. I'm glad I spent most of my life in Boston, and got to enjoy the Celtics and Red Sox first hand, as well as Bruins and Patriots and my school, Boston College.

Things will change. All we need is a new President, B.O.T.that cares, a new AD, new football coach and probably a new MBB head coach, although he could save himself. WBB head coach should have been gone already.

That's all we need, any many others.

  12. Tony/Yeast -- my comment about moral victory was not as a compliment to BC-MB or an attempt to find value in yet another lose. It was meant to convey how bad BC hoops is.

You need to get fuck out of here anyway...

  13. GeorgiaEagle, good question, other than Hockey what is BC good at? I took a look at the official ACC site, to find that hidden gem. For spring 2017 sports I used last years results.

    The results ain't pretty.

    BBall men - #13/14
    BBall W - #14
    baseball #7/15
    Field Hockey #3/6
    Football #11/14
    Lax W - #7/8
    Soccer M - #12/14
    Soccer W #12/14
    Softball #4/12
    Volleyball m #14/14
    Volleyball w - #12/14

EARTH to BRAD BATES WTF are you doing????? good lord is bc sports a disgrace from top to bottom (except Hockey)

    ReplyDelete
  14. oops no mens vball

    that was supposed to be

    Tennis -m - #15/15
    Tennis - w - #13/15
    Volleyball (W - #14/15

The men's tennis., women's volleyball and women's hoops (not to mention ens bbal and fball) are really bad coaches will losing records.

Bates does nothing. Men tennis did not win match last yer in ACC. No problem. Women volleyball has been 3-17; 4-16 and 0-19 in last few years.... no problem

  15. We would be elite if we had a mens lax team. I can tell you first hand that a lot of my NE and LI friends would have gone to BC over the schools they went to play lax (Duke, UNC, UVA, etc.) if we had a team. Kill men's tennis

    ReplyDelete
  16. CV -- maybe.

Yes, There is a lot of Talent within a few hours drive of BC, but still BC would need to do something it is not good at: show a commitment to excellence fora sport. If BC brought back men's lax and once again half-assed it, lax would flop like the rest.

When you look at the current state of ALL BC sports, calling BC half-assed is probably a compliment.

When did BC go off the rails?

So you look at this big pile of BC garbage, and then LMAO at the idea that BC wants change and wants to get a new AD. I still hope it happens.. but really who can believe anything good about BC sports (other than hockey)

  17. BC fans are the least knowledgeable fans in all of college sports. Superfans? Get real.

  18. I am guessing Yeast got the 'ol rejection from BC and now is bitter... it is showing through

  19. After looking at your sports info (mod34b) - it once again led me to think that a re evaluation should be completed on what sports should be funded at BC. Before I committed to building baseball and softball stadiums/fields , I would let the new AD and a new BOT give their input !!!! I am not sure that building those fields is worthwhile. We are using up a lot of land and $$$ that might be directed elsewhere. Build the football indoor facility and then pause and wait for the new AD. Just my humble opinion.

  20. Seems like the only sports BC has improved in are the ones in which it is geographically disadvantaged (Baseball/Softball). On a side note, BC's soccer teams could probably beat most teams in the country. ACC is just ridiculously good.

  21. We are the BC Dead Horses. We should stop complaining. Its not the thrill of victory or the agony of defeat for the Dead Horses. Its the thrill of not winning by a little and the expectation of not winning by a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Everyone seems to be on the same page here. Sports are simply not a priority at BC and the apathy of the fan base reinforces that perception.

  23. Rejected from BC, good one. I turned down their scholarship offers. It's a decent academic institution, but not great.

  24. Yeast infection, This site isn't good enough for you then. That is probably why you are here. No logical reason though.

  25. I got bored trolling UConn sites, so I came here.

  26. Beanpot coming up soon. A chance for BC to finally win something. Unfortunately, it is just a meaningless 4 team tournament, but BC is good at celebrating the little things.
