Why you can't get too concerned with the national media's perception of BC

As much as I loved all the positive coverage that came out of the win over Miami, the reality is that BC has an established media narrative that will never change unless we win a national championship. Just look at this clip below. It is an innocuous "picks" segment on CBS College Sports. Two experts pick BC and two pick VT. But you can tell that little to no thought went into these picks. The picks are based on perception and reputation. Even with our biases, most BC fans know more about our team than 90% of the CFB experts.

Just keep rooting for BC and ignore the talking heads for a while.

  3. One thing is always certain: Herbstreit will pick against BC.

No amount of Daz ordered Italian food from the North End will change that.

  4. The "lack of respect" is self inflicted. A very good BC program from the Leahy of 1940 to the Leahy of today garners very little respect in its home town. Why should the media be any different?---Yesterday, I watched a video of the ND band pre game show. Leprechauns were "jumping off the roof". Compare that to the blase' response from the BC community. No self respecting bowl wants them because the only ones who travel and tail gate are BJK and Georgia Eagle.

  5. I do??? The only games i've been to is when bc plays GT in Atlanta. I need to get off my ass and go to a bowl game - especially if it's a good one and down south.

  8. Need a bowl where it is warm or hot that is where the respect is. Music City would
be fun ,Atlanta , Bahamas , Hawaii

  9. The bowl talk is great. If they don't win the ACC they aren't going to a good bowl.

They might end up with a good opponent but not a good bowl.

Top end with three losses would be Chik Fila or whatever the Atlanta bowl is called.

  10. Big game tonight UCF - Temple. Temple could knock off and end UCF streak. End of year Temple win much better then people appreciate

  15. Knuck, the Peach Bowl would be fantastic. Elite bowl and 40 minutes from my house.

  16. Yeah. The Chicken Bowl now. We would have to go 9-2 and then lose the ACC Championship Game to have a chance. I could see them putting us against Kentucky if they lose the SEC Championship Game.

I don't know all the tie breakers and shit though. Seems like a reasonable ACC/SEC matchup under those circumstances.

  17. 10-2 in regular season not 9-2.

  18. Except we will never be invited. BC fans don't go to bowl games. ( Hell, bc fans don't go to home games.)

    1. Georgia, BC and Boston go out of their way to bust chops of Fame during tailgating. Can't fault people for not going when you make them feel unwelcome. Was at the Miami game and it was status quo on that front. I do really like having beer at the games though. They are making a lot of money with it too.
