Moe Maloney update and other links

Wicked Local has an update and feature on former BC baseball coach Moe Maloney (no relation). He is still active in the community. It's nice to finally get positive press from the Brighton media.

Former Eagle Chris Snee is angling for a new deal. (Thanks to Brian for the link.)

The Globe finally gets around to the Brady Smith story and throws in an update on Cherilus and Tribble for good measure.

Is there any chance that Brady Smith could be re-instated at the school given this outcome?

I was wondering the same thing, but it sure doesn't look like it.

I'm not close enough to the situation to know how many drinking incidents Smith has had prior to this debacle.

I wish they would tear down those Mods - seriously. And I wish the victim had locked her door. I'm not blaming her at all, but Smith was familiar with that particular apartment - and locking the door and closing the curtins and blinds might have helped prevent this. As they say, there are no winners here!

I hope the young woman can get on with her life, and I hope she has the best of luck in the future.

I think he is gone permanently and I think that BC has to and will stick to its standards.

Not sports related, but BC related enough that I think its worth noting...

I'm not defending or condoning his actions in any way, but if the charges are eventually dropped, what grounds do they have for expelling him?

A comment in the article about Smith forfeiting his remaining eligibility also confused me. Is there an NCAA rule that revokes an athlete’s eligibility at every school if they are expelled?

Smith won't play for BC again and I doubt he'll ever be a BC student again. As far as the give up his eligibility...no idea. Maybe it was a condition of the agreement.
