This was the first time that BC finished last in the Beanpot under Jerry York. Traditionally the team used this little series as the starting point for another championship run. Now York has to use a different tactic. The team has lost three straight. Some of it has been bad luck, but the team also needs more scoring.
The team takes the ice again Friday against Vermont. I trust York will have them ready.

Has Bates gotten to York?
I've never seen things so dismal on The Heights before. There is only one way BC sports can go from here - UP! Let's hope the losing epidemic has bottomed-out.
Leahy lacks interest in elite sports and lacks a will to win. Simple as that.
But where is he succeeding? Not hearing much exciting academic news, discoveries, creative work etc emanating from BC either.
The BC Blah years
Its hard to believe the current situation. Even harder to understand the lack of any meaningful or even non meaningful response from the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees and their apparent neglect/disinterest in BC's overall reputation and the pride the students want to feel for their university. Its enormously frustrating as the BOT's control the school and cannot be removed. Unfortunately, the only power the alumni have is to close their wallets and explain why. In the absence of any constructive steps to improve the situation - I really don't know where this is all heading. Frustrating, as it is all unnecessary and can be reversed with a plan and focus.
Fortunately the beanpot is meaningless.
I would like to see the school start an engineering program or a medical school.
Call it a career Father Leahy !!! You have completed 20 years as President in July of 2016. You will be 69 in July of 2017. In my humble opinion(and in the mind of many) , you have grown stale - It is time that a younger man be appointed to lead the way. I do no research the leadership situations at Catholic Universities , but why not a lay person be appointed to lead the way (man or woman) - a person with proven business acumen . I just wish that I was a "Power Broker" with a past history of substantial donations to BC - I would approach the Board with my vision for the University. That vision would not include Father Leahy
I was at the Beanpot game against BU and I was also in attendance at the BBall game in Atlanta against GT.
1. I am not a hockey expert by any stretch of the imagination, but it was evident early that we were not going to beat BU. Furthermore (I know we have 11 Freshmen, etc.) the BC style of play seems dated to me. Dump it in and hope and a poor Power Play approach make it tough to win, it seems to me.
Plus there was no BC fan energy in the Garden at all - zip. The crowd was disappointing, in my mind, and it just seemed as though BC is losing it everywhere. I thought BC-BU in the featured game of the Beanpot would be raucous - instead, it was half empty and pretty quiet. Weird.
Since that game, of course, we have lost convincingly to Merrimack and also to NU. We all love Jerry York, myself included, but I hope we're not watching the beginning of the end this year. Our one sport that has kept us going all these years - especially during the last 8 of Spazadufus/Addazio - Onahue/Christian - please say it ain't so - please!
2. I have seen first hand now what a new coach and a new AD can mean to a program. GT had a good crowd on hand to cheer their team on against lowly BC. Their players are not much better than our own, but they get more out of them.
I had the distinct feeling that we would lose, even when leading 22 to 8! Why is that? Because we have no pep - no leadership and no answer once the pressure is applied. Coach C. wanders the sideline with his shoulders hunched over, looking at the floor much of the time. I don't think he communicates confidence in any manner, shape or form. Shots taken by Turner, Chatman, Sagay, and our centers should have given us at least 6-8 more baskets (law of averages) and the win. But no - shots won't fall and it's as if the outcome is inevitable - even when we're leading by 15 points! Sad, so sad, really.
It's time for new leadership in the Athletic Department, and Brad Bates needs to clear out. Bring us an AD who can relate to the BC Base, for crying out loud - someone who can bring enthusiasm, leadership and hope. I guess Christian gets one more year - or less. We will end up, what? 2 and 34 in the last 2 years in the ACC?
Put us out of our misery, Fr. Leahy - please. You should go too.
Well said, my GI brother. I second those emotions.
Completely agree, BJK. Depressing situation all around.
While I don't disagree that the hockey team is struggling right now and Leahy and the BOT aren't taking a stand to support athletics and clean house, let's not forget that the hockey team is in first place in Hockey East, 3 points ahead of second place BU, with 4 games remaining. While I don't think this team has the talent to make a run, the sky is not falling for hockey.
BC vs ND BC hot early. bowman smooth. Teams gels. A 10 point lead at half. Could BC upset ND. Maybe???
2d half. Maybe known for BC as the "cheap lawn chair half"
Yes, in the second half BC folds up like a cheap lawn chair and once again cannot hold the lead. And loses - 10th in a row
Oh my
Ugh.
