Will the AD change impact Addazio's recruiting?

When Addazio ended the season with a win streak, it gave his recruiting a shot in the arm. He flipped Dillon and pulled off a few other late signings. It seems like that momentum has waned. BC lost a key Massachusetts target over the weekend and a Michigan QB target to Michigan State. While it is still very earlier in the recruiting process, it is concerning to strike out on local talents. Maybe things will turn around, or maybe the looming AD change has dulled Addazio's momentum.

Negative recruiting is a fact of life. One of the best things to say to a kid is that a coach at another school won't be there all four years. When a coach has a contract and some momentum like Addazio has, it should be easy to counter that argument. But the AD change undermines Addazio's defense. The commitment that the school has given Addazio in the past year now doesn't mean much. A new AD is going to want to bring in his own coaches and signal to the fanbase that things are changing. The easy way to do that is with a new coach in the school's most high profile sport. Addazio will have to win and probably win big to buy time with his new boss. Another 7-6 season doesn't create much goodwill.

The new hot seat then becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Addazio needs talent to improve but talent won't come because they are afraid of a coaching change.

We've seen this before. Spaz's last recruiting class was very thin. (In hindsight it did prove to be productive.) I want Addazio to find all the talent he can. Get that cupboard full either for himself or his successor. If he can't turn recruiting around then it becomes one more reason for the new AD to make a change.

In my humble opinion, nothing less than a 7-5 regular season will save Daz's job. Given the tougher schedule, that's unlikely and with Daz's job security shakey, looks like another weak recruiting class for at least one more year. Depressing.

Daz had momentum?

Beating UConn, WF and Maryland? Yet getting blown out 4 times in historically bad loses. I would not call that momentum. Daz beat bad losing. football teams So what. He can't compete in top half of ACC That is a fact. I think in 4 years he has maybe 1 win against an ACC team with a winning ACC record (VT 4 seasons ago)

No. Daz sucks as a coach and is full of shit. Recruits know this. Getting 1 very good player doesn't mean all that much.

I truly dread watching this clown for another season

Soon he is fired the better

Negative recruiting because of a lack of job security for Daz? How about negative recruiting because the team has done so poorly recently? Beating Wagner, Buffalo, UMass and UConn propped up last year's record. With a tougher schedule next year, going .500 would be a real accomplishment, but I'm not betting on it.

I still don't comprehend why an academically qualified 3 & 4 star recruits wouldn't come to BC where they are all but guaranteed to start. Why risk going to a traditional power and risk spending your career on the bench? This logic should be a powerful recruiting tool.

Meh, Dax's recruiting really didn't get a shot in the arm in terms of quality. Only two/three star quantity. It's sad when you lose out on a three star MA recruit to freaking Duke.

As the loon at the airport with the little tinkling bell is preaching with a Bible in his hand, "the end is near". Please God, let it happen quickly.

I hate Daz and everything he has done to BC football. The man is a walking excuse of why it is always circumstances and others responsibility for his ineptitude. He can not be fired fast enough. But as this is BC we will be forced to endure for another year if not two. Time to follow NASCAR

Right, Dazzler is gone. And the lame duck year begins.

Who is the QB?

Daz is 2-14 against conference opponents in the last two seasons. we lost a WR to Duke, who is 5-11 against the ACC in the last two seasons (i.e., more than double the amount of Wins daz has). that is the culprit, not a new, unnamed AD.

I agree with you.

I blame it on the feel good; look at me; aren't I special attitude of today's youth.

All of these athletes should be slapped upside the head and be told to grow the f up. They think they are special when in fact they only have the raw material to be something special. 99.9% will be avarice at best. No disrespect but it is only a game and they need to keep their eye on bigger, more important things. I don't believe e for a second that today's college stifents have a f'n clue of what the world is about or what is important. Daz rah ran speeches, attitude and incompetence only reinforces a sad outcome

Anyone who knows football knew he was a bad hire and we all had no choice to hope for the best. Its nothing personal on Daz. Look at the achievements: At or near bottom of Power 5 Recruiting year in and year out....CHECK, Unimaginative offense near bottom of power 5 rankings...CHECK. Turnover in OC and DC positions....CHECK Worst conference record of any ACC team...CHECK. Worst Attendance since expansion of Alumni Stadium...CHECK. Laughingstock in all of college football...CHECK. Bad play calling, time management and too many undisciplined penalties. What other lows can we hit? What positives can be taken from his last 4 years? Andre Williams. That's it.

There is no momentum. Anyone who feels this way is delusional. We suck. Plain and simple. This year will be like Year 5 for Spaz and Donahue in Hoops. The longer you wait to make a move the harder it is come out of it. In both sports you are what your record says you are.

Everyone, please stop saying anything good about Football. It is not helping us. Thank you.

I've got to go, getting depressed....

Are you listening, ATL? Why do you insist on being a Daz cheerleader? Join us in demanding this clowns ouster before irrevocable damage is done to the program.

Anything worse then 8-4 next year, Addazio should be fired.

It's pretty easy to counter Daz's offense when he calls a dive play on first down, draw play up the Middle on second down and then a quick pass up the middle on third down if not another run play up the middle.
