Announcement coming Saturday
Pretty solid on this. So our new coach probably knows he got the job or will know shortly. I still can't confirm who the guy is yet, but will post as soon as I can.
IT IS JAGS. FATHER LAHEY GOT INVOLVED-POLISH CATHOLIC. DOES NOTHING FOR ME. CANCELLING 4 OUT OF 8 OF MY SEASON TICKETS. NO RECUITING EXPERIENCE-NOTHING TO IMPRESS ANY RECUITS. RUTGERS-SOUTH FLORIDA-UCONN AND NCST WILL BLOW US OUT OF THE WATER RIGHT NOW. WE WILL BE WISHING FOR THE TOB DAYS. HOW IS GREEN BAYS OFFENSE?
THIS WAS OUR ONE CHANCE AND GENE BLEW IT. HAVE TO REALLY START WONDERING ABOUT HIM. USED CAR SALESMAN.
I AM SO DISAPPOINTED THAT I ACTUALLY TOOK THE TIME TO LOG IN SO THAT I CAN VENT. THIS IS A POOR, POOR HIRING. DID ANYONE LOOK AT THIS GUYS CREDENTIALS. THERE IS NOTHING IMPRESSIVE THAT WILL GENERATE ANY EXCITMENT. DID LAHEY KNOW HIM FROM HIS WISCONSIN DAYS. TOB IS JUST LAUGHING.
I reallty think you guys should stop this debate on the head coach. It's Whipple. No doubt. And I know. We need to focus out attention on who his coordinators are going to be. Don Brown would be amazing, but I don't know whether he would be willing to leave UMass with all the success he's had there (and they are trying to move up to D1). concentra
IT IS NOT GOING TO BE WHIPPLE, UNLESS MY CONTACT IF VERY WRONG (WHICH I HOPE HE IS). HE IS VERY WELL PLUGGED INTO BC AND IS RIGHT MOST OF THE TIME. HE IS THERE NOW. HE SAYS LEAHY DID NOT LIKE WHIPPLE.
Hmmmm my contacts (and they're pretty good) have been telling me Whipple all week, but I don't like the sound of your contact being on the scene. Mine are not. So you may have better contacts than I. That would really really suck if GDF picks Jags over Whipple. Whipple is perfect for BC, abso-fucking-lutely, and an incredible recruiter to boot. I was just thinking of changing my moniker to "Happy Eagle." But I might have to consider changing it to "Fucking Furious Eagle" or "I Wanna Fucking Kill Father Leahy Eagle."
And why the fuck is Leahy making the call? He knows as much about football as I know about priest-boy love. You hire an AD to make personnel decisions for the athletic department. If Whipple is GDF's guy, stay the fuck out of it.
JUST HOPE HE IS WRONG. HE DID TELL ME THAT MATT RYAN WAS OUT FOR THE SEASON AFTER HIS 2ND INJURY, SO IT CAN HAPPEN. BUT MY BROTHER TREATS A BUNCH OF JESUITS WHO ARE FRIENDS OF LEAHY, HE HAS ALSO BEEN TELLING ME ALL WEEK THAT IT WOULD NOT BE WHIPPLE BECAUSE LEAHY WANTS A CATHOLIC COACH. LEAHY HAND PICKED TOB. DON'T FORGET, GILBRIDE WAS TOLD HE HAD THE JOB BY GLADCHUCK.
JAGS COULD BE A REAL DISASTER. OUT OF COLLEGE FOR 8 YEARS-NO HEAD COACHING EXPERIENCE. I DON'T CARE HOW HE INTERVIEWED. LOVES A BIG SLOW RUNNING BACKS
Sammie: you are really talking out of your ass. "Loves big slow backs". Mike Cloud and Warrick Dunn would beg to differ. Also stop with the all caps. Jags and Whips are both well qualified and capable of taking us to the next level.
I just checked out Jags' bio on the Packers' website, and I'm even more worried. This guy is is a Midwestern guy with a lot of NFL experience. Read between the lines and that spells "stepping stone job." If Jags gets the job, he will use BC like a drunk soils a paper towel with a wet fart. There is certainly the danger that Whipple could do the same, but Whipple is a little older (49 v. 42) and a New England guy for at least 15 of the last 18 years by mycount, and that doesn;t include college (he went to Brown). I think Whipple would not only kick ass, but be fired up to stay at the Heights for 10 years and build something. Whatta disaster this would be for BC if Jags is the guy. I'd rather have Spaz if it's not Whip.
Norvell is smoke screen. Eagle Action is either making shit up or getting played by someone inside. If we are hiring a guy with no head coaching experience he will at least come from a school in the BC mold, not nebraska.
Who cares if this is a stepping stone job. Stepping stone assumes a certain level of success. TOB hung around for 10 years which was about two years too many.
I generally agree that it's OK to use BC as a stepping stone, but not if that's your goal coming in. I may be splitting semantic hairs here, but I would not want a guy like Jags thinking "OK, I'll go to BC for 2-3 years and then maybe get an NFL HC job, that's my dream." The guy coming in should recognize that BC is a great job, and have the intention of staying and building something. Then if some NFL team throws ungodly sacks of cash at him to take an NFL HC job, that's OK. File it under "can you blame him?" I just don't want to see some carpetbagger, and that's what Jags looks like to me.
Cloud was a Coughlin recruit. Dunn ran off tackle and alot of traps.
What does this guy have in his background that will make some kid say "wow I have to follow this guy to BC". Maybe some o-lineman. He can bearly talk about succesful teams he has coached. Can you imagine the curriculum at Wisc.-Whitewater? Where is the academic standard credibility? I hope this is all a smoke screen while they try to negotiate with Whipple.

Clawson interviewed. But I really think it is down to Whip and Jags. The tea leaves say Whip, but Jags has suprised at every step along the way.
Well, I think it's pretty clear that somebody is messing with the editors of Eagle Action...or they're just plain making stuff up.

IF IT IS JAGS I AGAIN HAVE TO QUESTION WHAT GENE IS DOING.
SCREWED UP THE ACC/BIG EAST
STUFF.
HAD NO CLOUT TO GET US IN A BETTER BOWL.
HAS NEVER HAD ANY SUCCESS WITH B-BALL SEEDINGS.
I KNOW IT GOES WAY BACK, BUT BILL FLYNN COMMANDED RESPECT. GENE MIGHT JUST BE A USED CAR SALESMAN.

For either guy to get NFL interest they are going to have to get us to BCS game. If they do that and leave, I'll be sad but wish them luck.
