Rooting guide

As much as I've preached not looking outside the ACC, I've been guilty of it Saturday. See where it got me? Lesson learned. Now we really do need to focus on the ACC. Everything is up for grabs so we could use some breathing room in the division.

NC State vs UNC. Doesn't have major implications on us. An NCSU win would help our strength of schedule, but it would also but the Wolfpack closer to bowl status, where they would trump a potentially slumping BC. Go UNC. (And who am I kidding? I don't want TOB to win this game.)

Wake Forest vs Clemson. Huge game. Huge. We really need Wake to win. If Clemson wins, then next week becomes our playoff.

Duke vs Georgia Tech. A GT win helps our strength of schedule. Go Jackets.

Florida State vs Virginia Tech. It is a net-net on strength of schedule. But I want VT to win. A late run by Florida State makes them much more appealing to the better bowls.

Virginia vs Miami. Gotta go with Virginia here. I would like to see them give the Hokies a run in the Coastal division.

I don't really understand the whole FSU and NC State trumping us in bowl selection. EVEN if we go 8-4 (highly unlikely), we have had a special year and I don't see us being looked over in bowls to NC State or FSU. Ryan is a huge draw (see: start times of our ACC games against FSU, Miami and Clemson) and we've had a special season that I think can overcome our bowl draw reputation. NC State will be within 1 game of us if they win out (highly unlikely though with Wake fighting for the division crown) but we will have beaten them soundly.

Regardless, if we take care of business, none of that will matter. So I would like to see FSU win to knock VTech further out of the Coastal race (plus I think this also legitimizes our loss to FSU since they apparently sleepwalked through 3 ACC games early). I think we match up with UVA much better than we do VTech.

I'd also like to see NC State win to help our SOS. Neither are any threat to take the Atlantic crown.

I do agree with the enormity of the Wake-Clemson game. I want Wake to win. My buddy wants Clemson to win since we are going to SC next weekend for the game. He wants it to be for all the marbles. I think he is insane, and require as much cushion in the standings as possible. TOB has scared me enough such that I'm still waiting for the WTF game (I don't think FSU was said game this year).

Go Eagles!

He is spot on. Though the Eagles can't get complacent/down after last weeks lost, this squad didn't go into the season with the mentality of "BCS or bust."

Especially with all the seniors/upperclassman who watched the team fall oh so close of BCS berths in each of the past 4 seasons, a possible ACC title and spot in the Bowl Championship Series still is damn good motivation.

Can't wait for Saturday: enough of the title game, enough of the Heisman, I just want this team to man up through their injuries and play to their potential. Because if they do, this season could still be a special one.

Also, note Bobby Bowden is 15-0 against VTech in his career!

i agree. i'm tired of hearing about individual accolades (heisman included) about stadium gimmicks, about any of that nonsense. it's like when gordon bombay lost sight of what was important in mighty ducks 2. enough commercials, enough endorsements, lets get what we have never been able to get before - a bcs bowl. JUST. BEAT. MARYLAND.

I don't know if anyone is following the meteoric rise of former Eagles QB
Quinton Porter, but thanks to an unprecedented string of injuries, Porter is the Backup, yes backup, for the Carolina Panthers this weekend. Get out your checkbooks boys, this could pay off the mortgage.

I agree with Brian that we match-up better against Virginia than Va Tech. But, perhaps this is a hangover from the TOB days, I just have this intense fear that we are going to stumble here and may not even play in the title game. Wake, Florida State and Clemson are charging hard.

If Clemson wins today and then we have to play them in Death Valley next week...ouch! With our linebacking corps depleted, I don't see how we win this game. Further, like to admit it or not, Cullen Harper is more efficient than Ryan right now and he could have a big day up the middle due to our injuries.

Finally, that damn Miami. I was 17 years old the last time we beat them. That was 23 years ago! Down year or not, they have our number and the FSU game proves our home field advantage, even in cold weather against a Florida team, is just not that strong.

I'm a nervous puppy heading into these last 3 game. I hope we will out. But if we have to lose one game, I hope it is Miami as that means we would go to the title game.

I think LAEagle should get bonus points for working in a Mighty Ducks reference-- and D2, at that.
