Boxscore breakdown: St. Louis

I didn't see the basketball game last night so I am left to look at the boxscore. I know the game was on ACC Select. Did anyone use it? I would love to hear feedback on the service. Saint Louis is not a good team, but a win is a win. These are my

Good Things
-- Defensive rebounding. With Blair blocking shots and the guards creating turnovers, this team has a chance to be one of Skinner's better defensive units. The determining factor will be defensive rebounds. They did a good job last night.
-- Raji's continued productivity. I wondered if the Providence game would be a single blip. Doesn't look like it. He had another very productive night coming off the bench.

Concerns
-- Southern's sloppy outing. I wondered why he wasn't seeing the floor. Maybe he's not ready. Reports were that he looked a little lost out there. My bigger concern is that if he doesn't get more time this year, he might be a lost cause. With Skinner it is sink or swim.
-- Shooting percentage. This is nitpicking, but we should really be getting and making better baskets against a team like this.

I'm paying for ACC Select until other coverage kicks in. It isn't perfect (sometimes the connection seems to time out but is easily reestablished), but it is serviceable. I have a decent computer etc., so I’m not sure how it would display/perform in an older setup.

One more reason why it was great to go to Jacksonville: they handed out free one-month passes to ACC Select (plus a free t-shirt) at the ACC Fanfest Friday night. I'll rev mine up in three days so I can watch three hoops games during the free month.

I used it and found it unwatchable because it froze up so much.

I have a new computer, but use wireless broadband for internet service. I imagine that it would be better if you're on a better internet connection.

Southern looked lost on offense running the flex, but good on the defensive boards.

It was the last few minutes of the game and STL had pretty much packed it in though, so it's hard to gauge.

Heisman candidates are announced today. According to ESPN, McFadden and Tebow are shoe ins and Brennan and Daniel's invitations were announce by their coaches. 1 more invitation out there... they say its between Matt, Bradford, Smith and Dixon... Lets hope for an invitation at least...

I worked for BC as student helping run the jumbotron and directed a ton of the ACCselect games last year. I know the service can seem a little bootleg at times, but at BC it's completely student run (every other school in the ACC uses professional crews). It's a group of paid BC students doing all the camera work, choosing the shots, running the replays, etc. The shots you get for games in Conte are the same ones that are being run on the jumbotron (minus the jumbotron advertisements). The heads of ACCselect from Turner broadcasting were raving about the quality of the BC broadcasts compared to the product being put out by professional crews at other schools. The majority of the problems are Turner broadcasting problems, not BC specific problems. I'd say give it a shot. It's not perfect, but it's a pretty good product for being student run.
