QB worries, evaluating HD and other links

Hopefully practice makes perfect because practices are not going well. Even Jags -- who is usually an optimist -- is worried. There is something to be said for going against a good D, but the offense has work to do before Kent State. Maybe we will be a running team this year.

Good feature on Herzy. The D is ready, deep and talented.

Evaluating HD
As mentioned, ESPN blogger Heather Dinich was on campus Wednesday. BC fans are starved for content so I appreciate her output. Mixed bag for the actual posts. Very good feature on Crane and one on Wes Davis. The Toal and Flutie stories slipped a little to much into cliches we've read about both over and over. Although not every post is Pulitzer worthy, I am glad she's providing BC coverage at ESPN.com.

so if crane really struggles, how quickly would they make the move to davis? jags did say he would see regular playing time (mostly to give the O a different look i guess)

What little hope I had for the offense pretty much disappeared after reading that blog post. Granted, it is coming from the Globe, but I think it's very telling that Jags (for the first time that I can remember) has mentioned the possibility of putting Davis in during games. He must have lost alot of faith in Crane between the ACC media days and now.

Our best hope is that either the running game improves exponentially over the first 3 games, or, we never have to face a defense as good as our own. Which pretty much amounts to the same thing.

I am bracing myself for the multitude of "BC is nothing without Matt Ryan" bullcrap from the press and the public.

I still have faith in Crane but I don't think Jags will be as stubborn as TOB was if there is a problem. He's got a lot more at stake and needs to have a winning season to prove he can coach on his own and not just win with TOB's players.

how could you not mention the globe piece on Mark Maglio? Kid has been my friend/roommate since freshman year, great article and feelgood story... ya slackin!

Lova, the article wasn't up when I put this together at 1 AM. Check out the latest post and get your roomie on Youtube.

This was not exactly the world's strongest endorsement (Jags speaking about Crane in the first HD blog post):

How much confidence do you have in that fifth-year freshman?

JJ: I've got as much confidence as I have in any starting quarterback. If he's your guy, he's your guy.

Damning by faint praise?

Everyone relax, Crane is a stud. He may take a game or two to settle in, but he's gonna have an awesome year.

BC will be in the ACC Championship game again. And will win it.

f anyone remembers there was a lot of talk about having crane play a little bit during the games last year before the season started. Apparently its a Logan thing, i wouldn't read too much into it for now

More important than all of this football talk, did anyone take photos of Dinich while she was here?

"14-of-25 for 178 yards, TD (The offense was held to 64 net rushing yards and the defense had eight sacks and four interceptions, not necessarily all from Crane)"

You mean she couldn't have done the minimal amount of research/asking around to figure out which QBs threw how many picks in that particular scrimmage?? Awful.

maybe someone asked her not to release the information. some coaches don't give out practice stats at all.
