Count the true freshmen

This article on BC and GT's true freshmen includes the following quote:

It says a good bit about the Yellow Jackets’ depth problems, then, that Johnson played five true freshmen in Tech’s first game, compared to Jagodzinski’s four.[EMPHASIS MINE]

I believe Jags already played five true freshmen.
