This is the ACC opener, the home opener and a real test. Hopefully we'll build off of last week's solid effort.
I will not be online during the game but feel free to leave your comments and thoughts below.

Let's go Eagles! This is a huge game for the program and the 2008 season. Hoping that Josh Haden has a real breakout game today and our defense shuts down G-Tech.
My ESPN 360 is very fuzzy but I also have the radio feed and it sounds like that first drive was impressive. Nice field goal by Apo.
crane reminds me of scott frost. yes, that's a compliment.
next time, i'd like a touchdown next time.
I with you NorCal ... I'm afraid the failure to get in the end zone with these opportunities will come back to haunt us.
Are you kidding? This is not good. 4 trips to the red zone, no TDs, and sweet missed field goal. Not good at all
Crane still looks horrible passing the ball. His motion is ugly. He drops his arm and it looks like he kind of pushes it. That's one reason for all the deflected or almost deflected passes so far. Yes, Apon has hit 3 FGs, but why is he still kicking? Bennett looks impressive on kickoffs. There's no reason why he shouldn't get the change to placekick as well.
We need to come out strong in the 2nd half and score a TD. Otherwise we'll be on the edge of oour chairs for the entire half - probably will be anyway.
Not a good red zone performance - but we can turn it around. Let's go BC.
Last week I heard Crane managed the game well, but didn't play great. Feels the same way here. It doesn't seem like he is playing poorly, but he has had some bad passes, and we only have 9 points. Shouldn't be this close!
Come on! Based on the numbers, we should be dominating, but another turnover? Pfft. This does not look good.
Rick "Doc" Walker is killing me. How is he still calling Ron Brace, Ron Brice and BJ Raji, BJ Rajah in the third quarter?
Finally! Great drive boys.
Yet, that still was a horrible throw. And let's not even talk about that INT. I have no clue why the coaches have so much confidence in this guy. He has yet to prove anything yet.
Anyone kow who "Arthur" Quigly is?
Is it Ryan's twin brother?
Wow, Crane is now having mental cramps as well. He had all day to throw the ball away, but yet took a safety. And the thought process is?
I think we all knew the offense was going to struggle early, but let's not lose sight of the great performance of the BC defense so far. Awesome!
They have only given up 10 points (I'm not blaming them for the safety)
It's nail biting time!
Crap crap crap. Come on guys. Let's put something together and finish this GT team off.
This is brutal. How angry are you if you're on defense? Really, what more can they do? Offense is terrible.
Defense is wearing down. If we don't scor on this drive, we're in trouble
To be fair, the defense has given up its fair share of 3rd down and long conversions, like that 3rd and 6 scramble for a first down in the last drive. They also gave up a big 3rd and 20 conversion in the first half which resulted in GT's first TD.
Crane is a joke. How many overthrows has he had already this game? By the way, whatever happened to Quigley? Why is Flutie punting now?
Same damned mistake they made in last year's ACCCG. 3rd and 5 on a crucial down. RUN THE DAMNED BALL. If you only get two or three yards, at least the defense has to defend both the run and the pass on 4th down. If you INC on 3rd and 5, they know you're going to pass on fourth down.
So much for the rose colored glasses. This offense is one of the worst I have ever seen. So much for that #14 ranking.
Well, I expected 4 or 5 losses, but I had this penciled in as a win due to this being at home.
I missed a lot of the game but it sounds like we had a lot of turnovers and missed opportunities in the redzone.
Hopefully , we can take some lessons from this, but man this really, really hurts. At least we won't have to worry about getting shut out of the BCS again.
Yeah about that ranking....
Ouch, this was ugly.
Let's give Crane two more chances (URI, Central florida) and if he is still struggling then a change might be necessary. Against the non-ACC schedule (except ND) we can probably survive with Crane "managing" the game but against the ACC he has to show a lot more than he did today.
I'll tell you what, that Paul Johnson can flat-out coach. He should have beaten us in the Navy game and now he wins in his first year at GT. Georgia Tech is going to be a force in the ACC.
BC loses by 3....game could have been much different had Apon hit the chip shot at the end of the second half. Given his lack of success the past year, how does he still have the job?
er I meant first half.
Paul, BC does not have anyone else to go to. The other QB's are way behind Crane. This was only his 3rd start. There are sophomores with more game experience than him.
I know this is frustrating but we lost 11-12 key players from last year and TOB left the cup empty so there was bound to be a drop-off.
How the hell can you blame this on Sid? The whistle blew while the ball was halfway to the goalposts on the first attempt, first of all, and he shouldn't have needed to kick 3 of those field goals in the first place. This goes squarely on Crane, no exceptions. He is the one and only reason this game was lost.
I dont see a bright spot in this game for us on Offense. That was as disappointing a loss as you can have. We should have been up at least 10 at half, arguably much more. Crane looked scared in the second half. Why don't we get the ball to Purvis underneath more?
Gingerbread---
Most, if not all of the blame falls squarely on the shoulders of Crane. He had an awful game. However, I just brought up the fact that Apon missed another chip shot, which has become increasingly common toward the end of last year. The fact that a TO was called should not make a difference. That is the life of a kicker. If he can't handle being iced, he has no business kicking. All I said was that it could have been a different game had he converted the FG. Also I was wondering how he still has a job when he consistently misses FGs like that. But yet, most, if not all of the blame should land on Crane.
that kind of stuff (the whistle being blown right before or after the snap) even affects kickers in the NFL
just a thought
I understand. Regarding the iced kick, I totally agree with you but I think on this particular occasion the whistle was blown considerably later than it should have been to stop the play. that doesn't give him a free pass to miss the second try, no, but he did go 4/5 on medium range field goals which I think is an improvement for him. I was scared to death on all of those field goals as I am on every one of his kicks and to tell you the truth, I was pleasantly surprised by his performance. I think he still should have made the last one but considering his recent performance I think he did well.
I don't think it ALL falls on Crane. He definitely did not play well but the offense as a whole was not very sharp.
As regards Steve AP: picture one of the better kids on your high school's soccer team. Now imagine he walked on to the closest BCS team. Do you really blame this kid for a loss if he goes 4-5 in a game? Bennet's injury and TOB's recruiting are at fault if anything.
