I probably don't link to Heights stories enough. This one on Ryan Sidney caught my eye and I felt it was worth highlighting. It is interesting to hear Sidney's perspective on how events played out. I wish things had ended differently too, but I think Ryan still tries to dodge blame a bit and I think the writer glossed over some of the finer details of what happened. Overall good effort on the piece.
Towards the end of this NFL Network video they super impose Rich Eisen's 40-yard-dash with Raji's. It does give you a sense of how much ground these guys can cover.
Raji wasn't expected to be fast. Akins was. His slow 40 time will probably hurt his draft status a bit.
Albright is on the road to recovery. I think his return will provide a boost to the D like Toal and Raji did this past season.
Sanders' dunk against FSU is getting notice on Youtube. (Thanks to Jim for the link.)
The economy and spacious Georgia Dome have hurt ACC Tournament tickets sales.
BC has interest in Maryland WR Adrian Coxson. Staying in Maryland, it doesn't look like Jordan Haden will follow his brother to Boston. Alex Welch is another BC target.

BJ giving Rich a six yard head start and the big fella still catches him.
Awesome.
Very gracious of the Heights to let Ryan Sydney re-write history.
What actually did happen with the Sidney/Bryant incident?? It was before my time at BC and the only accounts I've been able to find are this one and Bob Hohler's.
Sure is nice to see that Sidney has matured into, like, the most humblest person, like, EVER.
Seriously, though, to follow up Alex's remark, can anyone elaborate on the Bryant/Sidney incident? Sidney's account in the Heights article is pretty glossy, and you simply can NEVER trust anything that Bob Hohler writes. So what's the REAL story?
I don't know if ATL wants this blog to become a forum for spreading rumors about BC athletes, but I'll just say that based on what I've heard from people who lived with Sidney that summer, there is MUCH more to the story than the Heights article suggests. He and Bryant were involved in some pretty serious and very messed up stuff. It was far from a "wrong place/wrong time" stituation.
I agree that his isn't the place to spread rumors about former athletes.
I also agree with will that this is far from a "wrong place/time" incident. From what I gather both Sydney and Bryant were involved in "messed up stuff," i.e. the rumors mentioned in the Heights article.
There is a glaring absence of WHY someone would hold a gun to Andrew Bryant's head, and WHY they would go get Sydney.
I agree with will...
And "The Dark Knight" comparison? C'mon, that is a little much. I'm sure this article would have had a different tone if written 4 years ago.
Changing the topic to baseball, I assumed that "similar results to past years" meant they got smoked again by about 20 runs. I was pleasantly surprised to see on the BC site that they actually led into the 5th inning before a Sox outburst, and ultimately only lost 7-1. That's pretty impressive for our squad, no matter which guys the Sox carted out there. What I took away from it is that we've got some pitching this year, and that there's some hope.
That's confirmed by today's 3-1 win over USF. Hey, our Nine are off to a 5-0 start against southern teams that are further along in their season prep/play than our guys. That's noteworthy. Have we got a chance at the ACC tournament and the NCAAs?
Don't I feel in the dark, I had always believed that story about Sidney moving back home to spend more time with his kid...
Gimme a break with the "I don't wanna spread rumors"...this is a BLOG! And this happened 6 years ago.
that article is a joke. calling it "journalism" is disrespectful to 99.9% of the true journalists out there.
luch-
The girl who wrote the article is one of the few big BC fans at the school. Half the kids on campus probably don't even know Sidney's name.
The article paints Sydney as "whoa is me." It is such bs. I am happy he turned things around and that he seems to be doing well, but he was a bad seed at BC. I'll go ahead and say what I heard back in 02: He was dealing drugs. True or not, I really don't know. But I do know he was an idiot and put himself in high risk situations.
Let's talk BC Bball! Wins vs NC state & Ga Tech might give the Eagles a bye in the ACC tourney! Just need to avoid the post "beating-a-ranked-team" syndrome!!
She's a big fan but that was straight up hero worship and revisionist history.
He was a drug dealer.
He may be a good guy now. I hope he is. If so, he deserves to have good things written about him. but they shouldn't gloss over the past.
