Golf with Matt and other links

The AJC tagged along with Matt on his latest round of golf.

Chris is back with his great panorama photos. Click on the one below to get a great shot of the baseball field.

More BC guys were selected in the second day of the MLB draft.

Women's basketball player Lauren Whitehurst is transferring to James Madison Duke. Would that ever fly in football or men's basketball? [THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO CAUGHT MY BONEHEADED MISTAKE]

Whitehurst isn't going to Duke. She's going to James Madison. Their team name is "the Dukes."

Glad we got that squared away.

What's the deal with the panoramic photos -- that one looks very cool, and I'm quite sure there'd be a market for ones like that of Alumni on a football gameday. Let us know any info if you have it!

I've seen old school ones of Alumni with the Track, and maybe one from '94 right after they did the renovation and still have gold end zones. They're out there, and there could be an updatedone.

Earth to ATL: Matt Ryan graduated.

This blog has turned into a bromantical novel about your one-sided relationship with an Atlanta Falcons QB.

Ummm, Pete ... what?!? This blog is about a BC alum living far away from BC sports. One of the all-time greats of BC sports now lives in his backyard. I'd say some attention to that is more than appropriate.

Besides, you make it sound like every post is fully centered on Matt Ryan. I can think of less than 5 such posts on here the entire year.

Get over it.

Lindsay, I imagine you also likely enjoy reading articles in the Globe about Tom Brady flipping over in his kayak on the Charles. How interesting!

I enjoy the Matt Ryan updates.

I think any "bromance" that many BC alums have for Ryan is mirrored in large part by the city of Atlanta's current love affair with him--the man can do no wrong...I've really never seen such universal affection for a football player, which is not only a product of who Matt seems to be as a person, but is framed against the backdrop of what Atlanta Falcon fans went through with the Vick saga. This city is often divided on issues by race--and to have had a QB issue (Vick) defined largely along racial lines, it's kinda nice to have someone who rises above that by saying the right things and doing the right things.

As a matter of fact, they're talking about Ryan right now on the local sports talk radio show and it's always effusive in praise down here (the expectations for Matt are becoming nearly divine-like).

The fact that he's a BC guy...well, truth be told, we don't have too many stars in professional sports. I don't think there's anything wrong with a little bromance every now and then. It's a nice reprieve from the many disappointments we see in college and pro sports.

The last thing we need is people coming on here and douche-ing up the comments section of this blog the way EagleInsider and EagleAction have been captured.

Thank you CT, for your well thought out and reasonable point. I do now see what you/ATL/Lindsay are getting at and of all the things to get bothered about, Matty Ice should NOT be one of them!

"I don't think there's anything wrong with a little bromance every now and then." Truer words have never been said.

It's nice being a BC sports fan. Just think... Matt Ryan and Mark Herzlich as representatives of our school. Good tandem. Lofty tandem.

I direct your attention to a point in the photo approximately 10 ft. to the left of where the first-base line makes contact with the outfield grass. That is sacred ground - It's my "gettin' hammered" spot during every home football game. Thank you.

Eagle1,

I'm coming out for the NC State game. Save a brat for me.

Pete, I laughed out loud at my desk over that Tom Brady comment. :) (I honestly could care less about Brady, but still!!)

CT, in a FAR more eloquent way, voiced the point that I was trying to make, which is: As an obsessive sports fan, it's pretty damn cool to me that I watched the now Rookie of the Year / prize QB of an NFL team / beloved sports figure in Atlanta during my own time in college. And if this blog wants to throw in a post now and then about that QB (who makes it really fun for me to say I'm a BC grad at all the sporting stuff I go to), then more power to the blog.

See how much better I can make my point when it's almost time to go home for the weekend? :)

I couldn't agree more with Erik, especially if this is the infamous BIG Pete, who almost single-handedly destroyed those two BC message boards with his trash mouth.
