Pics from Clemson

I should have erased these...but sometimes it is important to document the day regardless of the outcome.

I had goosebumps watching our captains make their way onto the field at Death Valley - Herzy with the yellow towel - awesome.

Note to offensive coordinator - our players deserve a better effort on your part - let's go BC. Coach to the strengths and talent.

I like these pictures because we're still undefeated.

Also, they visually look ready, and physically able to perform.

Fans disagree, perhaps, but Coach Spaz should name Justin Tuggle as his (#1) quarterback and I think he'll grow with the responsibility and the knowledge that he's the guy. A starter needs to be named right now - and it should be done emphatically. The last thing this team needs is waffling on the part of the coaching staff. Tuggle showed toughness and a never say die attitude at Clemson with little or no protection all day. That's another situation that needs to be addressed, obviously. Go Coach Spaz - Go BC.

Let's not forget that a good defense can play havok with a quarterback - especially if he's brand new. Miami's defense in 2006 wasn't that good compared to other years, but shut BC down in the second half completely - what a disappointment. I was at that game. Even Matt Ryan couldn't pull it off.

Why do I mention that? Let's give Tuggle a chance and let's give him some encouragement - that's what's needed right now.

I agree that Shinskie looked underwater and overwhelmed, so Tuggle has to be the guy. I like the guy's toughness, and he ran pretty well, but his throwing mechanics trouble me. Not unlike Davis, it's the kind of stuff you see in high school where QB is where you put your best athlete. With Davis it was horrible arm mechanics. With Tuggle it's footwork. Even in the NE and KS games, when he had no pressure, he throws off-balance, frequently lifting his back leg. I don't really know what it means, but it doesn't look like any successful QB I've ever seen.

One question about the earlier screen shots of the O-line: I'd love to see similar shots of the Clemson defensive backfield, because I'm dying to know what it was that kept Tranq from calling for a single downfield pass over the middle -- something that might give the LBs pause. Never saw it.

Good question Mod10 - some quick slants may have been successful leading to better things downfield. I also agree about Tuggle's mechanics - but he can improve that if he knows that he's the guy.

I mentioned the Miami game because of Bible's utter failure to use the entire playbook in the 2nd half of that game.

I hope Tranq is a little better at giving our guys a chance, but we have some more games to find that out. His record is not that staunch when it comes to imagination I think - hence the UNC nickname - Gary Nyquil.
