Charlie Davies

As most of you know former BC soccer star and member of the Team USA Charlie Davies was in a serious car accident early Tuesday morning. He remains in critical condition.

BC soccer roach Ed Kelly released this statement.

Keep Charlie and his family in your prayers.

This story sucks. Davies was on the verge of something awesome and unfortunately it ends up like this. His chances of being back for the World Cup are slim to none, and as the US's best offensive threat, so are their chances of winning the Cup (not that they were great before this).

The good news is that he's alive and may be able to rehab back into action eventually. Thoughts and prayers go out to Charlie's family, and especially the family of the girl who didn't survive the accident. Truly tragic all around.

Right on, Matt. Davies was the most explosive offensive threat in the US' counterattacking style. A big, big loss to the USMNT. A Cup is still not within grasp, but advancing out of the 1st round just got harder.

Such an incredibly sad story, for Davies, but more so for the young lady. What a waste. Thoughts and prayers...

Charlie brought a fantastic mix of speed, aggressiveness and nerve to the US attack and that of his new club FC Sochaux in France. What a sad end to not only this 22 year old girls life, but a budding international career for Davies.
