A night with Jared Dudley

While most BC fans were watching hockey and freezing on the east coast, our Arizona Alumni held their night with Jared Dudley. Thanks to Jared for being so supportive of BC and congrats to the club for pulling together a great event. (Jared is the tall guy in the back.)

Man, I wish Rakim Sanders had made the trip down to Clemson.

C'mon dude!!!!

God Sanders was awful. Awful. Whatta head case, I can't stand when he starts sulking over his shot and completely stops playing defense. And the lazy passes? Gimme break. Have some dignity, man. Al should have sat him down midway thru the 1st half and thrown Elmore in there, at least he would have played with some f'ing effort.

Same goes for Jackson. This is the most listless, dislikeable team since the BC squad I have probably hated the most in the Skinner era - the 2001-2002 team, when when Ryan Sidney went south, and Andrew Bryant started hucking three after three after three.

Sorry I missed this game - sounds like another great Skinner-led effort.

This team will have to earn back my viewing - We stink!

When did they quit today - early in the 2nd half? Don't you just love this stupid flex when you don't have the players for it?

Al will figure it out - he's cool. Maybe another year of not bringing in any players might do the trick.

The team looked like a sloppy pick up team. Big Jack, I dont think the guys went into their traditional flex once. The team doesn't look like it has any direction and is a bunch of individuals looking for their own shot (even Biko).

What struck me the most was when Roche hit the deck late in the game (after refusing to pass on a 2 on 1 fast break) Jackson didn't move 2 feet to help him up. Biko had to run around 3 clemson guys to help of Roche.

say what you will about the offensive scheme, we flat out missed relatively easy buckets in the paint consistently today early. that snowballed into us getting behind, pressing to get back in it, and playing the bullshit brand of basketball with which we are all too familiar. al needs to do a lot of things to fix the situation, but if these guys can't even convert easy baskets, it won't matter much.

BC was 2-16 from behind the arc. Disgraceful. How Al continues to let BC chuck up 3s when they are a horrible shooting team is beyond belief. Al's team is falling to shambles right in front of his eyes and he's doing nothing about it. Like Danny Boy said, this group of players is not a team. They are too concerned with their individual statistics rather than the good of the team and it's pretty disgusting to watch. Al needs to get off his @ss and do something about it pronto.

I really hope Gene D is looking at these games and criticizing as much as we are. Something needs to change on the Hill with our bball program and he's the man to do it

I DVR'd it, watching it now. First time Clemson presses (1 minute into game), we turn it over. Not sure I want to keep watching. What's up with Raji lately? After his huge game, he seems to be struggling a lot

It was difficult to watch today's game against Clemson. If ever there were an opponent designed to defeat the Skinner-era version of BC BB it is Clemson.

They pressed for the entire game. It was obvious that we had schemed to beat the press and we actually moved some players back to help and attempted one or two passes up the side or over the top; but our execution was not consistent enough to really beat the press with authority.

Refs swallowed their whistles on the Clemson press--think Georgetown; i.e., so many hands on so many arms that the game would never flow. BC's efforts at pressing were inexperienced and consisted of a lot more reaching, which got fouls called on us.

I won't go into how hard it is for BC to get a call when Ted Valentine is officiating. I don't know what BC ever did to Mr. Valentine; but he has called every judgment call against us for the better part of 30 years. When I see Ted, I know we are in for it. That didn't really matter today.

Clemson has the depth off the bench to press the entire game and to up tempo on offense after every basket/rebound. BC did not sign a recruit for this year and have little hope off the bench. Dunn, Elmore, and Ravenel put forth effort, which is commendable and show flashes of why they were given scholarships; but Coach Al has problems with his substitution patterns and his on-the-floor combinations.

I have never seen so many BC shots blocked under the basket. Do our players not have the legs to jump? Did we ever hear of the Bob Knight head fake.? Why can't we finish under the basket?

If BC wanted to press and run, we couldn't. We don't have the personnel and we are not likely to ever have them under the current coaching set up.

It is difficult to imagine what could happen to keep, this from being a disastrous season; but lets hope there is some "miracle" waiting. Otherwise it will be a long, cold Jan-Mar.

Man, it seems like every time BC plays Clemson, they get taken to the woodshed. It's starting to feel like BC-UConn in the '90s.

We're 2-4 against Clemson since joining the ACC...and in those four losses the average margin of defeat has been around 15 points. That's not including our 34 point loss in the 2008 ACC Tournament.

They do seem to have our number. But they are also a highly regarded team and are probably the number 3 or 4 team in the ACC this year.

Last year we followed a 10 point home loss to Clemson with our win against Duke. We'll see how this Wednesday treats us. Our schedule certainly does us no favors, but after Duke we have three straight winnable games. Assuming a loss to Duke, we have a chance at coming out of this stretch with a 3-2 ACC record. Maybe it's a pipe dream, but I just don't see this team playing like this all year.

they're highly regarded every season through the first 20 games, when they start out 18-2 every season. and then the clock strikes midnight.
