I will probably tweet periodically through the game and may have a comment or two at half time.

In-game comments post: Kent State
Spaz keeps talking up Kent State, but I am still not worried. Hopefully this game is uneventful and Shinskie takes a big step forward. You can leave your thoughts and posts on the game here or join the discussion on Eagle Insider or follow me on twitter.

Hopefully Spaz will leave Gary Tranquill in the locker room at halftime.
Marsco on this series? Something needs to change.
Our OL is way overrated. They stink. Disappointing. Not all bad Dave
OL is not springing Montel.
Thanks, Bill...for a second I thought the blog had been kidnapped by Eagle Insider (just kidding.)
True--the O Line is not doing ANYTHING to pop Montel loose.
anyone know how to get this on radio online? WKRO does not have it? Thanks.
The OL is really struggling. Don't know what is up with that. No running lanes, no time to throw the ball effectively. Another three-and-out. This is really pathetic. Our defense isn't good enough to win games like this against good teams.
Harris can't get loose because Ken St. has 7 players in the box. Tranquil needs to at least let somebody take a shot down the field to open the game up. There is no aerial threat whatsoever that Kent needs to worry about.
I think that was a pick!
He almost got 2 feet in after he got possession.
Yes! Great play by Jim!
TORTURE...
Oh come on. Really?! The O-line - and Montel there - is having a terrible first half. That's twice in a row that Marscovetra got absolutely drilled as he threw. Terrible.
Also, FSU is looking really bad in Norman.
This offense flat out sucks. O-line, QB, Tranquil; lose all these clowns.
It's like Kent has our playbook and ESP at the same time...What a great Clyde Lee III!!!
Wow, I'm glad I can't see this game. It sounds horrific on the WEEI feed. Hopefully, this will calm all of the wackos that were talking about a national championship a few weeks back. We may have the potential for a Top 20 team, but BC is a long, long way from the Top 10. I still think BC is going to come out on fire in the 2nd half.
Wow, imagine what can happen when you have even a half decent passing game.
A couple nice throws from Dave there. He actually had time to throw thanks to some play-action. Nice call. And then a great move from Montel. Let's keep it going!
This series is a break through--Shin is rolling out and the O-Line has remembered how to block. Is this the Eagle Rope-a-Dope?
Obvious PI there.
OL is playing much better on this drive.
Tranquil with the obvious run on first down...AGAIN. Doesn't take a genius to figure this stuff out. Shinskie got really luck there too.
And the offense chokes again.
1st and goal: oh, another stretch zone play. Surprising.
2nd and goal: bad Shin.
3rd and goal: bad OL.
Bad play-calling and bad execution. That's the Boston College rope-a-dope.
Phew. At least we go into the half with the lead and we get the ball back after the break. Awful show by the offense, though.
Half-time. 6 - 3 BC Eagles...I am filled with inertia. What can anyone on the staff say at half-time to wake up this offense? Our D is ok, but this is a real indictment of the O Line--Kithchen and Mixon are just kicking our front guys' butts. Where's the ferocity and the "want to"? It's embarrassing.
Ok. Will BC's first play from scrimmage in 3Q be same as it was against Weber as well as virtually every game last year:
"M. Harris rushed up the middle for 5 yard gain"
ND is losing to Michigan 21-7 a minute before the half...is Montana's kid really playing QB for ND or am I punch drunk from watching BC play Kent State?
More like M. Harris rushed up the middle for -2 yards. And yes, Montana is playing because their starting QB Crist got injured in the 1st quarter.
Hey Castonzo: show some nastiness. And as per your video "protect this house".
Geez, OL lacks passion
I cannot be the only person not at all impressed by Terrelle Pryor throwing the football. Does not scare me at all.
As for BC, yes, the first play will be a dive from Montel. What else could it be? I think Tranquill needs to mix in more PA and bootlegs for Dave. Those were about the only passing plays that worked, the only ones where the OL made its blocks and Dave looked comfortable. The defense looked good, but there were precious few positives to take from that first half.
It's not really Castonzo. It's more of the interior line that is killing them. Kent St. has gotten through the middle virtually untouched on more than 1 occasion, including Marsco's INT.
Jesus, cue the surprise with that call.
Oh Christ. At least we got it back. Gotta be more careful with the ball, Montel.
I really like this Coleman kid!
Dave needs to be rolling out and the TE's and Clyde and Coleman are key for him to have any success. The O line is just not playing tough--maybe Shin needs to start running more. Are we throwing to Montel at all???
The torture has to end...we need a big half from the O side or these guys could get lucky and beat us. All it takes is Gause blowing a cover and we're hosed...
Swigert! What a catch! Bad decision by Dave, but great adjustment by Bobby.
For Boston, for Boston, we sing our proud refrain!
Freshmen coming up big for BC!!!
I don't know if Shins meant to do that or just got really dang lucky his pass wasn't picked.
Blinded by the light! A TD from Shin to Swiggert...ballsy throw but it's 6. What next?
Loving Swigert and Coleman...but need the Oline to step up more.
Gause...instant fair catch amnesia. Wow. There's something for everyone in this game. Does the band know the Twilight Zone theme?
That sack is all on Claiborne. Dave never had a chance. Claidborne didn't try to block anyone and just let the DT go by. Can't blame Lapham: he was blocking the back-side end. All on Claiborne.
Nice block Claiborne. Pathetic.
What do folks think about the O-line? They are big, but perhaps too slow? Jags' philosophy was lighter, quicker linemen and that was successful. Spaz has gone back to the big, smashmouth linemen, similar to the line at the end of the TOB era.
Mmason, how are the margaritas today? I might go for a run after the game so I'm sticking with water.
Look out now! Montana just tossed a beautiful TD pass. Notre Dame has a new legend.
It's called jogging Dave. You do it on two feet, not four.
Yes! Nice specials teams there! Heads-up play Dominick!
Fumble!!!!!!!
Holding breath...holding breath...CLYDE LEE! Nice throw, great catch!
Clyde's 2 catches are gameball stuff.
Wow...
Gotta love these young BC receivers!! The future looks bright.
Defense is gonna score soon
Eagleboston--That was a pass from Crist, not Montana. Montana stinks.
Watchout for the cushion cover 2...
You mean the Ohio State defense, Dan?
@NorCal
Watching tOSU and Miami as well, and though Pryor may have a nice stat line at the end of the game, there have been countless "near-miss" picks- consider me not impressed either with his decision making (though he's thrown a couple nice deep balls for dual-threat QB).
We need our cover corners to pop for a pick six and burn downthis Kent drive right now...Go Eagles!
You are right Bravesbill. I hate that ND does not have the names on their unis. Crist must have got a lot better in the locker room.
God call Dan
Nope I meant ours NorCal
One more block and I woulda been right.
Now that's how you start the 4th quarter!
@EiB: exactly. Pryor is inaccurate and makes poor decisions in the passing game. He's still a huge threat on the ground, but if he is contained in the pocket he is largely neutralized.
That's what I'm talkin' about! Davis rockes! What a YAC!
You were very close, Dan! Great play by Wes.
How many turnovers has the defense forced? Nice to see they are back to 2008 form.
*good
Are we definitively burning Rettig's redshirt?
If so, he should get the mop up.
Unbelievable third down call. Seems like they were content with the FG for some reason.
At this of the game, points are points. Very nice second half from the offense so far.
Was the call to go to Montel on 3rd and 9 as bad as the McDonald's rap spot "I'm Makin' It?" It's a mystery.
Rettig didn't play last week, did he? I haven't heard whether they were going to burn his red-shirt. At this point it should be Marsco getting some snaps.
Even Meter and Cronin think Montana is still playing.
Last non-BC point: can't get over how many chances Miami has squandered. Unfortunately, horrible weekend for the ACC as a conference. Going to have to endure another week of conference-hating from the pundits...
Jesus is Dana Bible in there wtf?
Nice play LeGrande!
Montel is being betrayed by our O line and Gary keeps calling his number. Tranquil is just blowing this game...if we didn't have LeGrande grabbing fumbles and guys picking off passes, and D stuffing their offense we wouldn't be in this thing.
Quigley will be an unbelievable weapon for BC in ACC play. He may be better than Ayers.
"preseason" is now over!
Over-all, another meh game.
The positives: the D was much better than a week ago and looks much more opportunistic than a year ago. Also, Herzy looked much more comfortable and active. He and Kuechly were all over the field. A very nice performance by the D. As for the offense, starting with the last drive of the first half, they really did play better. Tranq started mixing in more play-action and boot-legs for Dave and Montel made some guys miss. Finally saw some glimpses from Dave. Also, the young WRs had a very nice day.
The bad: the o-line was bad for long stretches. The ole block by Claiborne was terrible but just one instance in the midst of a chorus line of bad performances. The interior line was just terrible all game. I think they really miss Tennant. Shinskie did look better in the second-half, but he had a serious case of the yips in the first half. The consistency and focus just don't seem to be there. Also, why is Momah starting? He was invisible for most of the game and doesn't fight for the ball in the air.
Still, a win is a win. They have plenty to work on over the next two weeks. It was nice to see the defense step up after last week and to finally see some glimpses from Uncle Dave. If he can ever put it together, this passing attack has real potential.
It's a win, but all that talk about top 10 and BCS bowls best stop right now 'cause we Eagles need a big retool on the O side if we're going to win games in the ACC with this front line--Unless we let the D line play both ways...There are positives, with our defense and our kicker and Keuchly and Mark and our rookie receivers--but our offense game plan didn't run on all cylinders and Shin can't be blamed any more than Montel can be blamed. They got zero from the O Line. We need the bye week and a come to Jesus meeting to work this mess out. Go Eagles! Go BC! Ever to excel means get it real and make the needed changes. Game ball goes to the Defense from where I'm sitting...and Clyde Lee gets a piece. Beat VaTech!
