BC released a
ticket offering through Groupon and it set off the blogosphere and twitterverse. While there are multiple factors in the slow ticket sales, I still hold to my theory that the main issues are secondary ticket markets and a malaise around the program. But I am torn on the Groupon model as a solution. Other schools have done it, so imagine there is decent redemption rates. However, I also think it hurts BC in the long run because you are conditioning the market to wait on purchasing and conditioning the market to buy at a discount. I asked former Patriots Marketing VP and current
BC professor Lou Imbriano his take and he made the point that it all depends on the end goal. I think the end goal is filling seats until the team improves, so Groupon makes sense for now. The Groupon stuff also sparked more BC to the Big East posts and tweets.
Brian took that argument apart. Let me make this point clear, the Big East will not attract any current BCS teams to their conference. Legally and financially it will always make sense for the Big East football schools to leave the Big East and join another conference. That way they can split from the basketball schools cleanly. Even some ACC-Big East hybrid conference would carry the ACC's legacy and heritage just to avoid the Big East basketball schools.
Nate Richman thinks he will be ready by the Northwestern game.
Here is Chase Rettig talking to Heather Dinich. What I find interesting is that all the offensive players are saying the same things about Rogers: "disguising plays," "teaching players" and "being less predictable." These are things we'll all noticed long ago, yet it took two seasons to make a change.
Thomas Claiborne is hoping to make Tampa's roster.

Rettig also said Andre Williams will play week 1.
You're right, the primary concern is that the players deserve to play in front of a good crowd. They work hard and shouldn't have to play in front of empty seats. It also helps recruiting if there is an atmosphere of excitement. It makes the fan experience better if there is noise instead of silence. I've accepted these sales because of those goals.
Not sure that a groupon is needed if tickets are basically $10 through BC anyway, but so be it if it is another channel to get in front of potential buyers.
Of all the Dinich interviews, the Colin Larmond Jr one is the best. He's so much more comfortable answering questions than Rettig and Montel were. Lots of good info in there.
"BC fans should definitely be excited for tahj kimble." - Rettig
Offense with Rogers is going to be night and day versus Tranquill. Its amazing that he was even paid by BC our offense was so woefully unprepared and inadequate last year.
also, this was from another Dinich blog post. it looks like montel will be back sooner rather than later, redshirt i'd say is out the window:
Harris said he’s spent a lot of time on the stationary bike, and will start jogging next week.
“With how it’s feeling right now, I can’t see myself missing too many games,” he said. “We’re going to take it a day at a time, day by day, and try to see where we’re at after the Northwestern game.”
LeGrande gone. What the hell is going on?
What do you like that BC does?
The Spaz Ship be sinking.
LeGrande transferring as a senior after seeing time the last 3 seasons is really bizarre. I can only assume that he was told he wasn't starting?
The media guide released in July had Okoroha and LeGrande as the two starting safeties. Less than a month later and both are off the team.
Noel started 6 games at strong safety last year. He's gotta be starting back there. Dominique Williams or Sean Sylvia (both redshirted last year) will be the otherside, or maybe Hampton Hughes?
How has Albert Louis-Jean looked? We heard so much about this guy and celebrated his late commitment, will he see time as a nickel back? (Fletcher and CJ Jones as the two starting CBs?)
The way I see it we have 3 starting-level CBs (Donnie Fletcher, CJ Jones, and ALJ). If CJ or ALJ turn out to be average or better, CB can actually be a position of strength considering that Fletch is very good. That being said the lack of depth is scary.
Noel starts at strong saftey. I also think he is a very solid player. Who backs him up?
Free safety is a huge question mark with Dominique Williams, Spenser Rositano, or Hampton Hughes as starting candidates.
Sean Sylvia also looked good in the first preseason scrimmage, but I'm not sure if he is more of a FS or SS. Maybe he backs up Jim Noel at SS.
And then there is James McCaffrey and Ted Davenport (redshirt frosh), plus Manny Asprilla and Ameer Richardson (true frosh), who we haven't really heard anything about yet.
Fletch and Noel staying healthy is critical. After that, some young guys obviously have to step up.
this blog has become unreadable ever since Atl became such a BC hater. Spaz and Gene can NEVER do anything right and the sky is falling.
Yes, and Spaz and Gene could never do anything wrong.
BCBCBC,.
I couldn't agree any more. He's such a downer. The story is one of his friends is friends with Jags and ever since BC did the right thing and fired that Snake, ATL has been leading the anti GDF/Spaz charge. Can't wait till the team shuts all the haters up!
That being said it's still the best BC blog there is, and I know although ATL has a personal agenda he still loves BC and will be the first one celebrating the success we'll have this year. He's an Eagle through and through. Just wish he was more positive.
i understand peoples concerns about spaz. The last two years have not been overly-encouraging. But he was not thrown into the best situation either. Regardless, having his hatred for spaz and gdf cloud every single blog post he makes, regardless of the applicability, is what has made this blog go downhill. It gets old reading negative posts full of thinly veiled agendas day after day after day. He even went so far as to suggest that spaz was throwing players under the bus after the Okhora and Legrande situations, without having a clue why they were booted.
